1. Power Socket –plug a standard, 2.1mm centre
negative 9v power jack in here. Current draw is less
than 100mA. Anything that will power a Boss pedal
will work here. Do not use a power supply over 9v, or
a centre positive power supply. Use an isolated
power supply to preserve tonal purity.
2. Input –plug your guitar or previous effect pedal in
here.

3. Effects Loop Send –if using effects in the Holy Era’s
effects loop, plug the input of the first pedal in the
loop here.
4. Tap Tempo Footswitch –override the Time control
by tapping the desired tempo with this soft touch
footswitch.
5. Tempo LED –this will blink to display the current
delay time rate, set by either tapping the Tap Tempo
Footswitch or by using the Time control.
6. Modulation –turn this control clockwise to introduce
a tape-like modulation effect to the repeats. Goes
from no modulation at 0 to wobbly madness at 11.
7. Tap Ratio –this switch sets the tempo rate.
8. Repeats –turn this control clockwise to add more
repeats. Goes from a single repeat at 0 to manic self-
oscillation at 11.
9. Effects Loop Blend –control how much the repeats
are affected by the effects loop here (0 = fully
affected, 11 = fully unaffected). If not using the
effects loop, keep this control at 11.

10. Mix –turn this control clockwise to increase how
loud the repeats are. Goes from nothing at all at 0 to
slightly louder than unity at 11.
11. Time –controls the delay time. Goes from 35ms at 0
to 950ms at 11. This control can be overridden with
the tap tempo footswitch. Turning this control then
overrides the tapped tempo.
12. Tap In / Out –connect a Normally Open Momentary
footswitch to remotely control the tempo. This
connection is linked to the Tap Tempo Footswitch,
and sends a Normally Open Momentary signal when
the footswitch is tapped. This allows you to sync
other compatible pedals with the Holy Era.
13. Effects Loop Return - if using effects in the Holy Era’s
effects loop, plug the output of the last pedal in the
loop here.
14. Output - plug your amp or next effect pedal in here.
15. Bypass LED –this light will shine when the effect is
active.
16. Bypass Footswitch –turn the Holy Era on and off with
this latching soft touch footswitch.

The Delay
The delay section of the Holy Era is pretty special in and of
itself. It keeps your original signal completely analogue, and
uses a digital chip specifically designed to sound like the
analogue BBD chips of old. This means you get full, lush,
analogue-sounding delay with a few modern advantages.
The first of these advantages is the increased delay time.
Almost all analogue delays can’t manage more than 300ms of
delay: the Holy Era more than triples that to up to 950ms of
delay time. As the delay time is increased, the repeats
degrade and darken, just like a real analogue delay. You get
the best of both worlds!
The Repeats control goes from one single repeat to insane
self-oscillation, where the repeats then repeat on themselves
and the repeats then repeat on themselves and the repeats
then repeat on themselves.
The Holy Era’signal circuit is also designed to sound
articulate and present even with modern distortion tones.
But that’s not all.

The Effects Loop
What makes the Holy Era Tap Tempo Delay truly special is its
effects loop. Using this loop, you can use other effects to
change the sound of the delay repeats. The only limit here is
your imagination. You can put any effect, or any combination
of effects, in here: fuzz, tremolo, and phaser all work well
here. Pitch shifting is particularly good.
This can be done on some other delay pedals, but what
makes the Holy Era truly unique is the Effects Loop Blend
control. This control allows you to select any ratio of dry to
wet signal, allowing you to be more subtle if you choose.
Experiment with the Holy Era’s effects loop and effects loop
blend control, and you’ll be able to create custom delay
sounds that have never been heard before.

Tapping the Tempo
One of the best things about the Holy Era Tap Tempo Delay is
the ability to set the tempo by tapping either the on-board
tap tempo footswitch, or an external footswitch. The Holy
Era’s tap tempo footswitch can also be connected to other
compatible devices to set their tempo too.
The Tap Tempo Footswitch
Tap four times to register the tempo accurately. The Tempo
LED will light solid while the tempo is being tapped. Turn the
Time control to override the tapped tempo.
The Tap Ratio Switch
The Tap Ratio switch can take the tempo tapped and change
it, allowing you to get an anthemic dotted eighth note delay
or a slapback faster than any foot is capable of tapping. The
switch has three settings:
Switch up –tempo is doubled (tapping 60bpm will
register 120bpm)

Switch centre –tempo is set to dotted eighth, or
150% of the tempo (tapping 60bpm will register
90bpm)
Switch down –tempo is registered normally (tapping
60bpm will register 60bpm)
The Tap In / Out Jack
You can use this jack to either send the Holy Era’s on-board
tap footswitch signal to another compatible pedal (such as
the Dark Waves Tap Tempo Tremolo pedal) or to accept any
Normally Open momentary switch as an external tap tempo.
