POWERING UP THE SCOREBOARD
TURN ON SCOREBOARD
TurnONthescoreboard’smaindisconnectswitch—thisisusuallymountednearthe
scoreboardorononeofthesupportcolumns.
•WiredSystem—ifthescoreboarddoesnotdetectasignalfromthecontrol,thena
rovingsegmentwillmovearoundthedigitsofthescoreboard.
•WirelessSystem—ifthescoreboardisequippedwithaFair‐PlayWirelessGen2system
anditdoesnotdetectacontrolsignalwithinfive(5)secondsafterpoweringup,thenit
willdisplayitsreceiver’soperatingchannelfor30minutes.
Ifafter30minutesandthescoreboardstillisnotreceivinganysignal,thechannel
numberwilldisappearandarovingsegmentwillmovearoundthedigitsofthe
scoreboard.
TURN ON CONTROL
Fair‐Playprovidesvarioustypesofcontrolsthatarecompatiblewithyourscoreboard.When
thescoreboardisproperlyreceivingdatafromthecontrol,thescoringdata(time,score,fouls,
etc.)appearsonthescoreboard.Pleaserefertoyourcontroluserguideforadditional
information.

TURN OFF POWER
TurnOFFpowertothescoreboardandcontrolwhenthegamesareoverorwhenthe
scoreboardisnotinuse.
•TurnOFFscoreboard’smaindisconnectswitch
•Topreventpossibledamagetothecontrolfromlightningstrikesorpowersurges:
oTurnOFFcontrolpower.
oUnplugthecontrol’spowercablefromthewalloutlet.
oUnplugthecontrol’sdatacablefromthehookupbox.
oStorethecontrolinasafeplacetopreventpossibletheftorvandalism.
•RefertoScoreboardCarebelowforadditionalinformation.
SCOREBOARD CARE
YourFair‐Playscoreboard,wheninstalledasdirectedbytheinstallationinstructions,is
designedandconstructedtowithstandnormalenvironmentalconditions.Becauseofits
seasonalusage,particularlyforoutdoorfootballandbaseballscoreboards,longlifewith
minimumservicecanbeexpectedbycaringforthescoreboardduringoff‐season.
CAUTION:
•Disconnectpowerbeforeservicing.
•Followsafetyprecautions.
OFF SEASON
•TurnpowerOFF.
•Portablescoreboardscanbedisconnectedandremovedfromtheirsupportsandstored
inanindoorlocation.
•Thecontrolmustbeunplugged,placedintheircarryingcaseandstoredinadrylocation
ofmoderatetemperatures.
PRE-SEASON
•Asaprecautionarymeasure,thescoreboardshouldbeinspected,reassembled,and
tested6to8weeksinadvanceofthegameseason.
•ToensurethattheLEDsareoperatingatoptimumbrightness,removeanyaccumulated
dirtanddebrisfromthescoreboardbywashingtheexteriorofscoreboardwithahighly
diluteddishsoapsolutionandasoftbristledbrush.Rinsegentlywithtapwaterusinga
gardenhosespraynozzle.
CAUTION
•Donotuseahighpressuresprayer.

electrician.

•VerifythatthecontrolisturnedON.
•Verifythattheshortdatacableisconnectedfromthecontrolto
thehookupbox.
•Wirelesssystemonly—verifythatthebothscoreboardand
controlareoperatingonthesamechannel.Refertothecontrol
usermanualforadditionalinformation.
•Verifythatthecontrolisprogrammedforthecorrectsportand
scoreboardtype.Refertothecontrolusermanualforadditional
information.
