SCOOTER MOUNT KIT
RAM® is the leading manufacturer of ball mounts in the
world. It provides a wide array of mounts specially adapted
to the motorcycling world. RAM® mounts are used by the
top manufacturers of GPS units for motorcycles.
Twisty Ride’s iPhone case is compatible with a number of
RAM® mount solutions. It is sold bundled with either a
motorcycle or a scooter kit which covers the majority of
models. However, due to the wide variety of motorcycles
and scooters available on the market, it is important to
check whether the standard kits will fit yours or other RAM®
mount solutions need to be used (see “OTHER RAM®
MOUNT SOLUTIONS” section).
MIRROR / PINCHBOLT MOUNT (RAM-B-252)
The RAM-B-252 marine grade aluminium base consists of a
1" diameter ball and 2.25" x 0.875 base with 11mm hole.
This part is often used attached to the mirror frame. This
part fits well on many handlebar pinchbolts with a washer
(base is 5mm thick).

DOUBLE SOCKET ARM (RAM-B-201-A)
The RAM-B-201-A, short double socket arm, has a socket at
both ends that accommodates 1" ball bases. This socket
technology allows for almost infinite adjustment and perfect
viewing angles. It connects to the handlebar mount’s ball.
QUICK RELEASE MALE BASE (RAP-B-326M)
Ezy Mount quick release male base with 1" ball. It connects
on the other end of the arm presented above.

QUICK RELEASE FEMALE BASE (RAP-326F)
A quick release female base, part of the RAM® Ezy-Mount
range. It is mounted to the iPhone case and allows it to be
quickly fixed or un-fixed to the RAM® mount solidary to the
motorbike.

ASSEMBLING THE IPHONE CASE
CAUTION
Extreme care must be taken when mounting the iPhone
case on a motorcycle or scooter. Read this document
carefully before mounting the iPhone case on your
motorcycle or scooter. The iPhone case and its mount shall
be mounted in compliance with the relevant legislation and
the vehicle manufacturer's rules. Failure to mount the
iPhone case or its mount correctly could result in damage to
your vehicle and serious injury to the vehicle rider and other
road users. The iPhone case and its mount are fitted on
your motorcycle or scooter at your own risk. In doubt,
always refer to a qualified professional.
FIXING THE QUICK RELEASE ADAPTOR
The motorcycle and scooter RAM® mount kits come with a
shared component called the “Quick Release Female Base”
pictured below.

www.twistyride.com 12
This component needs to be mounted at the back of the
case as displayed in the picture below.

www.twistyride.com 13
In order to do so, the RAM® base needs to be first inserted
inside the emplacement located at the back of the iPhone
case. This is a tight fit and will require applying pressure
with the hand to click it into place. Once the RAM® base
has been inserted keep it in position with your hand until the
nuts have been tightened (see next step).

www.twistyride.com 14
The next step is to secure the base with two Nyloc nuts and
two bolts. Two lengths are provided with the kit, use the
shortest bolts. Insert the bolts inside the case and through
the base and place the nuts inside their hexagonal lodgings
within the base. Then, using a Phillips style screw driver,
tighten the bolts until the effort required to turn the screw
driver rises sharply.

CHANGING IPHONE MODEL
Two footprints are provided with the case. One fits the
iPhone 3G / 3GS and the other one fits the iPhone 4 & 4S
(see below).

www.twistyride.com 17
Changing iPhone type is as easy as removing one footprint
from the case and fitting the other. In doing so, all plastic
inserts must be ported from one footprint to the other. This
includes the cable plug insert (used to make the case
waterproof when the charger cable is not used) and the
three button inserts (see picture below).

www.twistyride.com 18
ASSEMBLING THE RAM® BRACKET
The scooter bracket comes in three parts which need to be
assembled as pictured below. To do so, unscrew the locking
bolt until both ball heads can be fitted into the bracket. Once
fitted, screw the locking bolt again. This bolt will also allow
you to adjust the position of the mount on the scooter and
lock it into position.
The scooter kit is made to be mounted on the mirror stem.
The mirror needs to be undone at the base of its stem using
the appropriate spanner. The mirror / pinchbolt mount will
then usually be fitted on the threaded portion of the stem
and re-assembled with it. Some mirror stems are not
threaded and are fixed using a conical pressure bolt. If this
is the case, alternative RAM® solutions must be
investigated.

POSITIONING THE IPHONE CASE FOR
OPTIMAL VISIBILITY AND SAFETY
The following checks must be performed once the iPhone
case and its bracket have been mounted on the on the
motorbike or scooter:
- Ensure that the assembly does not restrict the
movement of the handlebar. Swing the handlebar
from side to side and see that the bracket, case
and wires from the charger do not catch onto the
windscreen or any other item present on the bike.
Note that in case you intend to travel with
additional items such as a tank bag, this check
must be performed with said items on the bike to
confirm the bike can still be manoeuvred properly.

www.twistyride.com 20
- Ensure that the assembly does not restrict any
movements the rider may make whilst riding his
motorcycle or scooter. This includes but is not
limited to: movement of the wrists to accelerate
and decelerate movements of the hands / fingers
to operate the clutch or brake, movement of the
body when turning, etc.
- Ensure that the assembly does not prevent a
correct reading of the complete dashboard of the
motorbike and scooter when the rider assumes its
standard driving position.
- Ensure that the iPhone case is angled such that
the screen is perpendicular to the rider’s line of
sight. This is to minimise any reflection from the
screen and provide the best position to read the
screen of the iPhone.
