Quick Start Guide
Congratulations on your purchase of the TransAccess 155. This Quick Start Guide describes the steps
necessary to unpack, install, and initialize your new equipment. It is strongly recommended that you read this
entire document before proceeding.
This document is supplemental to the full
Operations Manual for the TransAccess 155.

Step 1
Unpack & Mount the TransAccess 155

 Contents of the box may vary
depending on options
ordered.
Carefull

remove
all items from
the box.  Inventory all items against the
packing list.
B
 The shelf mounting ears may already be attached.
 For the flush mounting option reverse the ears per Section 2.2 of the Operations
Manual.
Install the
shel

mounting
ears.

 Match the holes in the
mounting ears to the tapped
holes in the relay rack.

ttach the
shelf to
the rack.
 Be sure to mount the
equipment so that it matches
the mounting space
boundaries on the rack. All 4
holes must line up.
 Use four #12-24 screws.
 Leave space above and below the TransAccess 155 if airflow would otherwise be
restricted.

Install Office Wiring
A
Connect Office
Battery.
 Connect "A" and/or "B"
-48V at the rear of the
TransAccess 155 shelf.
(Refer to Chapter 2 in
the Operations Manual.
 Use up to 12 gauge wire
(14 gauge recommended).
 Do not turn the power on.
B
Connect Office
A
larms.
 Connect Minor, Major,
and Critical alarms at
the rear of the
TransAccess 155 shelf.
 Use up to 18 gauge
wire.
 Common, Normally-open, and Normally-closed contacts are provided.
 See Chapter 2 of the Operations Manual for more details.

Connect T1
and/or E1
facilities.
 Connect T1 connections
using the Turin Networks
cable assembly (part
number 815-00089-
XXX).

Connect the
fiber por
t
 Connect the customer
supplied fiber cables to
the fiber ports of the
OMX84 module.

Step 3

Power-up & Initialize the shelf
A
Power-up the
TransAccess
155 shelf.
 Turn on "A" and/or "B" Battery by
throwing the appropriate switch or
inserting the appropriate fuse at the
Distribution Fuse Panel.
 After the on-line OMX84 status LED
turns green, momentarily press (
than 1 second) the Lamp Test
button on either OMX84 Module.
All the LEDs in the shelf should illuminate.

Connect the
User Interface
Device (UID).
 Connect the User
Interface Device (UID)
(customer-supplied PC
or Terminal) to the User
System Interface (USI)
port on the OMX84
Module.
 Note: the UID may be connected to either OMX84 module.
 Use Turin Networks cable 815-00011-XXX.
 See Chapter 4 of the Operations Manual for more information.

Launch the
terminal
program on
the UID.
 Start the VT100 terminal program.
(Settings are VT100 emulation,
Data Bits = 8, Parity = none, Stop
Bit = 1, Flow Control = none, Baud
Rate = 1200 up to 115,200).
 Press "Enter" twice to initiate
communications.
 Enter the password at the Login prompt -default is "admin".

 Select "CONFIG" at the top-level
menu.

 If Remote Management is required,
select "IP/SNMP/DCC" in the
drop-down menu.

Operation
 Move the cursor to the IP Address,
Netmask, and Gateway locations
and enter the information. ^S to save.

 From the Main Menu, select
"CONFIG", then "LINE".

Configure
the OMX84
module
options.  Configure the settings as required
by using the cursor keys to select
the field and the space bar to toggle
each selection.

 From the Main Menu, select
"CONFIG", then "DROP".

Configure
T1 ports.
 Configure the settings as required
by using the cursor keys to select
the field and the space bar to
toggle each selection.
 If a T1 port LBO is not selected,
the T1 port will be disabled and
input alarms will not be reported for that tributary.

 Connect appropriate test sets to the T1 and/or
OC-3 facility connections.
Verif
y
integrity o
f
the circuits.  Verify error-free transmission through each
OMX84 service module.
 If errors occur, check the
configuration and retest.
