1 Safety
1.1 Intended use
There is a risk of injury or death to the user or
others, or of damage to the product and other
property in the event of improper use or use
for which it is not intended.
The product is designed for use as a heat
generator for hot water generation.
The direct electric domestic hot water cyl-
inder is designed to heat up potable water
in accordance with the applicable quality
standards. If the quality of the potable wa-
ter is poor, there is a risk of corrosion in the
product.
The product is approved exclusively for ver-
tical installation on the wall.
The product is under pressure; the product
must only be operated when a safety as-
sembly is installed.
Intended use includes the following:
–observance of accompanying operating,
installation and servicing instructions for
the product and any other system compon-
ents
–installing and fitting the product in accord-
ance with the product and system approval
–compliance with all inspection and main-
tenance conditions listed in the instruc-
tions.
Intended use also covers installation in ac-
cordance with the IP class.
The use of the product in vehicles, such as
mobile homes and caravans, is not classed
as intended use. Units that are not classed
as vehicles are those that are installed in
a fixed and permanent location (known as
"fixed installation").
Any other use that is not specified in these
instructions, or use beyond that specified in
this document shall be considered improper
use. Any direct commercial or industrial use
is also deemed to be improper.
Caution.
Improper use of any kind is prohibited.
1.2 General safety information
1.2.1 Risk caused by inadequate
qualifications
The following work must only be carried out
by competent persons who are sufficiently
qualified to do so:
–Set-up
–Dismantling
–Installation
–Start-up
–Inspection and maintenance
–Repair
–Decommissioning
▶Observe all instructions that are included
with the product.
▶Proceed in accordance with the current
technology.
▶Observe all applicable directives, stand-
ards, laws and other regulations.
1.2.2 Risk of death due to lack of safety
devices
The schematic drawings included in this doc-
ument do not show all safety devices re-
quired for correct installation.
▶Install the necessary safety devices in the
system.
▶Observe the applicable national and inter-
national laws, standards and guidelines.
1.2.3 Risk of death from electric shock
There is a risk of death from electric shock if
you touch live components.
Before commencing work on the product:
▶Unplug the mains plug.
▶Or disconnect the product from the power
supply by switching off all power supplies
(electrical partition with a contact opening
of at least 3 mm, e.g. fuse or line protec-
tion switch).
▶Secure against being switched back on
again.
▶Wait for at least 3 minutes until the con-
densers have discharged.

1.2.4 Material damage due to unsuitable
installation surface
The installation surface must be even and
have sufficient load-bearing capacity to sup-
port the operating weight of the product. An
uneven installation surface may cause leaks
in the product.
There is a risk of death if the connections are
subject to leaks.
▶Make sure that the product is positioned
flush against the installation surface.
▶Ensure that the installation surface has
sufficient load-bearing capacity to bear the
operating weight of the product.
1.2.5 Risk of being burned or scalded by
hot components
▶Only carry out work on these components
once they have cooled down.
1.2.6 Risk of scalding and material
damage due to escaping hot or cold
water
▶If you use plastic pipes for the hot or cold
water connection of the product, you must
only use pipes that are temperature-res-
istant up to 95 °C under a pressure of 1.0
MPa (10 bar).
1.2.7 Risk of material damage caused by
using an unsuitable tool
▶Use the correct tool to tighten or loosen
screw connections.
1.2.8 Risk of material damage caused by
frost
▶Do not install the product in rooms prone
to frost.
1.2.9 Risk of material damage due to high
water pressure.
Excessive water pressure may lead to dam-
age to the water pipes.
1.2.10 Material damage due to leaks
▶Ensure that there is no mechanical tension
on the supply lines.
▶Do not suspend any loads from the
pipelines (e.g. clothing).
▶If there are leaks in the water pipe
between the product and draw-off points,
close the cold water stop valve immedi-
ately.
▶Have the leak repaired by a competent
person.

▶Observe the national regulations, stand-
ards, guidelines and laws.

4.3 Wall-mounting the product
1. Drill the holes in the wall for the rawl plugs.

2. Use the appropriate fixing material to secure the
product to the wall as shown in the illustration.
Conditions: The load-bearing capacity of the wall is sufficient, The fixing
material may be used for the wall
▶Wall-mount the product as described.
Conditions: The load-bearing capacity of the wall is not sufficient
▶Ensure that wall-mounting apparatus on-site has a suf-
ficient load-bearing capacity. Use individual stands or
primary walling, for example.
▶Do not wall-mount the product if you cannot provide
wall-mounting apparatus with a sufficient load-bearing
capacity.
5 Installation
Danger!
Risk of scalding and/or risk of material
damage due to incorrect installation lead-
ing to escaping water.
Stresses in supply lines can cause leaks.
▶Install the supply lines without tension.
5.1 Requirements
1. Ensure that the product is installed in such a way that it
can be easily accessed during maintenance work.
2. You must install a safety assembly at the cold water
inlet.
◁When dimensioning the drain hose for the safety
assembly, note the technical data for the safety as-
sembly.
◁Install the drain hose for the expansion relief valve
in a frost-proof room while taking into consideration
the minimum downward gradient in order to guaran-
tee that the water drains without any problems.
◁At regular intervals, ensure that the drain in the
drain hose for the safety assembly is not obstructed.
With standard operation of the product, it is normal
that water flows out of the drain hose on the expan-
sion relief valve.

◁Regularly actuate the safety assembly in order to
prevent a blockage caused by scale depositions.
3. You must install a pressure valve assembly.
4. Attach heat insulation to the pipelines if they are at risk
of being exposed to frost.
5.2 Installing the safety group
▶Install a safety group on the product's cold water inlet.

1. Check the water pressure.
◁The water pressure is, at most, as great as the max.
permissible pressure.
–Water pressure: ≤0.5 MPa (≤5.0 bar)
▽If the water pressure is greater than the max. per-
missible pressure, install a domestic pressure regu-
lator.
◁The water flow rate is, at most, as great as the per-
missible pressure.
– ≤ 10 l/min
2. Connect the product to the fitting.
5.4 Filling the product
1. Open the cold water stop cock.
2. Fill the domestic hot water cylinder.
◁Always fill the direct electric domestic hot water cyl-
inder with water before you switch it on. The cylinder
is full when water escapes as you open the hot wa-
ter tap.
3. Keep the fitting's outlet clear.
5.5 Electrical installation
Danger!
Risk of death from electric shock!
Touching live connections may cause serious
personal injury.
▶Disconnect the product from the power
supply by interrupting all power supply
sources.
▶Ensure that the product is disconnected
from the power supply.
▶Secure all of the supply lines and con-
nections in order to prevent the product
from being accidentally reconnected to
the power supply.
Danger!
Risk of material damage.
If you do not follow the installation steps, this
may result in damage to the product.
▶Do not connect the product to the power
mains until the direct electric domestic hot
water cylinder is filled with water.
1. Before the electrical installation, check whether local
mains voltage matches the specifications on the pro-
duct's identification plate.

2. Plug the mains plug into an earthed socket outlet.
◁The plug socket must be freely accessible at all
times.

Warning.
Risk of being scalded by hot water
There is a risk of scalding at the hot water
draw-off points if the temperatures are
greater than 60 °C. Young children and
elderly persons are particularly at risk, even
at lower temperatures.
▶Select the hot water temperature so that
nobody is at risk.
1. Select a moderate set target temperature.
◁You can set the target temperature to either 40 °C,
60 °C or 80 °C.
2. Remove the temperature selection knob (1).
3. Remove the adjusting ring (2) for the temperature se-
lection knob.
Conditions: Limiting the temperature to 40 °C
▶Slide the recess (5) for the setting ring onto the nose of
the temperature selection knob.
Conditions: Limiting the temperature to 60 °C
▶Slide the recess (6) for the setting ring onto the lug of
the temperature selection knob.
Conditions: Limiting the temperature to 80 °C (factory setting)
▶Slide the recess (4) for the setting ring onto the nose of
the temperature selection knob.
4. Fit the temperature selector knob with the setting ring
onto the adjusting spindle (3).
6.2 Switching on
1. Ensure that the direct electric domestic hot water cylin-
der has been filled.
2. Insert the mains plug into the wall socket.
3. Set the temperature selector knob to (E).
◁The indicator light lights up. It goes out as soon as
the set target temperature is reached.
6.3 Handing the product over to the operator
Explain to the operator how the safety devices work and
where they are located.
Inform the operator how to handle the product. Answer any
questions the operator may have. In particular, draw atten-
tion to the safety information which the operator must follow.
Inform the operator of the necessity to have the product
maintained according to the specified intervals.
Pass all of the instructions and documentation for the
product to the operator for safe-keeping.
7 Troubleshooting
7.1 Contacting your service partner
If you contact your service partner, you should, where pos-
sible, specify the type of fault that has occurred.
7.2 Procuring spare parts
The original components of the product were also certified
by the manufacturer as part of the declaration of conformity.
If you use other, non-certified or unauthorised parts during
maintenance or repair work, this may void the conformity of
the product and it will therefore no longer comply with the
applicable standards.
We strongly recommend that you use original spare parts
from the manufacturer as this guarantees fault-free and safe
operation of the product. To receive information about the
available original spare parts, contact the contact address
provided on the reverse of these instructions.

▶If you require spare parts for maintenance or repair
work, use only the spare parts that are permitted for the
product.
8 Inspection and maintenance
8.1 Observing inspection and maintenance
intervals
Proper regular inspections (once a year) and maintenance
(depending on the result of the inspection, but at least once
every two years) combined with the exclusive use of genuine
spare parts are decisive factors in ensuring smooth opera-
tion and long working life for the product.
We recommend taking out an inspection or maintenance
contract.
Inspection
The inspection is intended to determine the actual condition
of a product and compare it with the target condition. This is
done by measuring, checking and observing.
Maintenance
Maintenance is required in order to eliminate any deviations
of the actual condition from the target condition. This is nor-
mally done by cleaning, setting and, if necessary, replacing
individual components that are subject to wear.
8.2 Replacing the power supply cable
Note
To avoid danger, if the power supply cable is
damaged, it must be replaced by the manufac-
turer, their responsible customer service depart-
ment or suitably qualified persons.
▶Replace it in accordance with the recommendations for
the power supply connection.
8.3 Removing/installing the product casing

1. Undo the screw (A) between the hydraulic connections.
2. Remove the temperature selector knob (B).
3. Remove the front casing (C).
4. When fitting the casing, carry out the steps described
above in reverse.
8.4 Descaling the direct electric domestic hot
water cylinder and electrical immersion
heater
1. Check whether the inner vessel in the direct electric
domestic hot water cylinder has any depositions.
◁Clean the vessel mechanically if it contains depos-
itions.
2. Remove the electrical immersion heater.
3. Check the condition of the electrical immersion heater.
◁If required, dip the electrical immersion heater as
far as the flange into a descaling agent in order to
descale it.
8.5 Resetting the safety cut-out
1. Disconnect the product from the power mains.
2. Remove the product casing. (→Page 9)

3. Press the button (1).
◁The product can now be restarted.

8.6 Checking the magnesium protection anode
1. Check the magnesium protection anode eight years
after you install your product.
2. Disconnect the product from the power mains.
3. Drain the product.
4. Remove the product casing. (→Page 9)
5. Remove the electric radiators.
6. Remove the magnesium protection anode.
7. Check the condition of the magnesium protection an-
ode.
The magnesium protection anode is in a good condition
▶Reinstall the product's components in the reverse
order.
▶Plan a new check of the magnesium protection an-
ode.
8. Check the condition of the magnesium protection an-
ode.
The magnesium protection anode is in a poor condition
▶Replace the magnesium protection anode.
8.6.1 Replacing the magnesium protection anode
1. Check the degree of wear on the magnesium protection
anode.
2. Replace the used magnesium protection anode with a
new magnesium protection anode.
3. Secure the new magnesium protection anode and,
when doing so, follow the installations sequence for the
fasteners.
◁The metal vessel must always be earthed.

8.7 Replacing the control and/or safety cut-out
1. Disconnect the product from the power mains and make
sure that it cannot be switched back on again.
2. Remove the product casing.
3. Check the condition of the temperature control.
◁Replace the temperature control when it is out of
operation.
4. Check the condition of the temperature cut-out.
◁Replace the temperature cut-out when it is out of
operation.
5. Install the product casing.
6. Connect the product to the power supply.

9.1 Decommissioning the product
▶Disconnect the product from the power mains.
▶Close the cold water stop valve.
▶Close the domestic hot water stopcock.
▶Remove the water connections.
▶Drain the product.
