ØI/O Expansion ort
ØEasy Set Up and Operation
ØFully Configurable/ rogrammable

2.0 Display and Controls
2.1 Display
The numer c d splay s the processed result of the s gnal from the scale base. At
102% of capac ty and above the d splay nd cates oLoAd.
2.2 Status Indicators
Colored LED l ght bars are used above each legend.
0On when we ght s w th n ¼ ncrement of zero.
MOTION On when we ght exceeds the mot on cr ter a programmed.
GROSS On when gross we ght s d splayed.
NET On when net we ght s d splayed (a tare has been subtracted.)
lb On when d splay s n un ts of lb avo rdupo s.
kg On when d splayed s n un ts of k lograms.

2.3 Keypad
ZERO Press and hold for at least 3 seconds to establ sh the zero reference
and the po nt where zero track ng s operat onal, f the auto zero track ng feature
has been enabled. The meter can be programmed to zero over the ent re range
of cal brat on or ±2% of the range. Mot on l ght must be ext ngu shed for th s
operat on to take effect.
TARE Press to subtract the we ght of empty conta ners from the gross we ght.
The we ght subtracted s stored as a tare value and the d splay sw tches to net
we gh ng mode.
GROSS
NET If a tare we ght has been subtracted, the value d splayed can be toggled
between gross we ght and net we ght by press ng th s key. When tare s cleared
to zero the d splay automat cally sw tches to gross we gh ng mode.
UNITS Press th s key to select we gh ng n un ts of pounds avo rdupo s (lb)
or k lograms (kg.) The we ght meter automat cally adjusts the ncrement s ze to
be cons stent w th the number of d v s ons n wh ch the meter was cal brated.
RINT Press th s key to send d splayed we ght and un ts to the ser al port.
A var ety of pr nt formats can be selected when sett ng up the meter. Upon
successful output, f rst a ser es of dashes mov ng from r ght to left w ll show on
the d splay then the data w ll be sent out the ser al port.

3.0 Setup
Set up of the Model 5 requ res that the un t be prov ded w th power v a the TB1
connector and connected to the load cell v a the TB3 connector. The opt onal connector,
TB2, s used f a ser al pr nter/computer s suppl ed.
3.1 ower Connection
Refer to the Model 5 c rcu t board draw ng n Sect on 8.0 BOARD LAYOUT
to locate the power connector TB1, the RS232 connector TB2, and the load cell
connector TB3. Remove the back panel by unscrew ng the s x screws around the
per meter. Push the wall transformer cable through the r ghtmost stra n rel ef,
SR1. Push the load cell cable through the leftmost stra n rel ef, SR3. Us ng the
suppl ed three pos t on term nal block, attach the three conductor power supply
cable w res us ng a small, flat-blade screwdr ver accord ng to the follow ng color
codes:
Wall Transformer
/N AA-091AG TB1 Wall Transformer
/N 48A-9-1000 TB1
BROWN +IN RED +IN
GREEN GND WHITE GND
BLUE -IN BLACK -IN
Ensure that the Green or Wh te w re from the wall transformer s always connected
to the GND term nal as th s connect on s the safety earth conductor. The un t
becomes grounded or earthed by plugg ng the wall transformer nto a properly
w red three term nal wall receptacle. Never defeat the ground connect on n the
nterest of safety and no se reject on. Insert the power term nal onto TB1 of the
Model 5 c rcu t board.

3.2 Load Cell Connection
Connect the suppl ed seven pos t on load cell term nal block to the load cell cable
accord ng to the follow ng table legend. Refer to the manufacturer of the load
cell(s) used for the w re color codes.
If the load cell does not prov de the +/- Sense leads, jumper the +EXC to the +SEN
and EXC to the SEN term nals for proper operat on. Insert the load cell term nal
block onto TB3 of the Model 5 c rcu t board. The un t s now ready for setup/cal brat on.
Apply power v a the wall transformer.
