Introduction
The RI-2 Relay Interface allows selection of main or standby video and stereo audio
signals. This selection may be made manually or remotely. Front panel LEDs indicate the
currently active signals.
Auxilliary relay contacts are also provided.
The RI-2R rackmount version contains either 1 or 2 RI-2 modules. These modules are
identical to the RI-2 desktop version, which is described throughout this manual.
Installation and Operation
The RI-2 is a 2 input x 1 output relay switcher with channels for video, audio left, and audio
right. Two form-C auxilliary relay contacts are also provided, for custom applications.
The video connectors are of the BNC type. Connect the main and standby video sources to
the corresponding video inputs. Connect the video output to the required destination.
The audio connections are balanced, and made via screw clamp terminal blocks. Connect
the main and standby audio sources to the corresponding inputs. Connect the audio
outputs to the required destinations.
The two auxilliary relay contacts are of the form-C type. The normally closed and normally
open conditions apply when the main inputs are selected. The contacts switch when the
standby inputs are selected.
Switching between main and standby inputs is accomplished manually or remotely.
Pressing the front panel switch will alternate between the main and remote inputs. Front
panel LEDs indicate the currently active inputs. Shorting pins 1 and 2 on the remote
connector will also alternate betweeen inputs. This may be accomplished with a remote
pushbutton, or by using a relay contact closure, such as those provided by the SD-2
Silence Detector or VSD-2 Video Sync Detector.
A schematic diagram of a complete RI-2 module is included at the end of this section.
