Dear Customer,
This handbook is suitable for the following models –G002, G004,G014,G114.
The gas stove range available for L.P G as is the very best and incorporates the most up-to-date
knowledge in gas appliance design.
The unique and elegant G114 cooker offers you the opportunity to grill, cook and bake at the same
time and cook and bake on the other models.
Although all burners are tested at our factory, due to possible different atmospheric conditions
existing in various localities, and also possible disturbances during transit they may require slight
adjustments when installed.
If necessary the above mentioned adjustments to the burners should be only carried out by an
experienced and qualified gas fitter.
It is important to use the correct regulator on the gas bottle.

To light the griller burner press control knob in and turn anti-clockwise to high (H).
Light by applying the flame onto the ports situated on either side of the griller burner, starting from the
rear and moving to the front.
The griller control valve is provided with a low position. You can regulate the strength of the flame by
turning the griller control knob to any position between high and low.
CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN THAT IN REGULATING THE GRILLER, THE FLAME DOES NOT GO OUT.
A) When using the top griller for toasting, the best results will be obtained by placing the rack with long
feet to the bottom.
B) When grilling meat turn the rack around with the short feet to the bottom, for best results.
It is advisable when grilling to put about 10mm of water in the grill pan. This will prevent the accumulation
of fat in the bottom of the pan and smoke in the kitchen.
IMPORTANT:
DO NOT turn on the gas and then look for means to light the griller. The accumulation of gas can be the
cause of an explosion.
To light the burners press control knob in and turn anti-clockwise to high (H) then light.
Reset to any position between high and low to obtain the required strength of the flame.
Place your cooking utensil centrally on the burner and do not allow the flame to extend beyond the bottom
of the cooking utensil as this adds no heat to the pot and gas is being wasted.
To simmer turn control knob gently from high position anti-clockwise until low position.
To switch off from low position press knob in and turn clockwise to off position.
IMPORTNT: DO NOT turn on the gas then look for means to light the griller.
The accumulation of gas can be of an explosion.

Open oven door fully –strike match put it in ignition porthole in front of oven base. Press oven control knob
in and turn to No. 8 (high position). The burner will the ignite after a few seconds.
After ignition of the burner close the door gently and turn the control to the temperature required using the
guide printed on the oven door glass, or use the book temperature chart as a guide.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT leave oven control in open position while looking for matches and then light oven as
this can cause an explosion.
As your stove works on liquid petroleum gas the cylinders must installed outside and be protected against
the weather.
When required setting has been reached oven flame will lower its level, thus indicating that oven is now
ready for use. (Only for models G014 & G114).
The thermostat will maintain the heat constant in the oven. (Only for models G014 & G114).
IMPORTANT: Always close oven door with moderate care to avoid extinguishing flame. If the model you
have purchased is not fitted with the thermostat the oven temperature can be controlled with the
thermostat in the door glass. (If fitted)
A spacious well balanced utility and storage drawer is provided.
Frequent use of warm soapy water is the best treatment for all parts of your cooker. Harsh abrasives will
spoil the glossy vitreous enameled surfaces and should definitely not be used. Lift burner tops and brush
parts thoroughly with a stiff brush. Always shake the burners after cleaning to ensure that no moisture
remains inside them as this will affect the burner.
It is strongly recommended that installation of the Univa Gas cooker be carried out by an experienced gas
fitter.
On the bottle gas model flexible rubber or plastic hose can be used but make sure that they are the correct
diameter and not perished or leaking.
Test all connections for leaks by applying thick soapy solution to all joints. Should any leaks occur bubbles
will form around the joints.

DO NOT TEST CONNECTIONS FOR LEAKS WITH A NAKED FLAME.
1. If cooker is not used overnight or for a long period, close main gas supply by closing off the cylinder
supply.
2. Make sure that all control knobs are in the off position when cooker is not in use.
3. If odour of gas is noticeable when control valves are closed please have the cooker attended to by a
competent gas fitter or contact Univa for service.
Each Univa Stoves is supplied with an oven rack.
The rear of the rack is turned upwards at the right angles so that when it is pushed fully in and touches the
back of the oven the cooking utensils resting on it cannot be pushed right to the back, obstructing the flame
of the oven burner causing overheating or burning of the food. The sliding sides of the rack is turned
downwards at the rear.
When pulled out for inspection of the food the rack stops at a certain point and cannot be pulled right out
causing unnecessary accidents. If for any reason you require to take out the rack out simply lift it upwards at
the front and pull.

This warranty is issued by Univa in respect of all products manufactured and sold by Univa. The liability to
Univa is limited to the following conditions:
1. This warranty operates in favour of the original purchaser of new appliances only and cannot be
ceded, assigned or transferred. Univa shall have no liability in respect of second hand goods or to
second or subsequent purchasers of any appliances.
2. This warranty shall operate for a period of one year from the date of original purchase of the
appliance which date shall be proved to the reasonable satisfaction of a Univa authorized service
dealer.
3. The liability of Univa shall be limited to the repair or replacement by a Univa authorized service
dealer in its sole discretion of the defective parts of the appliance at its sole cost. Univa shall not be
liable for any loss or damage suffered by the customer or any other party or caused to the appliance
arising from any cause whatsoever.
4. Should the defective appliance be situated further than 50 km from the nearest Univa service centre
or authorized service dealer, Univa shall be entitled to charge its customer a travelling charge out
rate for such distance in excess of 50 km.
5. The liability of Univa shall be limited in respect of defective parts or material or in respect of
defective workmanship only. Univa authorized service dealer shall have no liability if in its opinion
the defect or faulty was caused through faulty installation, accidental damage, incorrect usage,
misuse or abuse or failure to follow the operating instructions and any acts of God, or force majeure.
Univa shall not be obliged to replace light bulbs, fuses, vitreous enamelware, burners, burner parts,
rings and any other items which Univa in its sole discretion determines that the life of such item
depends on the amount of use and care taken in respect of such item.
6. The warranty shall become void and cease to operate if the appliance is dismantled by or any repairs
to the appliance are affected by any persons not duly authorized by Univa, or if any non-genuine
Univa parts are used in the appliance, or if the serial number of the appliance is removed.
7. The product has been designed and manufactured for normal domestic use and the warranty will
accordingly become void and cease to operate if the product is not used for domestic purposes.
8. If the customer is unable to prove the date of purchase of the appliance to the reasonable
satisfaction of the representative of a Univa authorized service dealer or if no fault or defects are
found in the appliance, a Univa authorized service dealer shall be entitled to charge for the work
done and travelling expenses incurred.
9. All parts replaced shall become the property of Univa.
10. This warranty shall only operate within the territorial area of the Republic of South Africa as
constituted on the 31st May 1961.
