Thisoperatingmanual shouldbe readthrough carefullybeforeinstalling and
operatingthisACpower distributionpanel.
ThisdistributionpanelprovidesprotectedAC powerdistribution totelecom-
municationequipment. Itprovides upto fourcircuitbreakersonboththeA
andBsides of thepanel. See Figure1.The A andBloads can bein common
(standardversion)or isolatedfromeachother(optionalversion).Totalcapac-
ityforeach A or Bsideis 50 amperes.
TheDPAC1U distributionpanelis only1.75inches (1rackspace)high to
minimizerackspaceandcanbemountedineithera19-or 23-inchrelayrack
withcorresponding brackets.Itcan bemounted fromthe front oftherack
withoffsets every¼-inchfrom frontto backto alignwith existingrack-
mountedequipment.
Thedistribution panelcan beconfigured differentlyforthe Aand Bsides.
TheA andB sidescanhave differentnumbers ofbreakersand different
breakercapacities. Eachbreaker on OptionTcanbe from5 to30 amperes
capacity;eachbreakeronOptionC canbe from5 to15amperes capacity.
Themaximum capacityforeachAor Bside is50 amperes.Thedistribution
panelmust beconfiguredatthefactory.
Therearpanelconnectionshavetwooptions:Positronics connectorinputwith
NEMA5-15R AC outputreceptacles(C Option)orbarrierterminalstrip
connectorsfor bothinputandoutputconnections(TOption).

2.2 Options. There aretwosets ofoptionsavailable:
In the standard dual model (using sections A and B) the two sections are
connected in common (parallel). In an optional model (option I) the A and
B sections are isolated.
There are two options for input and output connections. The T option
provides a terminal strip for both; the C Option provides Positronics
connectors for the input and NEMA 5-15R receptacles for the outputs.

3.1 The front panel consists of the A and B sides with up to four circuit breakers
oneachside.The circuitbreakersare numberedtocorrespondtotheoutput
loadconnectionsorreceptacles.SeeFigure2.Atthebottomofthe center
sectionis aslot forawallet anddesignatorcard. Thiscard permitsthere-
cordingof eachoutputcircuit bynumber.
3.2 InFigure 2,views ofthe tworear panel optionsare shown.The firstone
showsterminal strip connectionsfor bothAC inputsandoutputs ontheA
andBsides (OptionT).Thisoption alsocomes witha clearplasticsafety
coverovertheterminal strips.ThesecondshowsPositronicsconnector
inputsand NEMA 5-15R receptacleoutputs on Aand B sides(Option C).
4.0 SAFETY WARNINGS
4.1 ThisDistribution Paneloperatesatvoltagesthatcouldpotentiallybehazard-
ous.Thisproductshouldbehandled,tested andinstalled onlybyqualified
technical personswhoaretrainedintheuse ofpower systemsandare well
awareofthehazardsinvolved.
4.2 Whenoperating thisDistribution Panel,thechassisground terminalmustbe
connectedtothe systemframeground orotherpropersafetyground forthe
protectionofpersonnel.
4.3 Allconnections totheDistributionPanelshould becarefullycheckedfor
errorsbeforeapplyingpower tothem.
4.4 Thisequipment isintendedonly forinstallation ina “RESTRICTEDACCESS
LOCATION”.
5.0 WARRANTY
All products of UNIPOWER , are warranted for two (2) years from date of shipment against
defects in material and workmanship. This warranty does not extend to products which have
been opened, altered or repaired by persons other than persons authorized by the manufacturer
or to products which become defective due to acts of God, negligence or the failure of customer
to fully follow instructions with respect to installation, application or maintenance. This warranty
is extended directly by the manufacturer to the buyer and is the sole warranty applicable.
EXCEPT FOR THE FOREGOING EXPRESS WARRANTY, THE MANUFACTURER MAKES
NO WARRANTY, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE
WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICU-LAR PURPOSE. As the
sole and exclusive remedy under this warranty, the manufacturer, at its

option, may repair or replace the non-conforming product or issue credit, provided the
manufacturer’s inspection establishes the existence of a defect. To exercise this remedy, the
buyer must contact the manufacturer’s Customer Service Department to obtain a Return Material
Authorization number and shipping instructions. Products returned without prior authorization
will be returned to buyer. All products returned for repair must be shipped freight prepaid to
UNIPOWER. If the buyer fails to fully comply with the foregoing, the buyer agrees that no other
remedy (including, but not limited to, incidental or consequential damages for lost profits, lost
sales, injury to person or property or any other incidental or consequential losses) shall be
available to the buyer.

8.1 General. Figure2showstheback panelconnectionsforbothversionsofthe
DPAC1U, theTand COptions.It should benotedthat these ACDistribution
Panelsare speciallydesigned foruse withUNIPOWER Telecom’sINV2500
andINV2500-HSsinewaveinverters.Theymayalso,however,be usedwith
other115VACinvertersor ACpowersources.
8.2 Inverter Inputs.Bothversions ofthe DPAC1Uhaveprovisions forthe
inputsofup to fourinverters, two oneachA orB side.Eachinverter input
canhave up to25 amperesAC.Ifashelf withtwoinvertersinparallel isused,
twocables mustbe connectedfromthe inverteroutput totheDPAC1U, one
toeach of the Aside or Bside inputs(1 and 2).In this casetheinverterinput
canbeup to 50amperes AC.SeeFigure4(b).
Itshould benotedthatall invertersconnected totheDPAC1U musthave their
outputsin phasewitheachotherbecause theinputsare allparalleled inside
thedistributionpanel.TheonlyexceptiontothisistheversionoftheDPAC1U
whichhasisolated A andBsections (Suffix codeI).In this casetheA andB
sidescan havedifferent phasessincetheyarenot connectedincommon.
However,the twoinvertersonthe Aside mustbe inphasewitheachother
andlikewisethe twoinverterson theBside.
8.3 Terminal Strip Connections. Forthe“T” outputoption there aretwo 10-
terminalbarrierstrips oneachA andBside ofthepanel. Asshownin Figure
2,each A andBside hasconnectionsfor twoinverterinputs (upto25A
each)and fouroutputloads(up to50A totaloutput).For eachinverterinput
andeachoutputloadthereareline,neutral andground connectionterminals.
Eachterminalstrip outputis ratedup to30 amperes.
8.4 NEMA 5-15R and Positronics Connections. Forthe “C”output optionthe
inputconnections areto Positronics connectors,one foreachofthefour
inverterinputs. Theconnector isno. PLA03MI10000withMC112N contacts;
themating connectorisPLA03F0050withFC112N2contacts. SeeFigure 5
fora diagramofthePositronics connectors.EachNEMA5-15Rreceptacle is
ratedup to15amperes output.
8.5 Connecting Cables. Checkwiththefactoryon theavailabilityofcablesfor
makingtheinterconnectionbetweentheInvertersand theDPAC1U.

8.6 Chassis Ground Connection.At thecenter, near thebottom ofeachunit, is
thechassisground terminal. Thisterminal is ano. 8-32 studwith a nut.It
shouldbe connectedtothe system frameground. Theterminalisin common
withthe ACground.
9.0 UNPACKINGAND INSPECTION

ThisACpowerdistributionpanel wascarefullytested,inspectedandpack-
agedforshipment fromourfactory.Upon receiptofthe unitit shouldbe
carefullyunpackedand inspectedfor anydamageinshipment.
Ifthere isevidence ofdamage,donotattempttotesttheunit. Thefreight
carriershouldbenotifiedimmediatelyand aclaim forthe costofthedistribu-
tionpanel shouldbe filedwith thecarrierfor directreimbursement.Besureto
includethemodelandserialnumber ofthedamaged unitin allcorrespon-
dencewiththe freight carrier.Alsosavethe shippingcartonand packing
materialsasevidenceofdamageforthefreightcarrier’sinspection.
UNIPOWERLLCwill cooperatefullyincaseofanyshippingdamage
investigation.
Alwayssavethepackingmaterialsforlateruseinshippingtheunit. Never
shipthedistributionpanel withoutproperpacking.
10.0 INSTALLATION
10.1 Mounting.Thisdistributionpanel canbemounted ineither 19-or 23-inch
racksby usingtheappropriatebrackets. Mountit fromthe frontoftherack
usingthecorrect offsetstoalign withexistingrack-mountedequipment. The
bracketoffsetsare everyquarterinch fromfronttoback.
10.2 Connections. Connections totheACDistributionPanelshould bemade as
describedinSections 8.2through8.6. Wiresorcables of properAWG
coppersize shouldbeusedforthe currentcarried.Makesure thatall con-
nectionsare cleanandfirmtominimizecontactresistance.Makesurethat
thechassisgroundisconnected tothe systemframe ground.
11.0 SETUP AND TESTING
11.1 Itisnotnecessary tohave theAC distributionpanel mountedinarackfor
initialtesting. Thiscan bedone onabench.It isnot necessarytohaveloads

11.2 With theinputinverter orotherAC powersource“off”,connect the input
wirestoinputs 1 or1and 2ofthe A sideofthe distribution panel.Connect
systemframegroundtothe chassisground terminal.Set allcircuit breakers
to“on”.
11.3 Turn onthe inputpowersource.Checkthe ACoutput voltagefrom lineto
neutralat eachsetof outputterminals (loads) withadigitalACvoltmeter. The
voltageshould beapproximately120VAC.
11.4 On the Aside set allciruit breakers to“off”.Check the ACoutputvoltage as
before.Alltheload voltagesshouldbe zero.
11.5 Turnthe inputAC source off.Repeat thesame tests ofSections11.2through
11.4 on theB side oftheAC DistributionPanel.
11.6 Turnthe inputAC source offand disconnectthe input wires.Thedistribution
panelmay nowbeconnectedtoitsintendedapplication.
11.7 If theAC distribution paneldid notoperateproperly inthe abovetests, go
backand doublecheckthe connections.If theproblem cannotbesolved, call
