*If installed
•T e driver and front passenger airbag Supplemental
Restraint System (SRS) is designed only as a supplement to
t e primary protection of t e seat belt systems of t e
driver and front passenger. T e front seat occupants are
particularly susceptible to injury if t ey do not wear t eir
seat belts; w en sudden braking or a collision occurs, t ey
may be t rown forward. To obtain maximum protection in
an accident, t e driver and all passengers in t e ve icle
s ould always wear t eir seat belts w en driving because
serious injuries or deat can result to unrestrained
occupants. For instructions and precautions concerning t e
seat belt system, see “Seat belts” in t e Owner’s Manual.
•Toyota strongly urges t e use of a proper c ild restraint
system on t e rear seat t at conforms to t e size of t e
c ild. According to accident statistics, a c ild is safer w en
properly restrained in t e rear seat t an in t e front seat.
•Never use a rear-facing c ild restraint system in t e front
seat even if t e “AIRBAG OFF” indicator lig t is
illuminated. T e force of t e rapid inflation of t e
passenger airbag can cause severe injury or deat to a
c ild.
•Unless it is unavoidable, do not install a forward-facing
c ild restraint system on t e front seat even if t e
“AIRBAG OFF” indicator lig t is illuminated. If you must
install a forward-facing c ild restraint system on t e front
seat, move t e seat as far back as possible.
•Make sure “AIRBAG ON” indicator lig t is illuminated w en
using t e seat belt extender for t e front passenger seat.
If t e “AIRBAG OFF” indicator lig t is illuminated
disconnect t e extender tongue from t e seat belt buckle,
t en reconnect t e seat belt. Reconnect t e seat belt
extender after making sure “AIRBAG ON” indicator lig t is
illuminated. If you use t e seat belt extender w ile t e
“AIRBAG OFF” indicator lig t is illuminated, t e front
passenger airbag and side airbag on t e front passenger
side may not activate correctly, w ic could cause deat
or serious injury in t e event of collision.
•If an adult sits in t e front passenger seat, “AIRBAG ON”
indicator lig t is illuminated. If t e “AIRBAG OFF”
indicator lig t is illuminated, ask t e passenger to sit up
straig t, well back in t e seat, feet on t e floor, and wit
t e seat belt worn correctly. If t e “AIRBAG OFF” indicator
lig t still remains illuminated, eit er ask t e passenger to
move to t e rear seat, or if t at is not possible, move t e
front passenger seat fully rearward.
•Make sure you ave complied wit all installation
instructions provided by t e c ild restraint manufacturer
and t e system is properly secured.
•T e SRS side airbags and side curtain airbags (optional) are
designed to deploy in certain types of severe side impact
collisions. In all ot er collisions, t e side impact and side
curtain airbags will not deploy. For instructions and
precautions, see your Owner’s Manual.
•Do not lean against t e side doors w en t e ve icle is in
use. T e side airbags and side curtain airbags inflate wit
considerable speed and force. Deat or serious injury
could result.
•Do not modify, cover or replace t e surface of t e front
seats. Suc c anges could disable t e system or prevent
t e airbags from activating correctly, resulting in deat or
serious injury.
If belt is fully extended, t en retracted even
slig tly, it cannot be re-extended beyond t at point,
unless fully retracted again. T is feature is used to
elp old c ild restraint systems securely.
