Congratulations on your purchase o a ViewSonic® ViewPanel® display.
Important! Save the original box and all packing material for future shipping
needs.
NOTE: The word “Windows” in this user guide re ers to the ollowing
Microso t operating systems: Windows 95, Windows NT, Windows 98,
Windows 2000, Windows Me (Millennium), and Windows XP.
Package Contents
Your ViewPanel package includes:
• ViewPanel display
• Power cords with adapter
• Video cable
• ViewSonic Wizard CD-ROM
NOTE: The CD jacket contains the Quick Start Guide, and the CD includes the
User Guide PDF iles and INF/ICM display optimization iles. The INF ile
ensures compatibility with Windows operating systems, and the ICM ile (Image
Color Matching) ensures accurate on-screen colors. ViewSonic recommends
that you install both iles.
Precautions
• Sit at least 18" rom your ViewPanel display.
•Avoid ouching he screen. Skin oils are
di icult to remove.
•Never remove he rear cover. Your
ViewPanel display contains high-voltage
parts. You may be seriously injured i you
touch them.
• Avoid exposing your ViewPanel display to
direct sunlight or another heat source. Orient
your ViewPanel display away rom direct
sunlight to reduce glare.
• Always handle your ViewPanel display with
care when moving it.
• Place your ViewPanel display in a well-
ventilated area. Do not place anything on your
ViewPanel display that prevents heat
dissipation.
• Ensure the area around the ViewPanel display
is clean and ree o moisture.
• Do not place heavy objects on the ViewPanel
display, video cable, or power cord.
• I smoke, abnormal noise, or strange odor is
present, immediately switch the ViewPanel
display o and call your dealer or ViewSonic.
It is dangerous to continue using the
ViewPanel display.

Quick Installation
Optional: For instructions on wall mounting,
see page 5 o this user guide.
1 Connect power cord and AC/DC
adapter
2 Connect video cable
• Make sure both the ViewPanel® display
and computer are turned OFF
• Remove rear panel covers i necessary
• Connect the video cable rom the View-
Panel to the computer
Macintosh users: Models older than G3
require a Macintosh adapter. Attach the
adapter to the computer and plug the video
cable into the adapter.
To order a ViewSonic® Macintosh adapter,
contact ViewSonic Customer Support.
3 Turn ON ViewPanel display and
computer
• Turn ON the ViewPanel display, then turn
ON the computer. This sequence (View-
Panel display be ore computer) is impor-
tant.
NOTE: Windows users may receive a
message asking them to install the INF ile.
This is on the CD.
4 Insert the View onic Wizard CD
into the computer’s CD drive
• Follow the on-screen instructions
I your computer does not have a CD-ROM
drive, see “Customer Support.”
(1) Wait or the CD-ROM to auto-start.
NOTE: I the CD-ROM does not auto-start:
double-click on the CD-ROM icon in the
Windows Explorer, then double-click on
viewsonic.exe.
(2) Follow the on-screen instructions.

guide.

Installation of Wall Mount (Optional)
To obtain a wall-mounting kit, contact ViewSonic or your local dealer. Re er to
the instructions that come with the base mounting kit. To convert your
ViewPanel rom a desk-mounted to a wall-mounted display, do the ollowing:
1Disconnect Power.
2Push the ViewPanel back and
down lat against the base as
shown.
3Lay the ViewPanel ace down on
a towel or blanket. Notice the
our screw holes on the bottom o
the base.
4Attach the mounting bracket
rom the VESA compatible wall-
mounting kit (75 mm x 75 mm
distance).
5Attach the ViewPanel to the wall,
ollowing the instructions in the
wall-mounting kit.

Using the ViewPanel Display
etting the Timing Mode
Setting the timing mode is important or maximizing the quality o the
screen image and minimizing eye strain. The iming mode consists o the
resolu ion (example 1024 x 768) and refresh ra e (or vertical requency;
example 60 Hz). A ter setting the timing mode, use the OnView® controls
to adjust the screen image.
For the best picture quality set your ViewPanel® display timing mode to:
VESA 1024 x 768 @ 60 Hz.
To set the Timing Mode:
1Set the resolution: Right-click on the Windows desktop > Proper ies >
Se ings > set the resolution.
2Set the re resh rate: See your graphic card's user guide or instructions.
WARNING: Do not set the graphics card in your computer to exceed the
maximum re resh rate o 75Hz; doing so may result in permanent damage to
your ViewPanel display.
O D and Power Lock ettings
OSD Lock: This mode locks all current control settings and prevents access to
the control menus until this mode is unlocked.
•OSD Lock: Press and hold [1] and the up arrow ▲ or 10 seconds. I any
buttons are pressed the message OSD Lock will display or 5 seconds.
•OSD Unlock: Press and hold [1] and the up arrow ▲ again or 10 seconds.
Power Bu on Lock: This mode locks the power o the ViewPanel in the ON
position.
•Power Bu on Lock: Press and hold [1] and the down arrow ▼ or 10
seconds. I the power button is pressed the message Power Lock will display
or 5 seconds. With or without this setting, a ter a power ailure, your
ViewPanel’s power will automatically turn ON when power is restored.
•Power Bu on Unlock: Press and hold [1] and the down arrow ▼ again or
10 seconds.

Adjusting the creen Image
Use the buttons on the ront control panel to display and adjust the OnView®
controls which display on the screen. The OnView controls are explained at the
top o the next page and are de ined in “Other In ormation” on page 12.

Do the following to adjust the screen image:
1To display the Main Menu, press button [1].
NOTE: All OnView menus and adjustment screens disappear automatically
a ter about 30 seconds. This time period is adjustable through the Setup
menu and the OSD timeout control described on page 11.
2To highlight a control you want to adjust, press ▲ or ▼ to scroll up or down
the Main Menu.
3To select the highlighted control, press button [2]. A control screen appears
like the example shown below.
4To adjust the control, press the up ▲ or down ▼ buttons.
5To save the adjustments and exit the menu, press button [1] twice.
The following tips may help you optimize your display:
• Adjust your computer's graphic card so that it outputs a video signal 1024 x
768 @ 60 Hz to the ViewPanel. (Look or instructions on “changing the
re resh rate” in your graphic card's user guide.)
• I necessary, make small adjustments using H POSITION and V POSITION
until the screen image is completely visible. (The black border around the
edge o the screen should barely touch the illuminated “active area” o the
ViewPanel®.)

Main Menu Controls
Adjust the menu items shown below by using the up ▲ and down ▼ buttons.
Control Explanation
Auto Image Adjust automatically sizes, centers, and ine tunes
the video signal to eliminate waviness and distortion.
Press the [2] button to obtain a sharper image.
NOTE: Auto Image Adjust works with most common video
cards. I this unction does not work on your ViewPanel®, then
lower the video re resh rate to 60 Hz and set the resolution to its
pre-set value.
Contrast adjusts the di erence between the image background
(black level) and the oreground (white level).
Brightness adjusts background black level o the screen image.
Color Adjust provides several color options: preset color
temperatures and User Color which allows you to adjust red (R),
green (G), and blue (B). The actory setting or this product is
6500K (6500 Kelvin).
9300K — Adds blue to the screen image or cooler white (used
in most o ice settings with luorescent lighting).
6500K — Adds red to the screen image or warmer white and
richer red. De ault setting.
5400K — Adds green to the screen image or a darker color.
User Color — Individual adjustments or red, green, and blue.
1To select color (R, G or B) press button [2].
2To adjust selected color, press ▲ or ▼.
3When you are inished making all color adjustments, press
button [1] twice.
