ThesemodelsnowincludeBBCiPlayerplaybackviatheBBC1redbuttonservice.BBCiPlayeroffersacatch
upserviceforalltheBBCchannels(programmeavailabilitydependantonBBC),allowingyoutoselectfrom
“mostpopular”,by“Channel”,and“Search”inordertolocatetheprogrammeyouwanttowatch.
Anotherusefulfeaturenowavailableissoftwareupdatesviatheinternet.TVonicswillstillmaketheUSB
updatescurrentlyavailable,butthisnewfeaturemeansthatyoucansimplyandquicklygetthelatest
featuresonyourDigitalTVRecorderwithouthavingtouseaPC.
ThesenewfeaturesmakeuseofyourDigitalTVRecorder’sinternetconnectioncapability,asthe
contentisdownloadedviatheinternet.TheconnectioncanbemadeeitherbytheEthernetconnectoron
therearoftheDigitalTVRecorderorviaWiFi(usingaWiFiUSBadaptoravailablefromwww.tvonics.com).
Fora“Wired”connectionyouwillneedtoconnectanEthernetcablefromyourroutertotheoneonthe
rearoftheDigitalTVRecorder(availableseparately)andfora“Wireless”connectionwillhavetoconnecta
WiFiDongletotherearoftheDigitalTVRecorderandsetituponyourWiFiNetwork.
NB:itisrecommendedthatyouhaveatleasta2Mb/sinternetconnectiontouseBBCiPlayerandotherinternetfunctions.

TheDigitalTVRecorderalsogivesyoutheoptiontosetuptheinternetconnectionmanually.We
recommendthatyoudoNOTusetheAdvancedSetupfeaturesunlessyouareveryfamiliarwithinternet
setupandhavespecialrequirementsforyourdigitalTVRecordertooperateonyournetwork.
TousethisfeatureselectNetworksettings(inNetworkSettings,fromtheSettingsMenu)and
selectManualNetworkSetup.Inthisfunctionyouareabletoselectwiredorwirelessconnection,WiFi
encryption,manualsetupofSSIDandWiFiKeyaswellasscanningforavailableWifisignals.
Bypressing[YELLOW]youareabletoconfigureyournetworksetupmanually.IfAutomaticis
selectedtheIPandotheraddressesareobtainedviaDHCP,andtheMACaddressoftheDigitalTV
Recorder(orWifiadaptor)isdisplayed.IfManualisselectedthenyouareabletonavigateandchangethe
IPandotheraddressesyourself(thisisnotrecommendedfornon‐advancedusers)tosavepress[GREEN]
and[GREEN]againtoapplythesettingsandtestthenetworkconnection.
YouareabletotestthenetworkconnectionatanytimeusingtheNetworktestoptioninthe
NetworkSettingsMenu.
SoftwareUpgrade
ItisnowpossibletoupdatethesoftwareonyourDigitalTVRecorderusingtheinternet(connection
requiredasdetailedabove).Thisnewfeatureensuresthatyoukeepuptodatewithallthelatest
improvementsandfeaturesassoonastheyareavailablewithouttheneedtouseyourPC.
OncethenewsoftwareisinstalledyourDigitalTVRecorderwillperiodicallycheckfornewupdatesand
installthem.Ifyouprefernottoinstallnewsoftwareautomaticallythenyouareabletochangethiswithin
theGeneralsettingsmenu:
1. Press[MENU]thenpressthe[DOWN]arrowstoselect“Settings”,press[OK].
2. Select“GeneralSettings”,press[OK].
3. Usethe[UP/DOWN]arrowstoselect“UpdateSoftware”
4. Usethe[LEFT/RIGHT]arrowstochangethesettingfromautomaticallyto“Prompt”or“Off”press
[BACK]or[MENU]toexit.
If“Prompt”isselectedthenifnewsoftwareisfoundyouwillseeabannertoaskifyouwouldliketo
updateornot,andif“Off”isselectedtheDigitalTVRecorderwillneversearchfornewupdates.
WeRecomendthatyouleavethissettingonAutomaticallytomakesureyougetthelatestfeatures
Ifyouwishtosearchforupdatesyourselfthen:
1. Press[MENU]thenpressthe[UP/DOWN]arrowstoselect“Service”,press[OK].
2. Usethe[UP/DOWN]arrowstoselect“InternetSoftwareUpgrade”,press[OK].
TheDigitalTVRecorderwillnowsearchforanewerupdatetoyourcurentlyinstalledversion.Thenew
versionnumberwillbeshownandyoucanchoosetoupdatetheDigitalTVRecorder.Thenewversionwill
thenbeinstalled,theDigitalTVRecorderwillresetandinformyouthattheupdatewassucessful.
