along with this superbly agile and hyper-efficient Volvo S40 DRIVe with Start/Stop technology.

Modern art meets modern life

Inspired by modern furniture design, there is nothing fussy here – just smart, Scandinavian
design that manages to reduce stress and simplify the use of some very sophisticated
onboard technology. The floating centre console presents controls for the infotainment
and climate systems within easy reach while hundreds of considerate details, quality
materials, and innovative storage solutions surround you and your guests. The bent wood
centre stack seen here features real oak-finish so you can feel the wood grain. In fact,
all Volvo wood inlays use real wood. Inlays are also available in real aluminium and if you
choose Volvo’s genuine leather, it’s nice to know a safer chrome-free process is used to
cure it so beautifully.

practicality. Simply folding down one or both of the 60/40-split rear-seat backrests
can increase the boot’s 404-litre capacity. For longer items, the height-adjustable
front passenger seat folds down flat.

Our journey towards a better environment started already in the early 70’s. Then
we were among the first carmakers to acknowledge the environmental downside
of cars and to do something about it. Since then we are constantly innovating to
reduce the environmental impact of the cars and how we make them.
Today’s biggest challenge is, of course, to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions that
cause climate change. Today we offer one of the premium segments strongest ranges

Fast responding af ter a cold star t, Volvo’s advanced emission control
eliminates between 95 and 99% of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons
and nitrogen oxides from petrol engine exhaust ga ses. The Volvo
turbodiesels feature a p articulate filter that rem oves about 95% of
the particles from the diesel exhaust gases.
Fuel-saving design.
To reduce energy-loss from wind and roll resistance, we utilise
advanced aerodynamic design, light-weight materials and low-friction
technology. Togeth er wit h state-of-the-art engine technology, this
lowers your CO2emissions and helps you travel fur ther on less fuel.

Can cheating the wind be good for it? We think so. Design and drivetrain modifications significantly
reduce air-resistance and minimise CO2emissions. For example, a special front grille, spoilers, wheel
deflectors, aerodynamic wheels (15"or 16"Libra) and a lowered chassis help reduce drag. And Volvo’s
state-of-the-art 240 Nm common rail turbodiesel, Start/Stop technology, brake energy regeneration,
heightened gear ratios, optimised electro-hydraulic power steering, newly-developed transmission oil
(that reduces internal resistance), and energy-saving tires – all help lower CO2emissions significantly.
