1. Caution
tAlways use set voltage. (DC 12V)
tAll operating instructions must be read and
understood before the product is operated.
These safety and operating instructions must
be kept in safe place for future reference.
tAll warnings on the product and in the
instructions must be observed closely.
tAll operating instructions must be followed.
tDo not use attachments not recommended
by the manufacturer. Use of inadequate
attachments can result in accidents.
tThis product must be operated on a power
source specied on the specication label.
tIf you are not sure of the type of power supply
used in your home, consult your dealer or local
power company. For units designed to operate
on batteries or another power source, refer to
the operating instructions.
tThe power cords must be routed properly
to prevent people from stepping on them or
objects from resting on them. Check the cords
at the plugs and product.
tIn case of using other 12V DC adapters instead
of the standard adapter provided by the
manufacturer, please check the proper load
capacity (or current capacity) and use an
adapter with stable voltage.
tDo not overload DC outlets or extension cords.
Overloading can cause or electric shock.
tNever insert an object into the product through
vents or openings. High voltage in the
product, and inserting an object can cause
electric shock and/or short internal parts. For
the same reason, do not spill water or liquid on
the product.
tDo not attempt to service the product yourself.
Removing covers can expose you to high voltage
and other dangerous conditions. Request a
qualied service person to perform servicing.
t If any of the following conditions occurs, unplug
the power cord from the DC outlet, and request
a qualied service person to perform repairs.
a. When the power cord or plug is damaged.
b. When a liquid was spilled on the product or
when objects have fallen into the product.
c. When the product has been exposed to rain
or water.
d. When the product does not operate properly
as described in the operating instructions.
Do not touch the controls other than those
described in the operating instructions.
Improper adjustment of controls not described
in the instructions can cause damage,
which often requires extensive adjustment
work by a qualied technician.
e. When the product has been dropped or
damaged.
f. When the product displays an abnormal
condition. Any noticeable abnormality in the
product indicates that the product needs
servicing.
tIn case the product needs replacement parts,
make sure that the service person uses
replacement parts specied by the manufacturer,
or those with the same characteristics and
performance as the original parts. Use of
unauthorized parts can result in re, electric
shock and/or other danger.
tUpon completion of service or repair work,
request the service technician to perform safety
checks to ensure that the product is in proper
operating condition.

1. Caution
tWhen mounting the product on a wall or ceiling,
be sure to install the product according to the
method recommended by the manufacturer.
tUnplug the power cord from the DC outlet
before cleaning the product. Use a damp cloth
to clean the product. Do not use liquid cleaners
or aerosol cleaners.
tUnplug the power cord from the AC outlet if
you do not use the product for considerably
long time.
tDo not use the product near water, such as
bathtub, washbasin, kitchen sink and laundry
tub, swimming pool and in a wet basement.
tKeep the product away from direct rays of the
Sun-light.
tDo not place the product on an unstable cart,
stand, tripod or table. Placing the product on an
unstable base can cause the product to fall,
resulting in serious personal injuries as well as
damage to the product. Use only a cart, stand,
tripod, bracket or table recommended by the
manufacturer or sold with the product. When
mounting the product on a wall, be sure to
follow the manufacturer’s instruction. Use only
the mounting hardware recommended by the
manufacturer.
tWhen relocating the product placed on a cart, it
must be moved with the utmost care.
tSudden stops, excessive force and uneven
oor surface can cause the product to fall from
the cart.
tThe vents and other openings in the
cabinet are designed for ventilation. Do not
cover or block these vents and openings since
insucient ventilation can cause overheating
and/or shorten the life of the product. Do not
place the product on a bed, sofa, rug or other
similar surface, since they can block ventilation
openings. This product is not designed for
built-in installation; do not place the product
in an enclosed place such as a bookcase or rack,
unless proper ventilation is provided or the
manufacturer’s instructions are followed.
tIn case of installation the product on the rack,
the inside of the product would be overheated
due to heat from other devices near by and the
decrease of air circulation, which could damage
to the monitor. To prevent the damage, please
have enough space for the monitors and use
fan to avoid heat and maintain the operating
temperature. (Refer to the specication of the
product).
tThe LCD panel used in this product is made of
glass. Therefore, it can break when the product
is dropped or applied with impact. Be careful
not to be injured by broken glass pieces in case
the LCD panel breaks.
tKeep the product away from heat sources
such as radiators, heaters, stoves and other heat
generating products (including ampliers).

tPGM (Mini HDMI)
- This terminal is used to upgrade the rmware
or color calibration made by TVLogic.
tAUDIO OUT (Phone Jack)
- Used for Stereo Audio Output through Phone
Jack. (video signals with embedded audio only)
tKnob (Rotary Encoder)
- Scroll up and down the Knob to move the
cursor and press the Knob to select an item.
- Used to move within the menu when OSD
menu is activated, and is also used to decrease
or increase the value of the selected feature.
- When OSD menu is inactivated, press the
knob to adjust the value of Brightness, Contrast,
Chroma, Aperture or Volume.
- In Pixel to Pixel mode, scroll the knob to
move the displayed area from clockwise or
counterclockwise.
- In Luma(Y’) Zone Check mode, it is used to
adjust the value.
- Press the knob to select the main menu and
sub menus.

- Select SD/HD/3G-SDI Signal.

- SD/HD-SDI Signal Output which is input
through [SDI-IN] terminal.

activate designated FUNCTION.
- Press the button for more than 2 seconds to
activate the Function Select menu. (Scan,
Aspect, H/V Delay, etc)
- After pressing the button for more than 2
seconds, the function which was selected
previously is displayed. Use the Knob to change
the function.
* Function Select button can be set in the main
menu [SYSTEM].

ವUser may control various functions using MENU
button on the back and the Knob on the side of
the monitor.
ವOSD(On-Screen Display) Menu helps you use
various functions.
ವThis Picture is the menu structure for
VFM-056W/VFM-056WP.
Press MENU button to activate the OSD menu.
2. Move to a desired menu by scrolling the Knob.
3. Press the Knob to select a menu and move to
select a sub-menu by scrolling the Knob.
4. Press the Knob to select the desired sub
menu. (The selected sub-menu will be
highlighted)
5. Press ENTER button or MENU button to
save the new value after adjusting the value
by scrolling the Knob.
6. Press MENU button to return to previous menu
and if there is no previous menu, the OSD menu
will be removed from the screen.

6. Menu Operations
tBrightness
- Used to set the brightness(oset) level from
-100 to 100.
tContrast
- Used to set the contrast(gain) level from -100
to 100.
tChroma
- Used to set the saturation level from -50 to 50.
tPhase
- Used to set the hue(phase) level from -40 to 40.
tAperture
- Used to set the sharpness level from -5 to 19.
tNTSC Setup
- Used to set Black Level of NTSC video as 0(zero
setup) or 7.5 IRE.
- Activated when NTSC video signal is input
through Composite 1/2/3 or S-VIDEO terminal.
tKnob Lock
- Locks the Knob control(APERTURE, BRIGHT,
CHROMA, CONTRAST, VOLUME).
tColor Temp.
- Controls color temperature and allows instant
access to preset color temperature settings.
- Available color temperatures are 3200K,
5000K, 5600K, 6500K, 9300K and User 1/2/3.
- In User 1/2/3 modes, user can dene custom
RGB GAIN and BIAS (Oset) values.
tGain Red/Green/Blue
- Used to set R/G/B Gain(or Picture, Contrast)
level from -256 to 255.
# Only available in User 1/2/3 mode.
tBias Red/Green/Blue
- Used to set R/G/B Bias(or Oset, mainly aects
on Black level) from -100 to 100.
# Only available in User 1/2/3 mode.
tColor Copy
- Used to copy the R/G/B Gain value of pre-
stored color temperature settings.
- In User mode, nd and select the color
temperature and press Enter button to copy
and apply the Gain value to GAIN RED, GAIN
GREEN, GAIN BLUE.
# Only available in User 1/2/3 mode.

tMarker Enable
- Used to activate the Marker function.
tMarker Type
- Used to select the marker type.
- Available marker types are OFF, 16:9, 4:3, 4:3
ON AIR, 15:9, 14:9, 13:9, 1.85:1, 2.35:1, 1.85:1 &
4:3 and USER.
tCenter Marker
- Displays the Center Marker on the screen.
tSafety Area
- Used to select to display and controls the size
and availability of the Safety Area.
- Available sizes are 80%, 85%, 88%, 90%, 93%,
100%, EBU ACTION 16:9, EBU GRAPHIC 16:9, EBU
ACTION 14:9, EBU GRAPHIC 14:9, EBU ACTION
4:3 and EBU GRAPHIC 4:3.
tFit Marker
- Used to activate or inactivate the Fit Marker
function.
- When the Marker type is selected in the Marker
menu, a border line of the Safety Area will be
displayed inside the Marker.Images below
show the dierence between Fit Marker ON
and OFF.
tMarker Mat
- Used to set the darkeness level outside of the
MARKER area from OFF(transparent) to 7(Black).
- The bigger the value, the darker the color.
tMarker Color
- Used to set the color of the MARKER lines.
- Available colors are white, gray, black, red,
green and blue.
tMarker Thickness
- Used to set the thickness of the MARKER lines.
- Thickness level is from 1 to 7 by the pixel unit.
tUSER Marker H1
- Used to set the position of the rst horizontal
marker line.
- Displayed when MARKER menu is set to USER.
tUSER Marker H2
- Used to set the position of the second
horizontal marker line.
- Displayed when MARKER menu is set to USER.
tUSER Marker V1
- Used to set the position of the rst vertical
marker line.
- Displayed when MARKER menu is set to USER.
tUSER Marker V2
- Used to set the position of the second vertical
marker line.
- Displayed when MARKER menu is set to USER.

tUser Aspect Horizontal/User Aspect Vertical
- Activated only when [SCAN] mode is set to
[User Aspect] .
- User can adjust the Horizontal and Vertical size
of the screen.
- See section “Other Functions [2] User Aspect”
(page 21) for more information.
tPixel To Pixel Position
- Activated only when [SCAN] mode is set to
[Pixel-To-Pixel].
- When the resolution of the input video
signal(ex. 1920×1080) is higher than that of
the monitor(1280×800), only area equivelant to
1280×800 out of the 1920×1080 will be
displayed in the [Pixel to Pixel] mode.

- Used to select 3G-SDI A/B input format among
NORMAL MODE(AUTO - A 422 10BIT_YCbCr
50/60P), A 444 10/12BIT_YCbCr, A 444 10/12BIT_
RGB, A 422 12BIT_YCbCr, B 444 10/12BIT_YCbCr,
B 444 10/12BIT_RGB, B 422 12BIT_YCbCr, B 422
10BIT_YCbCr 50/60P.
- In NORMAL MODE, automatically detected
when Payload signal is contained.
tScan
- Used to change the Scan mode. Scroll up and
down the Knob and the mode will be changed
as the following sequence.
- [Zero Scan] -> [Over Scan] -> [Pixel-To-Pixel] ->
[User Aspect]

# [USER ASPECT]: User can control the aspect
ratio by adjusting width and height of the
display.
- See section “Other Functions [2] User Aspect”
on page 21 for more information.
tAspect
- Used to change the display ratio between 4:3
and 16:9.
* Display ratio is xed to 16:9 if the display ratio
of input signal is 16:9.
tH/V Delay
- Used to monitor the Blanking area for H sync
and V sync.
tBlue Only
- Used to switch in the order of [O]-[Blue Only]-
[Mono]-[O].
- Press the button to remove red and green
components from the input signal and display
blue componet only.
- Press the button again to switch to mono-
chrome mode which has no chroma signal.

tFocus Assist Level
- Used to set the edge dierence value between
the edges in an image.
- Available values are from 0 to 100. Larger value
means more sophisticated detail detection.
- Designated color is displayed when the difference
of the edges exceeds the previously set value.
- This feature is available only when the FOCUS
ASSIST mode is activated.

tTimeCode
-
Used to set the time code among OFF, VITC and LTC.
tImage Mirror (Hor.)
- Used to reverse the left and right of the image.
- The OSD menu is also reversed.
tScreen TALLY On/O
- Used to set Tally operation according to
the input level of TALLY IN terminal which is
among the terminals of XLR 4P connector in
the rear.
tScreen TALLY Operating Level
- Used to set the input level of Tally operation.
(Open&Low : less than 0.6V, High : more than
2.5V)
- High: Set the level as “High” to activate the
Tally and set the level as “Low” to inactivate
the Tally.
- Low: Set the level as “Low” to activate the Tally
and set the level as “High” to inactivate the Tally.
tScreen TALLY Color
- Used to set Tally color.
- Available colors are Red, Green and Yellow.
tZoom
- Used to magnify the image up to 90% on a
pixel basis and is displayed on full screen.
* (e.g.,10% Zoom : If the input signal’s resolution
is 1920 x 1080, only 90% (1728(H) x 976(V)) of
the image would be shown on full screen
without 10% (192(H) x 108(V)) of the image.)

tZoom Width Scroll
- Activated when [Zoom] mode is selected.
- Used to move the enlarged image to the left/
right by scrolling the Knob.
tZoom Height Scroll
- Activated when [Zoom] mode is selected.
- Used to move the enlarged image to the Up/
Down by scrolling the Knob.
tDSLR SCALE
- This is a special function for CANON DSLR camera.
- Used to scale the image with dierent
resolution as to the operation mode(Live View/
Record/ PlayBack) of the camera to fullll the
screen.

tFocus Assist
- Used to indicate the pixels of good focus with
a designated color.
tFocus Assist Color
- Used to select a color for FOCUS ASSIST among
red, green and blue.

tWaveform Size
- Used to control the size of the Waveform or
Vectorscope between Small and Large.
* See section “Other Function [3] Waveform/
Vectorscope” on page 22 for more information.
tLine Waveform
- Used to select whether the entire data or one
line data will be displayed on the Waveform/
Vectorscope.
tSelect Line Position
- Used to select specic Vertical Line for
Waveform/Vectorscope.
- It is available when LINE Waveform is activated.
- To activate this feature, go to [WFM/LevelCHK]-
[Waveform/Vector]-[Select Line Position] and
use the Knob to select a vertical line.
- Control range varies according to the resolution
of the input SDI signal.
* PAL : Min 17, Max 522
* NTSC : Min 23, Max 623
* 720p : Min 26, Max 750
* 1080i : Min 21, Max 1123
* 1080p : Min 42, Max 1121
- Control range for HDMI/Analog signal varies
according to the output resolution of the
singnal.
* Min 0, Max 800
tWaveform/Vector
- Used to select among [O], [Waveform Y],
[Waveform Cb], [WaveForm Cr], [Vectorscope].
- Waveform or Vectorscope is displayed on the
bottom right of the screen.
- Vectorscope : Displays the color components
B’-Y’ and R’-Y’ of the input signals on the X-Y axis.
- Is classied into two kinds depending on
the input signal – SD or HD. 100% and 75% are
indicated on the screen.
- Waveform YCbCr: Displays each waveform
for luma(Y’) and Cb/Cr components of the
input signal.
tWaveform Intensity
- Used to set the brightness level of the
Waveform/ Vectorscope display from 1 to 63.
- The higher the number the brighter the
waveform will be.
tWaveform Trans.
- Used to select the transparency option of the
Waveform/ Vectorscope between Opaque
and Blend.
- Even if the option is set to [Opaque], it will
automatically turn to [Blend] when the main
OSD overlaps the waveform/vectorscope.
And turns back to [Opaque] when the main OSD
disappears.

tY Max
- Used to set the maximum luma(Y’) level from
0 to 255.
- Pixels with values exceeding the max Y’ level
will blink in the screen, and displayed as red on
the Waveform.
tY Min
- Used to set the minimum luma(Y’) level from
0 to 255.
- Pixels with values exceeding the min Y’ level
will blink in the screen, and displayed as red on
the WaveForm.
tC Max
- Used to set the maximum chroma(C’) level
from 0 to 255.
- Pixels with values exceeding the min C’ level
will blink in the screen, and displayed as red on
the Waveform.
tC Min
- Used to set the minimum chroma(C’) level from
0 to 255.
- Pixels with values exceeding the min C’ level
will blink in the screen, and displayed as red on
the Wavefo rm.
tY Picture Blink
- Used to set whether or not to blink pixels with
values exceeding Y MAX and Y MIN.
tC Picture Blink
- Used to set whether or not to blink pixels with
values exceeding C MAX and C MIN.
tLuma(Y’) Zone Check
- Used to analyze the Luma(Y’) level of the input
video signal and display the selected sector on
the screen to aid exposure setting of the camera.
- Each pixel’s Y’ level is displayed as a color and
the color is changed as indicated on the Index
on the right.
- If Y’ level of the pixel is under 0%(16 in 8 bit
video encoding), the color will be shown as green.
- If the Y’ level is between 0% and 100%, Y’ level
will be indicated as Gray Level except the
designated Luma Zone.
- If the Luma(Y’) Zone is selected, the area is
shown as Yellow(10%), pink(5%) and cyan(10%).
tLuma(Y’) Zone Adjust
- Used to set the designated level for yellow,
pink and cyan zone by scrolling the Knob.
- Control range is from 0 to 100%.

Check” on page 24 for more information.
tRange Error
- Used to set whether or not to activate Y MAX,
Y MIN, C MAX, C MIN, Y PICTURE BLINK and C
PICTURE BLINK functions.
- The values of Y MAX, Y MIN, C MAX, C MIN are
indicated in Waveform/Vectorscope.
- If [Y PICTURE BLINK] or [C PICTURE BLINK] is
enabled, the section of image that exceeds the
selected values of Y MAX, Y MIN, C MAX and C
MIN shall blink.

tAudio Volume
- Used to control the output volume for the
internal speakers or [AUDIO OUT] on the back
of the monitor.
- Control range is from 0 to 30.
tEm. Audio Left/Right
- Used to set embedded audio channel for
internal speaker or [AUDIO OUT] terminal on
the back of the monitor.
- SDI Input: Available values are between O
and CH16.
- HDMI(HDCP 1.1 Version) Input: Channel 1 is
displayed on the top left and Channel 2 is
displayed on the top right.
tAudio Level Meter
- Used to set the Level Meter for the embedded
audio.
- Available options are OFF, 16 CH(HOR.) and 16
CH(VER.)
- SDI Input : [O]-[16CH(Hor.)]-[16CH(Ver.)]
- HDMI Input: [O]-[2CH(Hor.)]-[2CH(Ver.)]
* 16 CH(HOR.) : Displays 8 channels on top
left and 8 channels on top right of the screen
horizontally.
*16 CH(VER.) : Displays 8 channels on center
left and 8 channels on top right of the screen
vertically.
tLevel Meter Display (SDI Only)
- Used to set the display method for audio level
meter.
- Activates only under SDI Input.
- Available modes are Group and Pair.
tLevel Meter Reference
- Display the default audio level meter value,
ranging from -18dB to -20dB.
- Audio level meter within selected value turns
to green and exceeded audio level is displayed
in yellow.
- Audio level exceeding -4dB is displayed in red.
tLevel Meter Size
- Used to control the size of the audio level
meters.
- Available options are NORMAL and LAGRE.
tLevel Meter Decay Time
- Sets the reduction time for max value
indication of audio signals.
- Control range is from MIN 0 to MAX 100. Bigger
number means a longer display time for max
value.

tSystem Default
- Used to initialize OSD values to factory default.
tBack Light
- Used to indicate the backlight level.
- In case of System Default, the value returns to
factory default(after color calibration).
- Available values are from 0 to 50.
tInternal Pattern
- Generates internal white pattern. Selectable
range for white level is from 0% to 100% with
5% increment.
tFUNC. Key Mapping (VFM-056WP Only)
- Used to assign a function to [Func.] button.
- Selectable Functions : [Scan],[Aspect],[Marker],
[H/V Delay],[Blue Only],[MaxBright],[Zoom],
[TimeCode],[Audio Level M.],[Focus Assist],
[WaveForm*],[Range Error*],[Luma Zone*] and
[DSLR SCALE]
- Functions above are activated after pressing
the [㙾FUNC./㙾
㚃㚃㚃㚃㚃 FUNC. SEL.] button on the
back of the monitor for more than 2 seconds.
tHDMI To SDI Throughout
- Video source from ‘HDMI input’ terminal can
be output through ‘SDI throughout’ terminal.
- Only 59.94i or 59.94p formats are available for
‘SDI Throughout’ function.
- Video format from SDI output is xed to
1280x720/59.94p.
tFirmware Version
- Displays current rmware version.
tSerial Number
- Displays the serial number of the monitor.

7. Button Functions
tUsed to make a quick setting of the
Function Key.
1. Press the [㙾#FUNC./ 㙾
㚃㚃㚃㚃㚃 FUNC. SEL.] button
on the back of the monitor for more than 2
seconds and activate the OSD menu as
follows.
Move to desired function and press [ENTER]
button to select.
2. Once the function is set, press the
[㙾#FUNC./㙾
㚃㚃㚃㚃㚃#FUNC. SEL.] button to activate
the function.
tVFM-056W / VFM-056WP supports various
input signals.
1. Press the [㙾#MENU<EXIT>/ 㙾
㚃㚃㚃㚃㚃 SOURCE]
button on the back of the monitor for more
than 2 seconds and OSD menu is activated as
follows.
2. Input signal information is displayed at the
bottom of the OSD menu.
3. Press [㙾#MENU<EXIT>/ 㙾
㚃㚃㚃㚃㚃 SOURCE] button
again to remove the OSD menu from display.
# If no image is displayed after selecting the
desired input mode, check and make sure that
connection is not lose or disconnected.

[1] Pixel to Pixel
* VFM-056W / VFM-056WP monitors provide
pixel count info using Pixel to Pixel mode.
* Select [Scan] mode in the OSD menu by
pressing the [㙾#FUNC.㙾
㚃㚃㚃㚃㚃 FUNC. SEL.] button
to activate the[Pixel To Pixel] mode.
* After activation of [Pixel To Pixel] mode, use the
Knob to move the position.
# Pixel to Pixel mode is not available for Graphic
Signal input.
# Pixel to Pixel mode works for SD signal, when
the input resolution is lower than the monitors
native resolution.
tPositions in HD Signal 1080i/1080p mode
