U.S.StovePelletBurningRoomHeatershavebeentestedandlistedforinstallationinresidential,mobilehome
andalcoveinstallations.U.S.StovePelletBurningRoomHeatersareavailableinfreestandingpedestaland
fireplaceinsertversions.

TheperformanceofyourPelletStoveRoomHeatercanbeaffectedbythetypeofpelletfuelyouchoosetoburnin
it.Itisimportanttouseonlypelletfuelthatisdryandfreefromdirtorotherimpurities.ThePelletFuelIndustry
hasestablishedstandardsforwoodpelletmanufacturers.WerecommendthatpelletfuelusedinallU.S.Stove

Itisimportanttonotethattheashcontentofthefuelandfrequencyofoperationwilldeterminethefrequencyof
whichyouwillberequiredtocleanyourPelletStove.Ahighashfuelmayresultindailycleaning,whilealowash
contentfuelmayresultinlessfrequentcleaning.
OccasionallyimpuritiesinthefuelwillcauseahardmassbuildupintheburnpotofyourPelletStove.Impurities
suchassilicacanvirtuallyformlittleglassballswhensubjectedtothehighheatgeneratedintheburnpot.When
allowedtocollect,ahardbassbuildupmayblockairflowthroughtheburnpot,whichwillsignificantlyaffectthe
performanceandefficiencyofyourPelletStove.Itisagoodideatochecktheburnpotforanyhardmassbuildup
orotherblockageonadailybasis,andifnecessarylettheburnpotcoolandthencleantheburnpot.
U.S.StoveCompanyrealizesthatitcannotcontrolthequalityofpelletfuelyouchoosetouseinyourPellet
heater;U.S.Stoveassumesnoresponsibilityforthatchoice.

Besuretoreadtheentireowner’smanualpriortoinstallingandoperatingthisPelletheater.Failuretofollow
theseinstructionscouldresultinfire,propertydamage,bodilyinjuryorevenDeath.
Thisstove’sexhaustsystemworkswithnegativecombustionchamberpressureandaslightpositivechimney
pressure,itisextremelyimportanttoensurethattheexhaustsystembesealedandairtight.Theashpanand
viewingdoormustbesecurelyfastenedinorderfortheunittobeairtight.ThisPelletheaterwillnotoperateusing
naturaldraftorwithoutapowersourcefortheblowers.
Theuseofgratesorothermethodsofsupportingthefuelisnotpermitted.
ThisPelletheaterisdesignedtoburnpelletwoodfuelonly.Donotuseanyothertypeoffuel;doingsowillvoid
anywarrantiesstatedinthismanual.
THEUSEOFSOLIDWOODFUELISPROHIBTEDBYLAW.
ThisPelletheaterisdesignedforresidentialinstallationaccordingtocurrentnationalandlocalbuildingcodes.Itis
alsoapprovedasamobilehomeheaterwhichisdesignedforconnectiontoanoutsidecombustionairsource.
WheninstallingaPelletStoveinamobilehome,itmustbeelectricallygroundedtothesteelchassisofthehome
andboltedtothefloor.Makesurethatstructuralintegrityofthehomeismaintained.
Makesurethatstructuralintegrityofthehomeismaintainedwhenpassingventpipesthroughwalls,ceilingsand
roofs
Itisrecommendedthattheexhaustventbecleanedbi‐annuallyoraftereverytwotonsofpellets.
Sootorcreosotemayaccumulatewhenthepelletheaterisoperatedunderincorrectconditions,suchasan
extremelyrichburn(blacktippedlazyorangeflames).Donotoperatethestoveiftheflamebecomesdarkorsooty
oriftheburnpotoverfillswithpellets.Turnthestoveoffandcallyourdealer.
Thegroundedelectricalcordmustbeconnectedtoastandard120volt,60hertzelectricaloutlet.Ensurethatthe
electricalcordisnottrappedundertheapplianceandthatitisclearofanyhotsurfacesorsharpedges.
Theashpanandviewingdoormustbelockedsecurelyforproperandsafeoperation.
DONOTPLACEUNBURNEDORNEWPELLETFUELINTHEASHPAN.Afireintheashpanmayoccur.
Donotoperateyourpelletheaterifyousmellsmokecomingfromit.Turnitoff,monitoritandcallyourdealer.
RepairandservicingofyourU.S.StovePelletBurningRoomHeatermayonlybedonebyaqualifiedtechnician.
Disconnectthepowercordbeforeperforminganymaintenanceorrepair.
NOTE:TurningthePelletStoveRoomHeaterto"off"doesnotdisconnectpowerfromtheunit.
ThePelletStoveRoomHeaterwillnotoperateduringapoweroutage,ifapoweroutageortrippedcircuitoccurs,
checkforsmokespillageandopenwindowsordoorstoventilateasnecessary.

Adequateventilationairisrequiredtooperatethisheater.Duringoperationtheheaterdrawsairforcombustion
whichcanbeassistedbytheinstallationofoutsidecombustionairinlets.However,certainweatherconditions
suchasicingoruseofkitchenexhaustfansmayimpactandreducetheeffectivenessofvents.Itisimportantto
notethatroomairstarvationwellnegativelyimpacttheoperationoftheheater.
Ifpoweroutageswithbatterybackuporroomairstarvationoccursduringoperationofheater,smokeinthe
housemayresult.Thismaytriggersmokedetectorsiftheyareinstalled.

CheckandFilltheFuelHopperwithPellets:
ThisPelletStoveisavailableasafreestandingunitorasafireplaceinsert.Thereisadifferentmethodforfilling
thehopperforeachtypeofheater:
Tocheckandfillthehopperofthefreestandingheater,simplyliftthehopperdoor,visuallycheckthehopper
andaddpelletswhenneeded.
Tocheckandfillthehopperoftheinsertheater,pullhopperlidforward,visuallycheckthehopperandadd
pelletswhenneeded.
CAUTION:DONOTOVERFILLTHEPELLETFUELHOPPER.ASASAFETYPRECAUTION,AUGERWILLNOT
OPERATEATANYTIMEWHENFUELHOPPERDOORISOPEN.
Pre‐startCheck‐up:
MakesurethatallpartsofthePelletStoveRoomHeaterarecoolbeforeproceeding.Removetheburnpotand
cleanoutanyashdebris.Besuretore‐installtheburnpotinthecorrectposition(seepage29).
Theblowersandautomaticfuelsupplyarecontrolledfromapanellocatedontherighthandsideofthestove.
Note:YourPelletStovemayomitanodorasoilresiduefromthemanufacturingprocessburnsoffandthehigh
temperaturepaintcures.Youcanminimizethiseffectbyrunningasmallerfireforthefirstfewhoursof
operation.Avoidplacinganyitemsonthestovetopduringthisperiodasthestove’spaintcouldbe
permanentlydamaged.
LightingInstructions:
ATTENTION:Viewingdoormustbesecurelylatchedtoensureproperstoveoperation.Pushdoor‐handle
downwarduntillatchisfullyengaged;youwillfeelthelatchengageandhearanaudibleclick.
WhenfirstoperatingyourPelletStove,depresstheMODEbuttonuntiltheLEDindicatoraboveMANUALlightsup.
ThiswillengageMANUALmodeandprovideyouwithfullcontroloftheheater’scontrolboardfunctionsandallow
youtofamiliarizeyourselfwithhowtheheaterworks.TheheatlevelforT‐STATmodecanonlybesetwhenthe
controlisintheManualMode.
StartingUpThePelletStoveRoomHeater:
WheneverOperatingthePelletStoveforFirstTime,orifTheStoveRunsOutOfPellets,itisNecessarytoPrime
theAugerwithPelletFuel.Todothis,PressandHoldtheAUGERButtonforApproximately3Secondsuntilthe
AUGERLEDilluminates.ThisProcedurewillprimetheAugerandthenAutomaticallyInitiatetheNormalIgnition
Cycle.
CAUTION:Donotusethisprocedurefornormalstartup.Todosowouldcauseexcessivefuelbuild‐upinthe
burnpot.
Fornormalstartupwithpelletsfuelintheauger,pressandreleasetheOn/Offbutton.TheLEDindicatorlight
abovetheOn/Offbuttonwillalternatelyflashgreenthenredtoindicatethatthestart‐upcyclehasbegun.The
lightabovetheAugerbuttonwillflashintermittentlytoindicatetheactivationoftheaugerfeedingthepelletsinto
theburnpot.Theelectricigniterwillalsobeactivatedatthistime.Theignitertakesafewminutestocomeupto
temperatureinordertoignitethepelletsintheburnpot.Itwillnormallytakebetween4minutesand8minutes
forpelletstoignite.
NOTE:Ifpelletsdonotignitewithin12minutestheheaterwillshutdown,requiringyoutoturnontheheater
andrepeatthestart‐upprocess.

Whenthepelletshaveignitedandflamehasbeenestablished,thestart‐upcyclewillend;thisproceduretakes
between8and12minutes.IfthecontrolissettoManualMode,itwillnowdefaulttotheheatlevelsettingthe
lastshutdowntime.IfthecontrolissettoT‐STATModetheheatoutputwillcoincidetothecommandsfromthe
thermostat.
Auger:
Asexplainedinthestartingupstep,thisbuttonisonlyservedtostartupthepelletstoveinlieuoftheon/off
buttonwhentherearenopelletsintheauger.
CirculationAirFlow:
YourPelletStoveRoomHeaterfeaturescirculationairflowwhichwillchangeinaccordancewiththeheatsetting.
Circulationairflowwillbeatitsmaximumsettingwhentheheatsettingisalsoatmaximumandsubsequentlywill
beatitsminimumsettingwhentheheatsettingisatminimum.Ifyoudesiretooperatethecirculationfanatits
maximumsettingregardlessofheatsetting,youmaydosobypressingtheFANbutton.
AugerTrim:
WhenoperatingatHeatLevel1,iftheflamegoesoutortheheatoutputistoohighontheminimumheatlevel
setting,usetheAUGERTRIMbuttontomakeadjustments.SeetheAUGERTRIMbuttondescriptiononpage11.
ShuttingDownYourPelletStoveRoomHeater:
TurnofftheheaterbypressingtheOn/Offbutton.Thestovewillentertheshutdowncycleandthepelletswill
stopfeedingintotheburnpottoallowthefuelintheburnpottobecombustedandconsumed.Duringthis
period,theexhaustblowerandcirculationfanwillcontinuetooperateuntiltheflamesareoutandtheheaterhas
cooleddown.Whentheheaterhascooleddowntoitspre‐setlevel,itwillshutdowncompletely.
CAUTION:NEVERTURNOFFTHEHEATERBYUNPLUGGINGORDISCONNECTINGITSELECTRICALPOWER

ManualandT‐STATmodes.AsyoudepresstheMODEbuttontheindicator
lightabovethedesiredmodewillengage.WhenyouengagetheManualmode,
youwillbeabletomanuallyselecttheheatsettings.Ifyouhaveinstalleda
remotethermostatforyourPelletStoveRoomHeaterandwishtohavethe
heatercontrolledbythatthermostat,depresstheMODEbuttontoengageT‐
STATmode.ThethermostatwillcontroltheheatoutputoftheHeater
alternatingbetweenthelowestheatlevelandthehighestheatlevelthatyou
havepre‐selected.
TheT‐STATmodeprovidesthemostevenheatoutput,forbettercomfort,and
toextendthelifeofthepelletfuelignitionsystem.Additionally,theconstant
flameservesasawarningforpeopleandpetstokeepawayfromtheheater
whileitisinoperation.
ON/OFFButton:TheON/OFFbuttonisusedtoturntheheateronandoff.
Wheneverthereispowertotheheater,theLEDindicatorlightabovethe
ON/OFFbuttonwillbesolidred.Iftheheateriscoldpriortostart‐up,press
andreleasetheON/OFFbutton.TheLEDlightabovetheON/OFFbuttonwill
alternatelyflashredandgreentoindicatethestartupcyclehasstarted.Fuel
pelletswillstarttofeedintotheburnpotandthepelletfuelignitionsystemwill
beactivated.Flamesintheburnpotwillnormallyappearbetween4‐8
minutes,andoncetheflamehasbeenestablished,thestartupcyclewillend,thistakesbetween8‐12minutes.At
thispointtheLEDindicatorlightabovetheON/OFFbuttonwillglowsolidgreen.Theuserwillnowbeableto
makeheatleveladjustments.
HEATLEVELButton:DepresstheHEATLEVELbuttontoadvancetheheatlevelbyoneleveluntilyoureachthe
maximumsetting;fromthemaximumlevelyouwilldecreaseoneleveleachtimeyoudepresstheHEATLEVEL
button.Thecirculationfanspeedwillalsoincreasewiththeheatlevelsetting.Waituntilthestartupcycleis
completeandtheON/OFFLEDissolidgreentosetHeatLevel.(TheHEATLEVELLEDsarealsousedascodesto
indicateamalfunction,pleaserefertotheSafetyFeaturesandwarningcodessectionformoreinformation.)
FANButton:DepressingtheFANbuttonwillsetthecirculationfanspeedtohigh,overridingtheautomaticfan
speedcontrol.Theonboardlogicwillmodulatethefanspeedinaccordancewiththeheatlevelsetting.Itis
recommendedthatyouallowthecontroltoautomaticallysetandadjustthespeedofthefantoobtainoptimum
efficiencyandminimalfannoise.
AUGERButton:WheneverOperatingthePelletStoveforFirstTime,orifTheStoveRunsOutOfPellets,itis
NecessarytoPrimetheAugerwithPelletFuel.Todothis,PressandHoldtheAUGERButtonforApproximately3
SecondsuntiltheAUGERLEDilluminates.ThisProcedurewillprimetheAugerandthenAutomaticallyInitiatethe
NormalIgnitionCycle.NOTICE:Donotusethisprocedurefornormalstartup.Todosowouldcauseexcessive
fuelbuild‐upintheburnpot.
AUGERTRIMButton:ThisButtonisonlyenabledwhenoperatingatHeatLevel1.DepresstheAUGERTRIM
ButtontochangetheAugerfeedrateontheminimumheatlevel;toaccountforthequalityofpelletfuelbeing

increasethefeedrateontheminimumheatlevel.
DepressandreleasetheAUGERTRIMbuttonuntiltheheatlevel1and4settinglightsappeartoslightly
reducethepelletfeedrateontheminimumheatlevelsetting.Usethissettingtoreducetheheatlevel
outputonlow.
DepressandreleasetheAUGERTRIMbuttonuntilonlytheheatlevel1settinglightison,thisisthefactory
settingandworksformosttypesoffuel.
OpenDoor:Duringnormaloperationtheheaterwillautomaticallyshutoffiftheviewingdoorisopenedfor
morethan30seconds.Thisactioncausestheheatertogointovacuumerrormode.Toclearthiserrorandrestart
theheater,closethedoor,depresstheON/OFFbuttonandthenfollowdirectionsforrestartingheater.
RefillingtheFuelHopper:Formaximumperformancedonotletthepelletfuelhopperdropbelow1/4full.
FuelHopperLidSafetySwitch:WhentheFuelHopperLidisopenedtheaugerwillstopturningtoprevent
accidentalinjury.
KEEPPELLETFUELHOPPERLIDCLOSEDATALLTIMESEXCEPTWHENREFILLING.DONOTOVERFILLHOPPER.
SafetyFeaturesandwarningcode:
1. Yourheaterisequippedwithatemperature“high‐limit”switch,designedtoshutdowntheaugerincaseof
anovertemperaturesituation.Thehigh‐limitswitchisathermosnapdisctypeandmustbemanuallyreset
intheeventofanoverheatshutdown.Oncetheheaterhascooleddown,youcanreactivatethehigh‐limit
switchbydepressingthemanualresetbuttonlocatedonthehigh‐limitswitch.
2. WhentheHigh‐Limitswitchopens,whichindicatesanoverheatfailure,theHEATLEVELLED’s3&4willflash
red.
3. Yourheaterisequippedwithavacuumswitchthatautomaticallyshutsdowntheaugerintheeventofa
exhaustfanmalfunction.
4. WhenaVacuumErrorissensed,theHEATLEVELLED’s1&2willflashred.Checktoensuretheglassdooris
latchedproperly.
5. WhentheLow‐Limitswitchopens,(firewentout)theHEATLEVELLED’s4&5willflashred.Firstcheckfuel
supply,thenchecktoensureAugerisnotjammedandfinallythatpellethopperdoorisproperlyclosed.
6. WhenthePelletsintheBurnPotfailtoigniteHEATLEVELLED’s1&5willflashred.
NOTE:Intheeventthatthehigh‐limitswitchorvacuumswitchactivates,pleasecontactyourdealertodiscuss
thecauseofthisactivationandtoensurethatyourheatercontinuestooperateinasafemanner.Eitherswitch
trippingcanindicateaproblemwiththeoperationofyourheater.

THERMOSTATINSTALLATION
Optionalthermostatsareavailableforusewithyourpelletstove.Athermostatcanhelpyoumaintainaconstant
roomtemperature.Thethermostatoptionwillrequiretheinstallationofamillivolttypethermostat.
NOTE:Yourthermostatshouldbeinstalledbyanauthorizeddealerorserviceperson.
InstallationofRemoteThermostat:
DisconnectPelletStoveRoomHeaterunitfrompowersupply.
Openrightsidepaneltogainaccesstorearofcontrolpanel.
Stripinsulationfromthermostatwiresandconnecttothescrewterminalontherearofthecontrolpanel(see
Figure4).
Ifyouhaveinstalledaremotethermostatforyourpelletstoveandwishtohavetheheatercontrolledbythat
thermostat,depresstheMODEbuttontoengageT‐STATmode.Thethermostatwillcontroltheheatoutputofthe
heateralternatingbetweenthelowestheatlevelandthehighestheatlevelthatyouhavepre‐selected.
TheT‐STATmodeprovidesthemostevenheatoutput,forbettercomfort,andtoextendthelifeofthepelletfuel

nowyournextstepistodeterminewheretoinstallyournewpelletstoveheater.Togetthemost
efficientuseofre‐circulatedheat,youshouldconsideraroomthatiscentrallylocatedwithinyourhome.
Choosearoomthatislargeandopen.
ItisExtremelyImportanttomaintainproperclearancesfromanycombustiblesurfacesormaterialsin
theroomwhereyourheaterwillbelocated.Youcanfindproperclearancemeasurementsonpage13of
thismanualandontheratinglabelofyourpelletstove.
Thepelletstovecanbeventedthroughanexteriorwallorintoanexistingmasonryormetalchimney.
Thechimneymustbelinedifitisover6”(150mm)indiameterorifithasacross‐sectionalareaofover
28squareinches(711mm2).Ventingcanpassthroughtheceilingandroofifapprovedpipeisused.

1. Locateyourpelletstoveinalocationwhichmeetstherequirementsofthismanual,butinanarea
whereitdoesnotinterferewiththehouseframing,wiring,etc.
2. Installanon‐combustiblehearthpadunderneaththepelletstove.Thispadshouldextendatleast6”
(152mm)infrontoftheunit.
3. Placethepelletstoveapproximately15”(381mm)awayfromtheinteriorwall.
4. Locatethecenteroftheexhaustpipeofyourunit.Thispointshouldthenbeextendedtotheinterior
wallofyourhouse.Onceyouhavelocatedthecenterpoint,ontheinteriorwall,cuta7”(175mm)
diameterholethroughthewall.
5. Thenextstepistoinstallthewallthimble,refertotheinstructionswhichcomewiththewallthimble
forthisstep.
6. Installtheappropriatelengthofexhaustventpipeintothewallthimble.Seestep11when
determiningthecorrectlengthofexhaustventtouse.
7. OutsideFreshAirisMandatorywheninstallingthispelletstoveroomheaterinairtighthomesand
mobilehomes.Besurethattheoutsideairventhasanapprovedcaponittopreventrodentsfrom
entering.Besuretoinstallinlocationthatwon’tbecomeblockedwithsnow,etc.
8. Theairintakepipeisequippedwithabutterflyvalvethatispresettomaximumairintake.For
optimumoperatingefficiencyyoumaycalibratethebutterflyvalvetoprovidelessintakeair.(See
Figure7)Caution:Toomuchrestrictionontheintakeairwillcausedirtierburn,therefore,will
requiremorefrequentcleaning.
9. Connecttheexhaustventpipetotheexhaustoutletofyourpelletstove.
10. Secureallventjointconnectionswith3screws.Sealtheexhaustventjointconnectionswithhigh
temperaturesiliconesealant.
11. Pushtheunitstraightbacktotheinteriorwall,beingsuretomaintaintheminimumclearancesto
combustibles6”(152mm)tothebackoftheunit.Sealtheannularspaceofthewallthimbleand
aroundtheventpipewithhightemperaturesiliconesealant.
12. Theexhaustventpipemustextendatleast12”(300mm)outpasttheexteriorwall.Sealtheannular
spaceofthewallthimbleandaroundtheventpipewithhightemperaturesiliconesealant.
13. Installanapprovedhorizontalterminationcaporifnecessaryinstalla90°elbowandappropriate
lengthofverticalventing.Anapprovedverticalventcapisrecommended.
