Save the original box and all packing material for your future shipping needs.
The word "Windows®" in this user guide refers to the following Microsoft®
operating systems: Windows '95, Windows '98, Windows NT®(4.0).
Package Contents
Your ViewSonic®VE150 package includes the following:
•ViewSonic VE150 ViewPanel
• Video cable (15 pin mini D-sub connector)
• DC adapter
• Power cord
• User’s guide
• INF and ICM installation files on CD-ROM
IMPORTANT: The supplied INF file assures compatibility with Windows
operating systems, and the ICM (Image Color Matching) file ensures accurate
on-screen colors. ViewSonic recommends that you install both files: insert the
CD-ROM into your system, wait for it to auto-install, select “Monitor
Drivers,” and follow the on-screen instructions.
• Sit at least 18" from the ViewPanel.
• DO NOT APPLY PRESSURE TO THE SCREEN. The LCD screen is
very delicate.
• DO NOT TOUCH THE SCREEN DIRECTLY WITH YOUR
FINGERS. You may damage the screen, and oil from your skin is
difficult to remove.
• Avoid exposing the ViewPanel to direct sunlight or other heat source.
The ViewPanel should be facing away from direct sunlight to reduce
glare.
• Choose a well ventilated area to position your ViewPanel to allow
adequate dissipation of heat. Do not place anything on top of the
ViewPanel.
• Ensure the area around the ViewPanel is clean and moisture-free.
• If smoke, abnormal noise, or strange odor is present, immediately
switch the ViewPanel off and call your dealer. It is dangerous to
continue using the ViewPanel.
• Never remove the rear cover. The display unit contains high-voltage
parts. You may suffer electric shock if you touch these parts.
• Always handle your ViewPanel with care when moving it.

Quick Installation
1 Connectvideocable
Make sureboththeViewPanel®and
computerarepoweredOFF.Connect the
video cable to the computer, then to
theViewPanel.
Macintosh
®
users: Connect a
Macintosh adapter (part No.VMAC-1)
to the video cable, then to the
ViewPanel.To order an adapter,
contactViewSonic (see the back cover
ofthisguide).You will need to provide
yourViewPanel's serial number.
2 Connect power adpater and cables
Connect the DC Adapter to the
ViewPanel, then to the power cord.
Connect the power cord to a properly
groundedACoutlet.
3 Power-oncomputer andViewPanel
PowerON the computer, then power
ON theViewPanel.
NOTE: At this pointWindows® 98 users
will receive a message askingthem to
install theVE150’s INF file.Insert the
enclosed CD-ROM diskette and follow
the on-screen instructions.
4 IMPORTANT:Initial screen image
adjustments
A. If there is no screen image and you
see theOutside Range Limits
message, check to make sure your
system is set toone of the factory
preset timing modes (see page 10.)
• If you also have a CRT monitor,
connect ittoyourcomputer and
setthe signal timing.

B. For the best image quality, set the

(but donot click "Yes").
(2) Use theVE150 controls to
adjust the CLOCK control until
thevertical bars vanish.(See
page8)
(3) Adjust CLOCK PHASE until the
horizontal bars ("line noise")
are minimized.(See page 9)
(4) Repeat steps (2) and (3) to
optimizethesharpnessofthe
screenimage.
(5) Select"No" toclosetheWindows
SHUTDOWNscreen.
NOTE:If you see theCheck Signal
Cable message, check to see that
the video cable and power cable are
both securely attached.

Adjusting the Screen Image
With your ViewPanel powered ON, follow the numbered steps in sequence as
shown below.
Power light:

Contrast adjusts the contrast
between the background (black
level) and the foreground (white
level) of the screen image.
[>] Increases contrast
[<] Decreases contrast
Brightness adjusts the
background black level of the
screen image.
[>] Increases brightness

Shortcut : Before you display the
Main Menu, press [>] or [<] to
display the Brightness
adjustment screen.
H Position (Horizontal Position)
moves
the screen image to the
left or right.
[>] Moves the screen image right

moves the screen image up or

Clock adjusts the horizontal
size (width) of the screen image,
and mimimizes the vertical bars
that can be present during initial
installation.

Clock Phase minimizes narrow
horizontal lines ("horizontal
noise") and sharpens displayed
characters of text.
[>] or [<] to adjust

OSD Time allows you to select
the length of time the Main
Menu or adjustment screen
OSD (On Screen Display) is
displayed on screen.
[>] Increases
the OSD display
time.
[<] Decreases the OSD display
time.
ViewMatch®Color provides
two preset color temperature
options and a user-defined
option.
[>] or [<] to highlight an option.
9300K is slightly bluish white,
ideal for use under fluorescent
lights.
6500K (factory default) is warm-
white, good for displaying a video
image.
User allows you to adjust the
intensities of R (red), G (green),
and B (blue) individually.
[>] or [<] to adjust each color
OSD Position allows you to
select where the Main Menu or
adjustment screen OSD (On
Screen Display) will display.
H Position (Horizontal Position)
[>] moves the OSD to the right
[<] moves the OSD to the left
V Position (Vertical Position)
[>] moves the OSD up
[<] moves the OSD down
Language allows you to
choose from one of five
languages for the Main Menu
and adjustment screens:
English, German, French,
Spanish, and Italian.
[>] or [<] to select a language.
Mode Recall recalls the
factory default settings for most
controls.
With "YES" selected, the press
ENTER button to the recall
factory default setting for all
controls (except User Color).
If you change your mind and
would not like to recall factory
default settings, highlight "NO"
and press the ENTER button.
ViewMeter®displays the signal
timing (resolution and refresh
rate) coming from the video card
in your computer.
For example,1024x768 / 60Hz
means 1024x768 resolution at a
refresh rate (vertical frequency)
of 60 Hertz.
NOTE: If the signal timing
coming from your video card is
not one of the factory presets, it
will not be recalled the next time
you power-on the ViewPanel.
Tip: For the best results, adjust
Clock andClock Phase
together:
1From theWindows®95 or 98
STARTmenu,selectSHUTDOWN
(but donot click "Yes").
2AdjustClock until the vertical
barsvanish.
3AdjustClock Phase until the
horizontal lines ("line noise") are
minimized.
4Repeat steps 2 and 3 to
