Part 1 Quick Guide
Part 1 is a simpler version of the user manual, which aims to show users quickly to set up VidOn
Import Utility, VidOn Server, VidOn DVDWatchBox, how to import DVDs into VidOn Server, and
how to hook the VidOn DVDWatchBox with a home TV. If you want to explore everything in
great details, please directly move on to Part 2, User Manual in Great Details.

Step 1: Software Setup
1.1 Software Installation
Unwrap the CD disc and throw it into the DVD Drive of your Windows computer, and then follow
the onscreen instructions to finish the installation.
1.2 Activate VidOn Import Utility
To activate VidOn Import Utility, a VidOn Account is required.
1.2.1 On the wrapping envelope of the software CD, you will find a serial number printed on it;
1.2.2 Open your browser, and then copy&paste the URL http://vidon.me/uc/account/bestbuy to
open the webpage;
1.2.3 At the webpage, create a VidOn Account or use your own VidOn Account (if you already
have one), and enter the serial number mentioned above to send us a request;

1.2.4 Start up VidOn Import Utility and go to the activation window, enter your VidOn Account
to activate the application.
1.3 Convert a DVD Disc
1.3.1 Insert a DVD disc into your DVD optical drive, and then launch VidOn Import Utility to
access it automatically;
1.3.2 At the lower left part of the interface, select an output codec, video quality, and the
output directory;

1.3.3 Press the Start button to start the conversion. When it finishes, there will be a message
reminding you that the converted video has been automatically imported to VidOn Server. If
your VidOn Server is not currently running, it will be forced open automatically.
1.4 Start up VidOn Server
1.4.1 Start up VidOn Server and refresh your media library, you will find the converted video is
already there; you can decide to show all the media, or set up a filter to show what you want
only.

1.4.2 When you click the playback button, the video plays instantly, however, due to the limited
features of the browser native player, you have only options on audio and subtitle selections. To
get a better watching experience, it is recommended that you watch the video on VidOn
DVDWatchBox.
Step 2: Hardware Setup
2.1 Hook up the DVDWatchBox with Your TV
2.1.1 Plug one end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI port on the back of your DVDWatchBox;
2.1.2 Plug the other end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI IN port on your TV;
2.1.3 Switch into the appropriate HDMI input on your TV.
2.2 Set up VidOn DVDWatchBox
Press the Power button on the DVDWatchBox for approximately 4 seconds till the light indicator
turns blue, which means the DVDWatchBox is turned on.

2.2.1 Navigate to Settings>Network, and setup an internet access, it could be a Wi-Fi hotspot, it
also could be your Ethernet cable;
2.2.2 Navigate to Settings>Media Server, and then select your VidOn Server. Make sure your
VidOn Server is already running on your computer.
Step 3: Video Playback
Video playback and playback control is pretty much easy. Just use the IR-Remote, or together
with the onscreen menu for the playback control.
3.1 Play a Target Movie
3.1.1 Use the IR-Remote to locate the movie you want to watch, and then press the OK button
on the Remote to enter the Meta data screen;

3.1.2 Then, you can either decide to watch the movie in Menu Mode, or directly play back the
feature-length movie itself.
3.2 Video Playback Control
3.2.1 You can use the IR-Remote for the video playback control, which is very similar to your TV
Remote;

1Up: Move upward
○
2OK: To confirm a particular action, or as an “Enter” button

3Left: Move left

4Down: Move downward

5Volume Down: Turn the system volume down
○
8Power: To wake up from or put the VidOn DVDWatchBox into sleep mode. Be aware that
this does not power off the box.

9Right: Move right
○
10 Back: Return to previous screen running or canceling an activity
○
11 Volume Up: Turn the system volume up
○
12 Home: Return to the home screen
○
13 Menu: Call out the options menu for your current screen or running application
3.2.2 You can also use the onscreen playback control menu to work with the IR-Remote. To call
out the onscreen menu, just press the Menu button on the IR-Remote.

Part 2 User Manual in Great Details
Part 2 is a detailed user manual on VidOn Import Utility, VidOn Server, VidOn DVDWatchBox,
how each of these three applications works, and how to hook up the VidOn DVDWatchBox with
a home TV and home theater system. Everything is in great details, with illustrations. If you feel
it a little bit lengthy and just want a quick startup, please jump back to Part 1, the Quick Guide.

Section 1: Prologue
The moment when you walked out the local BestBuy Store with a package containing the VidOn
DVDWatchBox, you probably may not have realized that the things inside the package are going
to reshape your entire entertainment life, in a completely new and amazing manner never seen
before.
First things first!
What’s inside the box? Just tear it open and you will find the followings items: a VidOn
DVDWatchBox, an IR-Remote, a Power Adaptor, an HDMI cable, and a VidOn Software CD Disc.
All these things are necessary, so make sure you get all of them. If anyone is missing, just return
the BestBuy Store where you purchased them to get replaced.
Now, it’s time to get started! Don’t be scared! To get all of these things figured out requires no
sophisticated knowledge and you won’t necessarily be a technique savvy. Here in this User
Manual, we have included everything in a chronological order, all is left for you to do is to follow
the detailed instructions from A to Z, and when you finally get all these done, you will feel
relaxed and fingers crossed. Whoa, it is as easy as pie!

Section 2: VidOn Software CD
2.1 What’s on the VidOn Software CD?
When you are back at home, it is recommend that you start with the software part first. On the
disc, there are two VidOn software applications. One is VidOn Import Utility which serves as the
video import tool for you to convert your DVDs to a specific file format, officially addressed as
VidOn, which consists of everything from the original disc, including the navigation menus. The
other one is VidOn Server, which serves as your multimedia management hub that smartly
manages and categorizes your movies, TV Shows, and videos. The two applications are
combined into one setup file, which means they will be installed once and for all by a single
installation.
2.2 Install VidOn Import Utility & VidOn Server
Unwrap the CD disc and throw it into the DVD Drive of your Windows computer, and then follow
the onscreen instructions to finish the installation step by step as shown below:
Step 1: Select your preferred setup language and click OK;
Step 2: Click Next;

Step 3: Accept the License Agreement and click Next;
Step 4: Click the Browse button to select where you want to install. Simply click Next to proceed
if you want to use the default path.
Step 5: The two applications are by default to be installed. Click Next to proceed;

Step 6: Select whether or not you want to create a desktop icon and a quick launch icon, and
click Next to proceed;
Step 7: Wait until the installation process finishes on its own;

Step 8: Upon completion, you can launch both applications immediately or manually launch
them at a later time.
Now that you’ve installed the two applications on your computer, it is necessary to hit the iron
when it is still hot. Next in Section 3 and Section 4, we will show you how to use the two
applications from square one. Both are very user-friendly, even to senior people. So take a
breath and let’s move forward to Section 3.

Section 3: VidOn Import Utility
VidOn Import Utility is capable of converting a DVD disc into a specific file format officially called
VidOn, preserving the original navigation menus, and then transfers the converted file
automatically into VidOn Server, where users can scrap related Meta information from internet,
and then watch it via DVDWatchBox with the amazing menu experience that equalizes the
original disc.
3.1 Features at a Glance
VidOn Import Utility enables users to:
a. significantly shrink the original file size on a DVD, without losing any single slice of the original
content, including the navigation menus;
b. customarily and selectively output both high fidelity audio tracks and high definition videos;
or
c. maximally decrease the file size to save storage space, but minimally trade in the video quality.
3.2 Activate VidOn Import Utility
Due to the fact that it is not sold as an independent software product, there is not a license or
activation code for it. To activate the VidOn Import Utility, a VidOn Membership Account is
required. Here below is the detailed tutorial about the activation process.

Step 1: Find the Serial Number
Remember the Software CD? Don’t ditch the wrapping envelope, because right on its front
cover, a serial number printed there. Find that serial number;
Step 2: Launch VidOn Import Utility
Start up the software and click the Register button which shall take you to a webpage where you
are supposed to create your VidOn.me Membership Account, or you can simple copy and paste
this URL (http://vidon.me/uc/account/bestbuy) into your browser for the same purpose;
Step 3: Create Your VidOn.me Membership Account
Enter a unique username, your email address, set up a password, and enter the above-
mentioned serial number before you click the Register button below.
If you already have a VidOn Membership Account long before you by VidOn DVDWatchBox, then
you can just use that account to activate VidOn Import Utility. And in that case, you may click

the “Using an Existing Account” tab, and then enter your account information and also still the
serial number to submit your activation request.
Step 4: Activate VidOn Import Utility
Once your VidOn.me Membership Account is successfully created, go back to the VidOn Import
Utility activation window, and activate the software with the account you’ve just created.
