this warranty. Any data stored on the unit and any consequential loss is not

Important Information
Battery precautions
Rugged Racers and Remote Controls are powered by NiMH battery packs
which are user replaceable.
Care & maintenance
If necessary, wipe the Rugged Racers gently with a clean damp cloth.
Keep the Rugged Racers away from direct sunlight and heat.
Do not allow the Rugged Racers to come into contact with water or other
liquids.
Please retain the information in this User Guide for future reference.
In the event of an electrostatic discharge, your Rugged Racer may
malfunction. In this case, please switch it off and then back on again to
reset it.

Rugged RacersTM
Recharging your Rugged Racers & Remotes
Insert the Battery Charger cable into the charging socket underneath the
docking station.
Plug the Battery Charger into a wall socket.
Place the Rugged Racers and Remote Controllers into the sockets.
The red LEDs on Rugged Racers and Remotes will light up to show that the
batteries are charging.
The red LEDs on the Remotes will turn green when fully charged.
The red LEDs on the Cars will turn off and the front lights will turn on when
fully charged.
It may take up to 12 hours to fully charge if the battery has been fully
discharged.
Only charge your Rugged Racers and Remotes in the docking station and
only use the battery charger provided.

Using your Rugged Racers
Your Rugged Racers have been designed so that they can all operate
simultaneously. They use four separate channels on 27MHz frequency. If you
have more than 4 x Rugged Racers, you will have to use them in separate rooms
because all similar colours operate on the same channel.
To switch the Rugged Racers on, move the slide switch under the cars to the
ON position.
To switch the Remote Control on, move the slide switch on the reverse side
to the ON position.
Press the top left button on the Remote Control to move the Rugged Racers
of the same colour forwards.
Press the lower left button on the Remote Control to move the Rugged
Racers of the same colour backwards.
Press the right button on the Remote Control to move the Rugged Racer of
the same colour right.
Press the left button on the Remote Control to move the Rugged Racer of the
same colour left.
The colour of the Remote Control must match the colour of the Rugged
Racer for it to work.
If the Rugged Racers do not move forwards in a straight line, adjust the
straight line adjuster.
When the batteries are low, the Rugged Racers will operate intermittently.
Place them into the docking station to charge the batteries.
Replacing the battery
Using a screwdriver, unscrew the retaining screw and remove the battery
cover.
Remove the battery pack and dispose of responsibly.
Insert new battery pack ensuring replacement battery pack is of the same
type, and inserted with the correct polarity.

Troubleshooting
Your Rugged Racers have been designed to work within an Early Years
environment. However, it is not intended to be dropped or trodden on or
otherwise mistreated.
Under no circumstances should you open up the Rugged Racers or Remote
Controllers as this will invalidate your warranty.
LED Status
Your Rugged Racers and Remote Controllers have lights and LEDs that give the
user information about charging and product usage.
Car
Front lights on – power is on
Front lights on when docked – car is fully charged
Back lights on – power is on and car is reversing
Back lights on when docked – car is charging
Remote
Green LED on – signal being sent to car
Green LED on when docked – Remote is fully charged
Red LED on when docked – Remote is charging
Rugged Racers does not move
Lights come on, but no movement
Car doesn’t travel straight
Ensure Power switch is “ON”
Ensure the batteries are charged
Recharge the batteries
Adjust the straight-line adjuster
Check for dirt in the wheels

Specification
International Charging Adaptor
The Rugged Racers are supplied with a multi-region adaptor. The adaptor is
supplied with the UK plug fitted but you can change this easily to suit any country.
Press the release button behind the plug head and slide the UK plug out and
replace with the required plug module. Slide the plug module in until it “clicks” in
place securely.
The battery charger to be used with the product should be regularly examined for
potential hazards such as damage to the cable, cord, plug, enclosure or other
parts. In the event of any damage, the adaptor must not be used until the
damage has been properly repaired.
The toy is not intended for children under 3 years old.
