SPECIFIC INFORMATIONS
Many electrical and mechanical parts in this chassis have special safety-related characteristics. These characteristics are
often passed unnoticed by a visual inspection and the protection afforded by them cannot necessarily be obtained by using
replacement components rated for higher voltage, wattage, etc. Replacement parts which have these special safety charac-
teristics are identified in this manual and its supplements; electrical components having such features are identified by the
international hazard symbols on the schematic diagram and the parts list.
Before replacing any of these components, read the parts list in this manual carefully. The use of substitute replacement
parts which do not have the same safety characteristics as specified in the parts list may create shock, fire, X-ray radia-
tion or other hazards.

CHAPTER 1 GENERAL ADJUSTMENTS
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING: Service should not be attempted by anyone unfamiliar with the necessary precautions on this receiver. The following
are the necessary precautions to be observed before servicing this chassis.
1. An isolation transformer should be connected in the power line between the receiver and the AC line before any service is
performed on the receiver.
2. When the replacing a chassis in the cabinet, always be certain that all the prospective devices are put back in place, such
as; non-metallic control knobs,insulating covers, shields, isolation resistor-capacitor network etc.

3. SELECTING THE ADJUSTING ITEMS
1) Every pressing of CHANNEL sbutton in the service mode changes the adjustment items in the order of table-2.
(tbutton for reverse order)
Refer to table-1 for preset data of adjustment mode.
(See SETTING & ADJUSTING DATA on page 7)
4. ADJUSTING THE DATA
1) Pressing of VOLUME sor tbutton will change the value of data in the range from 00H to FFH. The variable range
depends on the adjusting item.
5. EXIT FROM SERVICE MODE
1) Pressing POWER button to turn off the TV once.
■INITIALIZATION OF MEMORY DATA OF QA02
After replacing QA02, the following initialization is required.
1. Enter the service mode, then select any register item.
2. Press and hold the RECALL button on the Remote, then press the CHANNEL sbutton on the TV. The initialization of
QA02 has been complated.
3. Check the picture carefully. If necessary, adjust any adjustment item above.
Perform “Programming Channel Memory”on the owner's manual.
CAUTION: Never attempt to initialize the data unless QA02 has been replaced.

The diagnosis will begin to check if interface among IC’s are executed properly.

7. Power control and current limiter detection (self diagnosis)
7-1 Power control
1) During STANBY: Set the POWER terminal (Pin15) to "L".
LED terminal (Pin 16)
2) During SET ON: Set the POWER terminal to Hi-z (input mode).
Set the LED terminal to "H".
7-2 Current limiter detection
1) When "L" is detected for 2 seconds or more after monitoring the POWER terminal during SET ON, it is jugded that the
current limiter is operated.
2) Turn ON/OFF the LED terminal every 0.5 second.
3) Make increment for the number of the current limiter detection times during "SELF CHECK".






PROGRAMMING CHANNEL MEMORY
Adding channels to the TV’s memory
When you press Channel 8or 9, your TV will stop only on the
channels stored in the TV’s channel memory.
Follow the steps below and on the next page to program all active
channels into the TV’s memory.
Programming channels automatically
Your TV can automatically detect all active channels in your area and
store them in its memory. After the channels are stored automatically,
you can manually add or erase individual channels (see page 31).
To program channels automatically:
1. Press MENU, and then press ;or :until the SET UP menu appears.
2. Press 8or 9until TV/CABLE is highlighted.
3. Press ;or :to highlight either TV or CABLE, depending on which you use.
If you use an antenna, highlight TV; if you use cable, highlight CABLE.

5. Press ;or :to start channel programming.The TV will automatically cycle
through all the TV or Cable channels
(depending on which you selected), and store all active channels in the
channel memory.
While the TV is cycling through the channels, the message “Programming
Now_Please Wait”appears.
6. When channel programming is complete, the message “Completed”ap-
pears.
7. Press Channel 8or 9to view the programmed channels.
Adding and erasing channels manually
After you have automatically programmed the active channels into the
TV’s channel memory, you can manually add or erase specific
channels.
To add or erase channels:
1. Select the channel you want to add or erase. If you are adding a channel,
you must select the channel using the Channel Number buttons.
2. Press MENU, and then press ;or :until the SET UP menu appears.
3. Press 8or 9to highlight ADD/ERASE.

LAMP UNIT REPLACEMENT
The light source for this TV is a mercury lamp with internal atmospheric
pressure that increases during use. The lamp has a limited service life
that varies depending on user settings. If you use the lamp beyond its
service life:
•you may notice a reduction in the colors and/or brightness of the pic-
ture; and
•the strength of the quartz glass in the lamp will be reduced and the
lamp may rupture (often making a loud noise when this happens). If
the lamp reputres, the TV will operate until the lamp unit is replaced.
Note: The lamp unit is designed so broken lamp glass remains se-
curely inside the lamp unit.
CAUTION: Always handle the lamp unit with care.
The lamp unit in this TV was designed for safe replace-
ment by consumers; however, if the lamp unit is subjected to inten-
tional abuse (such as excessive mechanical abuse or handling by
children or pets), the unit may break, exposing edges or pinch points.
When to replace the lamp unit
You should replace the lamp unit:
•if the picture darkens and/or colors fade;
•if the lamp does not light; or
•If you hear a loud noise and the picture goes black, which may indi-
cate a lamp rupture.
One replacement lamp unit is included in the original packing material
for the TV. To obtain additional replacement lamp units:
•In the U.S., contact your local Toshiba dealer.
•In Canada, contact a Toshiba parts distributor by directing your web
browser to www.toshiba.ca; click "Home Entertainments," and then
click "Support."
Use the replacement lamp unit model listed below only. Using any other
lamp may result in failure.
CAUTION: Always replace with same type lamp unit –
Model No. SSMR100-FK/E95

How to replace the lamp unit
Required tool: Manual flathead screwdriver
1. Turn off the TV and unplug the power cord.
2. STOP! Allow the lamp to cool for at least one (1) hour before re-
placing it.
3. On the back of the TV, loosen the thumb screw (by hand) on the
lamp unit door, and then remove the lamp unit door.
4. Using a manual fathead screwdriver, loosen the screw on the lamp
unit.

WARNING: Eye damage may result from directly view-
ing the light produced by lamp. Always turn off the TV
and unpug the power cord before opening the lamp unit door.
CAUTION: HOT SURFACE
The temperature of the lamp immediatly after
use exceeds 392°F (200°C).Touching the lamp at this temperature
will result in injury. ALLOW THE LAMP TO COOL FOR AT LEAST
ONE (1) HOUR BEFORE REPLACING IT.

WARNING: The lamp unit door is provided with an inter-
lock to reduce the risk of electric shock and excessive ul-
traviolet radiation. Never defeat its purpose or attempt to serv-
ice without removing the lamp unit door completely. Failure to
follow this WARNING may result in death or serious injury.

5. Grasp the lamp unit handle and gently pull the lamp unit straight out
of the TV. Set the old lamp unit aside (see "Lamp unit disposal" on
page 62).
6. Carefully insert the new lamp unit straight into the TV until it is fully
seated. The lamp unit is fully seated when the two plastic "nubs" on
the TV cabinet are flush with the two holes in the lamp unit (above
and below the lamp unit screw hole; see illustration below).
Note:
•Never subject the lamp unit to excessive shock.
•Never touch the lamp unit glass or otherwise get it dirty.
Doing so may affect the image quality and reduce the service life of
the lamp. See "Cleaning the lamp unit glass" at right.
7. Using a manual flathead screwdriver, replace the lamp unit screw.
Note: Hand-tighten only. Do not use an electric screwdriver.

Note: Make sure the lamp unit and screw are installed se-
curely; otherwise, the TV may not turn on and the lamp life
may be shortened.
Cleaning the lamp unit glass
If you accidentally touch the lamp unit glass
or otherwise get it dirty, wipe it with a lint-
free lens cleaning cloth (such as a cloth for
cleaning camera lenses or eyeglasses).
CAUTION: NEVER clean a hot
lamp with any type of flamma-
ble liquid or aerosol cleaning agent.
Many ordinary cleaning agents (such as
glass cleaners) contain chemicals that
may be flammable at certain tempera-
tures. If the lamp unit is not allowed to
cool for at least one (1) hour, such chemi-
cals may ignite.

8. Reattach the lamp unit door, making sure to insert the extension
on the left side of the lamp unit door (the side without the thumb
screw) inside the opening in the TV cabinet.
9. Replace the thumb screw and hand-tighten.
10. Plug in the power cord and turn on the TV. After the initial warmup
period (which may take up to 45 seconds for full picture brightness),
the TV should operate normally. If any of the following conditions
exist, turn off the TV, unplug the power cord, and repeat steps 1-9 to
ensure that the lamp unit and lamp unit door are installed correctly:
•No picture
•Dark picture
•TV will not turn on
If, after repeating steps 1-9, the problem still exists:
•In the U.S., call Customer Service at 1-800-631-3811.
•In Canada, locate the nearest Toshiba authorized service depot
by directing your web browser to www.toshiba.ca; click "Home
Entertainment," and then click "Support."

•Place the used lamp unit in the empty box from the new lamp unit.
•Keep the lamp unit out of reach of children and pets.
•Dispose of the used lamp unit by the approved method for your area.

installed securely; otherwise, the TV may not turn on and
the lamp life may be shortened.

Air filter care
The air filter prevents excessive dust from entering the TV. If the air filter
accumulates too much dust, the internal temperature of TV may rise,
resulting in possible malfunction; therefore, it is recommended that you
clean the air filter a minimum of every two (2) month.
This TV contains several cooling fans to moderate the TV' internal tem-
perature.The air intake for these fans is through the air fiter.To maintain
maximum cooling efficiency of the fans, clean the air filter regularly and
never place the TV where the air filter will be blocked (agaist a curtain,
for example).
If the air filter becomes lost or damaged, replace it with a new one
before using the TV. Continued use of the TV without an air filter or with
a damaged air filter will allow excessive dust to enter and dmage the TV.
See air filter ordering information at right.
Note: Always use the TV with a clean air filter in place, or excessive
dust may enter and damage the TV.
How to clean the air filter
1. Turn off the TV nad unplug the power cord.
2. Loosen the two thumb screw (by hand) on the air filter door (on the
back of the TV), and then remove the air filter door.
3. Gently pull to remove the air filter housing from the TV.
4. Remove the outer and inner plastic covers from the air filter.
Contact a Toshiba parts distributor for a replace-
ment air filter. Order "filter piece," part no.
23929849.

purpose or attempt to service without removing the door completely.

5. Using a small-diameter vacuum cleaner attachment, carefully
vacuum both side of the air filter.
Note:
•Never use a large diameter vacuum cleaner attachment to
clean the air filter, or the air filter may get caught in the vacuum
cleaner.
•Never use water or other liquids to clean the air filter, or the
air filter may become damaged.
6. Reattach the outer and
inner plactic covers
around the air filter.
7. With the outer plastic cover of the air filter housing facing the
TV, gently reinsert the air filter assembly into the TV's air filter cavity.
8. Reattach the air filter door, and replace the two thumb screws by
hand (review step 2).
LED indications
The green and red LED lights on tge TV control touchpad
(on the lower right corner of the TV screen) indicate the TV's
current status, as follows:
•Green ON = Control touchpad being pressed.
•Red ON = Power ON.
•Green and/or Red blinking (see table below for condition
and solution).

Solution
Turn the POWER OFF and unplug the power cord. Review "How
to replace the lamp unit" on pages 60-62 to ensure that the lamp
unit door is installed securely. If the problem persists, contact a
Toshiba Authorized Service Center.
The TV automatically will try to reset itself three times.
Turn the POWER OFF and then ON again. If the problem per-
sists, replace th lamp unit (see pages 60-62). If the problem still
persists, contact a Toshiba Authorized Service Center.
Turn the POWER OFF and then ON again. If the problem per-

REPLACING LCoS PANEL DRIVING BOARD
(Removal of LCoS panel driving board)
1. Turn off TV and unplug the power cable.
2. Remove the lamp unit (refer to “LAMP UNIT REPLACEMENT”).
3. After removing all screws from the cabinet on the back side of TV, detach the cabinet.

4. Remove the socket from the right wall surface of optical engine.

from LCoS panel driving board. Then, completely pull out the optical engine from the main body.
