Introduction
Please read your operators handbook carefully before commissioning and using
your Storm unit. Keep your handbook in a safe place.
Congratulations on your purchase of a Trans Tank International Storm Dust Suppression
Unit!
The Trans Tank International Dust Suppression System is a truck-mounted tank and
water dispenser system designed to suppress dust on unmade roads, construction
sites and other places where dust needs to be controlled. These quality built units
are supplied to you complete, tested and ready for use. TTi recommends that only
water be used in the Dust Suppression Unit.
This manual contains specific instructions for operation, driving stability &
maintenance. If properly maintained and driven safely, the Dust Suppression Unit will
provide many years of service. Trans Tank International warrant that this equipment
has been designed and built for its intended purpose of a dust suppression system
dispensing water. It is the responsibility of the owner to ensure that the equipment
is operated according to this document, in accordance with Australian Worksafe
requirements, applicable road rules and local council regulations.
Trans Tank International will not be held liable for any loss, injury or death resulting
from the failure to observe all safe working regulations as required by law.

Safety
General
The following pages outline important safety information. As safety is a priority at
TTI we have included some basic safety requirements. These safety and warning
instructions MUST be followed to ensure the safe operation of your equipment.
Explanation of key terms used in this operator’s manual are:
Danger - You will be killed or seriously hurt if you don’t follow instructions
Warning - You can be seriously hurt if you don’t follow instructions
Caution - You can be hurt if you don’t follow instructions
Note - Used for information that is important but not hazard related
General
• Water tanks are not designed for use with diesel fuel or any flammable liquid.
• Do not use this machine in ambient temperatures exceeding 50 degrees Celsius.
Warnings
• Any unauthorised modifications to this equipment may affect its function and
create a serious safety risk and will void any warranty
• Keep clear of overhead obstructions – especially power lines as contact can be
fatal.
• Never attempt to clean parts, or nozzles, by blowing with mouth
• Ensure equipment is securely fastened, or attached, to vehicle at all times
• Ensure that hydraulic isolation valve is always open before operation
The Operator
All operators of this equipment should be adequately trained in the safe operation
of this equipment. It is important that all operators have read and fully understand
the operator’s manual prior to using this equipment.
All new operators should be trained in an area without bystanders or obstructions
and become familiar with all controls, valves and systems prior to operation. Only
persons in good physical and mental health should operate this DSU. Do not allow
anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol to operate this DSU.

Personal Protective Equipment [PPE]
Always wear close fitting clothing and safety equipment designed for the job.
Exposure to loud noise over an extended period can cause impairment or loss
of hearing. Be active in the conservation of your hearing and wear appropriate
hearing protection at all times.
Fluids Under Pressure
DO NOT disconnect any hoses, nozzles or filters while equipment is operating.
Disconnecting these components while under pressure may result in uncontrolled
fluid discharge which may be hazardous. If any components are removed for repair,
when the repair is complete ensure that all fittings and lines are secured before re-
applying pressure.
Safety Decals
Understanding safety decals and their purpose assists in the safe operation of your
water cart. Safety decals are there for your protection and it is the responsibility of
the owner operator to replace damaged and/or missing safety decals. Regularly
review safety decals with operators.
Vehicle Safety
Observe vehicle manufacturers instructions & warnings. It is the operator’s
responsibility to ensure that the dust suppression system is safe and securely mounted
on the carrying vehicle.
Warning: Do not exceed the carrying & braking capacities as specified by the
vehicle manufacturer
Weight of Liquids
Liquids have different densities and this affects the maximum volume a tank can
hold. The total weight of any tank should not exceed the weight of a full tank
of water. Water has a density of 1 ie. 1 Litre of water weighs 1Kilogram.Certain
fertilizers have a higher density Eg. Liquid nitrogen has a density of ~1.28. Thus the
total volume of liquid nitrogen in a 5000L tank should not exceed 3900 (5000/1.28 =
3906)

General Information
Description Overview
The unit is designed to carry and distribute water using a hydraulic powered water
pump & various water dispensing systems. A number of features incorporated in
the design are intended to ensure safe operation but it is the owner/operator’s
responsibility to ensure that this equipment is mounted securely and operated safely
at all times.
1. In-cab controls allow for safe operation of the various water dispensing systems,
the adjustment of the water pump flow rate, as well as the Amber flashing
beacon.
2. A pressure regulator is fitted to the pump discharge flange to control line pressure
& prevent pump cavitation. The factory-set regulator feeds excess water back to
the tank and is set to relieve at 80 psi.
3. Batter sprays [if fitted] are mounted to the pressurised spray bar by means of
camlock or roll-groove fittings in order to facilitate removal for cleaning or
replacement. All pressurised spray bar pipes are supplied with removable end
caps to facilitate cleaning internally should this be necessary.
4. The LiquidLocker™ system provides improvements in braking performance &
dynamic stability and controllability.
5. Frame (if supplied) The chassis frame of the Storm™ is a fully welded, all steel
construction which has been hot dip galvanised for corrosion resistance.
6. All TTi tanks are constructed from UV resistant, virgin polyethylene. Due to
the rotational moulding process, there can be a small variance in the overall
dimensions of the tank, therefore calibration markings should be used as a guide
only. A sight level tube is fitted to the tank.
7. Machine limitations All equipment is subject to operating limitations, it is the
operator’s responsibility to ensure that this equipment is being operated within
these limitations and appropriately to the operating conditions at hand.
8. Driving stability warning: To maintain stability while operating this unit,
• Ensure truck tyres are inflated to their proper pressure at all times. Underinflated
tyres can cause excessive lateral motion of the tyre, and may cause a rollover.
• Allow extra room for braking and turning when the tank is full.

Water Dispensing Operation (In-Cab Controlled)
The Storm™ Water Truck is controlled from the vehicle cab using the in-cab control
box which allows the operator or driver to control the pump and valves while in
motion.
Pressure Bar (if fitted)
80mm Pressure bar has end caps for complete flushing.
The solenoid controlled pressure bar is activated by the
switch on the in-cab control. It is used for primary for
road cleaning.
Spray Heads
These electric over air spray heads are individually
controlled by a solenoid and feature a fully adjustable
spray pattern. Depending on the model your unit may
have 1.5” or 3” spray heads or a combination. The
heads are mounted on the spray bar with roll groove
fittings for easy adjustment.
Dribble Bar (if fitted)
80mm Dribble bar has end caps for complete flushing.
The solenoid controlled dribble bar is activated by the
switch on the in-cab control. It is used for primary dust
suppression.

The 20 metre hose reel is fitted with an adjustable
nozzle, which permits control from off through to jet mist
spray.
Note:
Press green button to engage pump for hose reel
operation
Working Light Operation
Flick the switch to operate the light.
(The light is only operational when truck park lights are
on)

Hydrant Fill Operation
Attach the hydrant supply hose to the hydrant port.
Open hydrant slowly to ensure correct operation. Water
will flow through top hydrant filling system on unit.
When operation is complete, disconnect hose.
Bottom Fill Kit Operation
Attach the suction fill hose to the suction port.
Attach the other end of the hose to the Suction Valve
with the camlock fittings, and open the suction valve.
Open the suction valve, close the tank valve, and open
the suction standpipe valve.
Engage the pump by pressing the green button at rear
of unit.
When operation is complete:
Disengage pump by pressing green button again. Reverse
taps to original position.
Standpipe Operation
If your unit is fitted with an open mesh funnel, the tank
simply needs to be positioned below the stand pipe and
the stand pipe opened.

Maintenance
• Periodically [at least annually] check all hoses, nozzles and fittings for any sign
of wear. Replace any parts which are worn or defective
• If hose reel has not been used for any length of time. Unwind it fully to check that
hose is in good order, pressurise the line & check operation of spray nozzle etc.
Rewind & lock reel on completion as per hose reel instruction above
• Check oil level in motor weekly & drain & replace oil according to manufacturer’s
recommendations in manual supplied
• If your Storm is to be stored for any length of time, ensure tank and spray bars are
empty & no lines vare under pressure
• Ensure the air filter on the motor is cleaned daily during heavy use

Warranty Policy
1. Warranty Policy
TTI will, at its option, repair or replace, without charge, any part covered by this
warranty which is found to be defective in material and/or workmanship within
one (1) year* after date of sale to the original retail purchaser unless the product is
used for rental purposes, in which case this warranty is limited to ninety (90) days.
Upon request, the customer will make the defective part available for inspection
and/or return the defective part to TTI, transportation charges prepaid. All parts
and components are covered by this warranty except the following, which are
warranted separately by their respective manufacturers: engines, gearboxes,
pumps & regulators. TTi does not assume any warranty obligation, liability or
modification for these items, which are covered exclusively by the stated warranty
of the respective manufacturers.
2. What this Warranty Does Not Cover
2.1 This warranty does not cover defects caused by depreciation or damage caused
by incorrect mounting, normal wear, accidents, improper maintenance, improper
use or abuse of the product, alterations or failure to follow the instructions and
warnings provided.
2.2 The customer shall pay any charges for making service calls, clean up time and
transport charges.
2.3 The use of non-genuine parts on equipment supplied by TTi will automatically
negate any warranty.
3. How to Obtain Service Under This Warranty
Warranty service can be arranged by contacting your dealer or by contacting
Trans Tank International, Call 03 5866 3266 or P O Box 137, Nathalia VIC, 3638. Proof
of warranty registration and date of purchase may be required to verify warranty
coverage. Any defective parts returned to us must be accompanied by a Return
Goods Note. This form can be obtained by contacting Product

Warranty Limitations
a] There is no other express warranty. Any warranty that may be implied from this
purchase including merchantibility and finess for a particular purpose is hereby
limited to the duration of this warranty and to the extent permitted by law. Any and
all implied warranties are excluded.
b] TTI will not be liable for any incidental, consequential or special damages and/
or expenses in connection with the purchase or use of this equipment, to the extent
permitted by law.
c] Only the warranty expressed in this limited warranty shall apply and no dealer,
distributor, or individual is authorized to amend, modify, or extend this warranty
in any way. Accordingly, additional statements, whether oral or written, do not
constitute warranties by TTi, and should not be relied upon.
Whilst every care has been taken in the preparation of these instructions, no liabilities
can be accepted with regard to errors or omissions. Product specifications are
subject to change in line with our commitment to continuous improvement.
