5 Appliance functions
5.2 Description of functions
MonoFridge
In the MonoFridge mode, the freezer compartment is operated as a second refrigerator
compartment with a setting range of 2–14°C.
Prior to activating the MonoFridge, relocate food and food items that by changing the op-
erating mode can be spoiled through freezing or defrosting. It takes several hours to
reach the newly set temperature. Leave the door of the second refrigerator compartment
closed during this time. For the second refrigerator compartment, the fast freezing func-
tion changes to fast cooling.
At a setting temperature of 2 °C, the conditions for a cold storage compartment are sat-
isfied. Suitable foods can be stored in it for up to three times longer than in a standard
refrigerator compartment.
Since food spoils quicker through the transmission of germs, animal and vegetable
foodstuffs should be stored separately from each other. If such foodstuffs have to
be stored together in a drawer for reasons of space, it is recommended they be
stored covered or packaged.
At a setting temperature of between 10°C and 14°C, beverages can be chilled at
a pleasant drinking temperature. The temperatures are also ideal for storing trop-
ical fruits (e.g. pineapples, mangoes), potatoes and fruit vegetables (e.g. cucum-
bers, aubergines, tomatoes, courgettes, sweet peppers).
SilentPlus
This operating mode is designed to produce low noise emissions. The energy consump-
tion of the appliance may be slightly increased. Since the appliance is quiet during nor-
mal operation, the effect of SilentPlus is particularly perceptible at higher ambient tem-
peratures. In addition, the appliance reacts to the door being frequently opened or warm
food being loaded in a particularly noise-optimized way in the SilentPlus mode compared
to normal operation. SilentPlus is temporarily interrupted while PartyCooling and fast
cooling/freezing are running. The setting range of the temperature zones is limited
through SilentPlus.
PartyCooling
PartyCooling temporarily provides generally increased cooling capacity whereby the tem-
perature of the unfrozen compartment is lowered to the coldest value. This also applies
to the second refrigerator compartment when in the MonoFridge mode. The appliance
can thus react better to the effect of opening the door frequently and loading warm food.
This increases the noise emissions and energy consumption of the appliance. PartyCool-
ing can be set to run 12, 24 or 48 hours. SilentPlus is interrupted for the duration for ap-
plication-related reasons.
Fast cooling/freezing
The fast cooling/freezing functions allow larger quantities of food, e.g. after a shopping
trip or freezing pre-cooked meals, to be cooled more quickly. The temperature of the un-
frozen compartment is lowered to the coldest value for 24 hours and similarly the tem-
perature of the freezer compartment is lowered to the coldest value for 54 hours. The
ColdFresh temperature zone continues to operate at the selected set temperature. The
SilentPlus function is interrupted for the duration for application-related reasons.

5 Appliance functions
During fast cooling/freezing, the appliance operates at higher power, which increases the
noise level above the normal operating noise level. Both functions switch off automatic-
ally. The fast freezing function is turned off when the MonoFridge mode is activated and
can be reactivated as fast cooling in the second refrigerator compartment for 24 hours.
To prevent food that is already being stored from warming up: activate fast cooling/freez-
ing several hours beforehand (e.g. before going shopping).
To achieve maximum freezing capacity, the following must be observed: To freeze the
maximum quantity (see the identification plate), use the bottom freezer compartment
drawer and activate fast freezing at least 24hours before storing the fresh food (pre-
freezing). Transfer already frozen food to the upper freezer compartment drawers. Distrib-
ute the food to be frozen evenly in the bottom freezer compartment drawer. Do not place
any more food for freezing in the freezer compartment for the next 24 hours during the
freezing process.
When a smaller quantity of food is to be frozen, the pre-freezing time may be
shortened.
Fast freezing does not need to be activated if storing food that is already frozen or
freezing up to about 1kg of fresh food a day.
Holiday function
With the holiday function, only the freezer compartment is operated at the selected set
temperature. For hygiene reasons, the refrigerator compartment operates at a temperat-
ure of about 14°C. Close the refrigerator compartment door.
The holiday function is not intended to be used for the purpose of storing food in the un-
frozen compartment or the ColdFresh temperature zone.
Sabbath mode
When the Sabbath mode is activated, all visual and acoustic warnings as well as operat-
ing and display elements are turned off for the selected duration (30, 54 or 78 hours).
Opening the appliance door will not affect the illumination or the behaviour of the appli-
ance. The illumination in the refrigerator compartment can be automatically activated if
the ambient temperature is low. Any timer running when the Sabbath mode is activ-
ated is ended, no acoustic signal is emitted.
The appliance doors must be closed firmly as the visual and acoustic warnings are
turned off!
When the Sabbath mode is activated, no error messages are displayed and no
warnings are given. In certain circumstances, the appliance switches to the emer-
gency mode or cannot maintain the refrigerating temperatures for other reasons.
Check the quality of the food. Do not eat food that has thawed!
Risk of food poisoning.
