1. Preface
To ensure safe operation and long-term performance stability, it is essential that you fully understand the
equipment functions, operation, and maintenance before using the equipment.
Please keep this manual in a safe place for easy retrieval.
This device is intended for use under the direct supervision of a licensed veterinarian. The intended use
of this device is to measure parameters that indicate a patient’s status during veterinary procedures (see
Section 2-Features and Options).
To ensure operator and patient safety, use only parts and accessories that meet the manufacturers’
requirements as recommended by Vetland Medical Sales and Services, L.L.C. Parts used which are not
authorized by the manufacturer may cause damage to the product and may void the product warranty.

Thank you for purchasing the Vetland Medical Sales and Services L.L.C., Model 1407 Multi-parameter
Veterinary Monitor. The V1407 Monitor provides a variety of information about a patient’s status via
numeric values and waveforms. It has the following features:

WARNING is used to indicate the presence of a hazard which can

CAUTION is used to indicate the presence of a hazard which will or can

4. Safety Precautions
Basic Precautions
Please observe the following basic safety precautions:
Avoid placing in an area exposed to
moisture. Do not touch the equipment
with wet- hands.
Avoid exposure to direct sunlight.
Avoid placing in an area where there is a
high variation of temperature. Operating
temperature ranges from 10

Avoid using in the vicinity of an
electric heater.
Avoid placing in an area where there is
an excessive humidity rise or ventilation
problem.

Pre-Use Precautions
Please check the following before using the system:
WARNING
The V1407 is intended only to measure and assess a patient’s state. It
must be used in conjunction with clinical signs and symptoms when
diagnosis is made.
Only qualified personnel should use the veterinary monitor. Please read
the user’s manual before use. Read carefully all the directions for any
accessories and optional equipment.
Use of this product is prohibited during Magnetic Resonance Imaging
(MRI). A fire may breakout from the induced current, and the accuracy
of the product and the MRI may be influenced by cross-interference.
When the product is to be moved, make sure to turn it off and secure all
electrical cords/cables and accessories for transport. Damaged cords or
cables may cause fire or electric shock.
The computerized ECG analysis should be judged by qualified
veterinary professionals and should not be the sole basis in determining
necessity of treatment for a patient.
Data Interference may occur if the V1407 is operated in close proximity
to an electrosurgical unit.
Improper use or treatment of batteries may cause fire or injury:
Do not use batteries other than those specified in this manual.
Do not use the batteries if they are leaking or damaged.
Do not short-circuit the battery.
Do not heat, incinerate, or dispose of batteries in a fire.
To ensure the patient is electrically isolated, connect the product only to
other equipment that also provides patient electrical isolation.
All equipment should be checked regularly to ensure proper operation.

Electrical Safety Precautions
Please read the following before using the system:
CAUTION
To prevent electric noise during use, the product should be installed apart
from any dynamo, X-ray equipment, broadcast equipment, or portable
cables. An inaccurate result may occur if this equipment is placed near the
product.
When not in use for extended periods of time the battery should be
disconnected to prevent excessive depletion.
Damaged cords or cables may cause fire or electric shock.
NOTE
The V1407 is:
-Class IIb equipment.
-Type CF grade for ECG, Resp, and IBP.
-Type BF grade for EtCO2, SpO2, NIBP, and Temperature
The noise level is Class B according to the IEC/EN 60601-1 (Safety of
Electric Medical Products).
The noise redemption is Level B according to the IEC/EN 60601-1-2
(Electromagnetic Compatibility Requirements).
The Protection grade against water is IPX 2.
Patient Safety Precautions
To protect the patient observe the following precautions:
CAUTION
The analysis of arterial blood pressure measurements should be
judged by qualified veterinary professionals.
Arterial blood pressure may be influenced by a patient’s posture,
physical condition and other factors such as a patient’s movement.
Premature patients and patients with chronic pulmonary disease
should be checked for oxygenation levels before starting treatment.
Sensor-attachment sites should be checked at least every 4 hours.
Please check if the sensors are properly attached, if the skin condition
is normal, and if the sensors are well positioned. Special care is
required for patients with poor blood flow. If the sensor attachment
status is not checked periodically, it may lead to skin injury by
extended contact and necrosis from the pressure. Patients with weak
blood flow should be checked regularly so that injury cannot occur.

6. How to Set the V1407
Precautions for Settings
When setting the V1407, pay attention to the following:
•Use under conditions of 10 ◦C to 35 ◦C of circumstantial temperature and 30% – 85% humidity.
•Check the connection status of the power cord.
•Do not connect multiple cords to the power supply.
•Place the monitor on a flat area.
•Connect grounded AC power cord.
•Remove any obstructions near the unit as well as any products noted in 4-Safety Precautions.
Verify Before Use
Verify the following before measuring the patient’s condition:
•Verify that there is no mechanical risk.
•Verify all cable and sensor attachments are secure.
Maintenance and Cleaning After Use
•Clean the monitor at least once a month using a soft cloth. Do not use thinner, ethylene, oxidant,
or lacquer since these may damage the product.
•Keep the accessories clean of dust or foreign materials. For cleaning, use a soft cloth and mild
detergent.
•Do not soak the accessories in liquid or detergents. Keep the product and accessories away from
any liquid.
