NOTES ON HEADPHONES / EARPHONES
Do not use headphones / earphones while driving, cycling, or operating any motorised vehicle.It
may create a traffic hazard and is illegal in some areas.It can also be potentially dangerous to play
your CDs at high volume while walking, especially at pedestrian crossings.You should exercise
caution or discontinue use in potentially hazardous situations.
Avoid using headphones / earphones at high volume. Hearing experts advise against continuous,
loud and extended play. If you experience a ringing in your ears, reduce volume or discontinue use.
Keepthevolumeat amoderate level.Thiswill allowyouto hearoutside sounds and to be considerate
to the people around you.
If you have any questions or problems concerning your unit, please consult your nearest

POWER SOURCES
USINGWITH BATTERIES
Insert two size AA batteries (LR6 or MN1500 alkaline) into the battery compartment, with the “ ”
and “ ” marks on the underside of the case correctly aligned.
NOTES ON BATTERIES
• Insert batteries with correct polarity.
• Do not use old batteries together with new ones or different types of batteries together.
• If the electrolyte inside the battery leaks, wipe the contaminated parts with a cloth and replace
the old batteries with new ones.
• When the unit is not to be used for a long period of time, remove the batteries.
• Do not mix old and new batteries.
• Do not mix ALKALINE, standard (CARBON-ZINC) or rechargeable (NICKEL-CADMIUM)
batteries.
NOTES ON “ ” (BATTERY LOW INDICATOR)
• During playback (when fully charged batteries are in use), “ ” is off.
• When the battery voltage level is low, “ ” will flash. Playback will continue for approx
10- 15 minutes before the batteries are exhausted.
• Playback will automatically come to stop when the batteries have no more power. Do not
repeatedly press “ ” button as the unit may operate incorrectly. Replace all the batteries
with new ones.
•“ ” will not be on when an AC adaptor is used.
AC POWER ADAPTOR
If the unit you purchased does not include an AC power adaptor, please use a 6V 350mA AC
power adaptor.Plus pole “ ” to the center pin of the 5.5mm socket.
When the unit is not in use, be sure to disconnect the AC power adaptor from the mains supply.

ON SAFETY
As the laser beam used in this compact disc player could be harmful to the eyes, do not attempt to
disassemble the casing.Refer servicing to qualified personnel only.
• Do not put any foreign objects in the disc compartment. If you do so, the laser beam interlock
may be defeated allowing the laser to remain on when the lid is opened.
• Donot put anyforeign objectsin theDC IN 6V(externalpower input)jack. Should any solid objects
orliquidfallintotheunit,disconnect the power supplyandhavetheunitchecked by qualified personnel
beforeanyfurther operation.
ON OPERATION
Sincethe CD system offers awide dynamicrange, thepeaks of thehigh levelinputs arerecorded with
highfidelity,andthe noise levelis very low.Do not turn up the volume while listening to a part of
thedisc with no audio signals or very lowlevel inputs. Ifyou doso, the speakersmay bedamaged
whenthepeaklevelofthesoundisplayed. The lens ofthelasershouldbekeptclean.Donot touch the lens
orpokeatitwith yourfingers.Ifyoudoso, the lensmaybedamagedandthe unit willnotoperate correctly.

ON USE
Neveruse the unit where it would besubject to:
- Heatsources suchas radiatorsor airducts.
- Direct sunlight.
- Excessive dust.
- Moisture or rain.
- Mechanical vibration or shock.

• Do not place any heavy object on top of the unit.
• When the unit is used with an AC power adaptor, do not wrap the unit in a cloth, blanket,
etc.Ifyou do so,the temperature inside and outside the unit mayrise considerably,resulting
in malfunctioning of the unit.
• If the unit is brought directly from a cold to a warm location, or is placed in a very damp
room, the moisture may condense on the lens inside the unit.Should this occur, the unit will
not operate. In this case, remove the disc and leave the unit in a warm place for several
hours until the moisture evaporates.

above35°C (95° F).
FUNCTION OF CONTROLS
OPEN Opening the CD tray to insert or remove a disc.
PLAY/PAUSE
Press to begin play.
Press during play to pause.
To release pause, press again.
STOP
Press once for disc playing stops.
Press twice for power off.
Track search and fast forward / fast reverse
SKIP -
Press lightly / repeatedly:
To locate the beginning of the current selection or previous selections.
Keep depressed:
To go back at high speed(search).
SKIP +
Press lightly / repeatedly:
To locate the beginning of next selection / selections.
Keep depressed:
To go ahead at high speed (search).
PROGRAM PROG (Program)
Playing the selections in the desired order.
PLAY MODE Button for selecting the various play mode.

TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE
Shouldany problem persist after youhavemade the following checks, consult your nearest service
facility.
DISC PLAY DOES NOT START:
• The disc is inserted upside down or incorrectly. Insert the disc correctly with the label surface
up
• Dusty or defective disc
• Dirty or dusty lens
• The disc compartment lid is not closed
• Moisture condensation-> leave the unit in a warm place until the moisture evaporates
• The AC power adaptor is not plugged into the wall outlet
• The unit is not placed on a level surface
• Weak batteries
NO SOUND FROMTHE HEADSETS:
• The headphones / earphones plug is not firmly connected to the “PHONES”jack.
• Adjust the volume control
• Dirty plug
NO SOUND FROMTHE CONNECTED SPEAKERS:
• Check the connections
• The amplifier is not turned on
SKIPPING OF SOUND:
• Dirty or defective disc
• Dirty lens
• Strong vibration
WHEN USINGWITH BATTERIESTHE BATTERY LIFE IS SHORT:
• Manganese batteries are used. Use alkaline batteries.
DISPLAYWINDOWSHOWS“ ”ERRORMESSAGEANDTHE UNIT CANNOTBE OPERATED:
• No disc, dirty or scratched disc. The unit will return to power off after approx.30 seconds, or
reset the player by pressing “ ”button once and then insert a disc to start playing.

DISC PLAYING
1. Open the CD door by pressing the OPEN button.
2. Place a CD with the label side facing upwards onto the centre spindle, gently push down until
the disc clicks in place.
3. Press the top of the CD lid to close.
ON DISPLAYWINDOWS
If a CD is loaded, when you press “ ” button, the display window shows:
DURING PLAYING
The track number of the current selection appears.
When “ ” is pressed during play, total number of tracks on the disc will be displayed and the unit
will stop playing.
If “ ” is pressed again the unit will be returned to full stop mode. If “ ” is pressed the unit
returns to play mode.
Note: When the STOP button has been pressed once during play, if another button is not pressed
within 30 seconds, then the unit will be placed in full stop mode.
DURING PAUSE
The playing track number will flash.
When no disc is inserted and “ ” button is pressed,“ ” will be shown in the display.
The unit cannot be operated when error message is displayed. After approx. 30 seconds the unit
will return to full stop mode. Reset the player by pressing“ ”once and then insert a disc to start
playing.
VARIOUS PLAYING MODES
During playback, every time the “ PLAY MODE ” button is pressed, the playing mode will be
changed as follows:
IN NORMAL PLAYING MODE:
NORMAL PLAY -> ( ) REPEAT ONE -> ( ) REPEAT ALL -> INTRO -> SHUFFLE
NORMAL PLAY-- Playing the whole disc
The CD is played once from the beginning to the end.
REPEAT PLAYBACK-- Repeat One and Repeat All
• To repeat single track
Press “ PLAY MODE ” button during play until “ ” appears in the
display.The selected track will be played repeatedly.
To select another track, press “ ”or “ ” button.
• To repeat whole disc
Press “ PLAY MODE ” button during play until “ ” appears in the
display.
The whole disc will be played repeatedly.
INTRO PLAY-- Playing the first ten seconds of all the tracks
1. Press “ PLAY MODE ” button during play until “ INTRO ” flashes in the
display.
2. Press “ ” button to begin “ INTRO ” play.
Each track will be played about ten seconds.
3. Pressing “ ” button again will cease intro play and continue to normal
playback.
NOTE:Intro play always starts from the first track.

SHUFFLE PLAY--playing the tracks in random order
1. Press “ PLAY MODE ” button during play until “SHUFF ”flashes
in the display.
2. Press “ PLAY/PAUSE ” button to begin the shuffle play.
• To locate the next track, press “ ” button.
NOTE:You cannot locate the previous track even you keep the “ ” button
pressed.
PROGRAM PLAY--playing the tracks in the desired order
1. Press “ PROGRAM ” button until “ PROG ” and “ 01 ” flash in the
display.
2. Press “ ” or “ ” button to select the desired track.
3. Press “ PROGRAM ” button to register track no.6, for example,
as the first selection.The program number indication will be
changed to the next one, for example:“02 ”.
4. Repeat steps 2 to 3, until all the desired tracks are programmed
(up to 24 tracks).
5. Press “ ” button, and program playing begins.
NOTES:
• Repeat play and intro play can be performed during program play. But shuffle play is inactive.
• The program is erased, when:
1. The disc compartment is opened or the auto power off function turns the power off.
2. If the program mode is exited by one press of the “ ” button, all the program will still
remain in memory.
3. If the “ ” button is pressed a second time then the stored program will be erased.
• The program still remain in the memory when “ ” button is pressed.
PROGRAM EDITION
To add: To add additional tracks to your selection during program playback, press “ ” button
first and then press “ PROGRAM ” button repeatedly until“00” flashes in the display.
Repeat the above step 2 and 3 to store additional tracks.
To check: Press “ PROGRAM”buttonlightly during programmingbefore you press“ ”button.
Eachtime “PROGRAM ” button is pressed the programnumberappears in the display
window.
To change: When checking press either skip button to alter the track number for the program
currently displayed. Press “ PROGRAM ” button to register the newly selected track
into memory.
To delete: Openingthe CDdoor willresult in any Programmedmemory being deleted.
MAINTENANCE
CLEANINGTHE UNIT
Do not use volatile chemicals on this unit.Clean by lightly wiping with a soft cloth.
CLEANING A CD
If the CD skips or will not play, the disc may need to be cleaned.
Before playing, wipe the disc from its centre to its outer edge with a soft cleaning cloth. After
playing, store the disc in its case.
HANDLINGTHE DISC
Only touch the CD on the edge to avoid finger prints on its surface.
Do not stick paper or tape nor write anything on the surface of the CD.
