( ) Install J2 (MIC IN) - 8 Pin Male Mic Connector on back of case
( ) Install J3 (MIC OUT) - 5 Pin DIN connector on the back of the
case. (This will require 2 screws, 2 lock washers and 2 nuts)
( ) Install slide potentiometers R15,R16, R17 (100K) and R18 on front
panel. Orient potentiometers as shown in Figure 1.
( ) Install plastic LED holders on front panel.
( ) Install switch S1 on front panel - Power switch.
( ) Install switch S2 on front panel - Noise gate switch.
( ) Install switch S3 on front panel - Equalizer on off.
( ) Install Orange (or yellow)LED LED3 in holder (as shown in figure 1 .)
( ) Install Green LED LED1 in holder (as shown in figure 1 .)
( ) Install Red LED LED2 in holder (as shown in figure 1.)
( ) Pre-wire Rotary switch S4 as shown below and install on rear
of case. The wires going to J2, J3 and J4 should be cut to 3.5
inches. They can be trimmed when the switch is installed in
the case and wired. Pre-wiring the switch, with insulated wire,
makes wiring it significantly easier. (2 center posts on S4 wired later)
( ) Install the pre-wired switch S4 - Mic Select. Pay attention to
the alignment of the switch (per the figure 1). Install the round
knob so the center position of the switch has the knob align
to K (Kenwood)
ALL PARTS ARE NOW MOUNTED ON THE CASE
The following 3 pages are instructions for installing the
Equalizer/Noise gate hardware in the case. Refer to
figure 1 to determine the location and orientation of the parts.

Wire the rest of the Unit per figure 1. C7 and C13 are .1 uf
Monolithic Ceramic Capacitor (104 - yellow or blue). They are
in bag #2, Env #5
( ) . Wire S4 to J2,J3 and J4. Make sure J2 is oriented correctly.
( ) . Wire R26 a 2.2K ohm resistor (Red- Red -Red) to LED1 and to switch S2
as per figure 1 on page 5.
( ) . Wire the bare wire connections to R15 thru R18 to the case,
LED2, LED3, S2,S3,J4 and J5.
( ) . Wire S2 to R18.
( ) . Wire S4 to J5
( ) . Wire J1, flat ribbon cable per Figure 1 The pinout of J1 is below
NOTE WIRE NUMBERS PRINTED ON FLAT IBBON CABLE BELOW
( ) Install the shielded cable, per figure 1 and the .1 uf monolithic
capacitors. Check your wiring against the wiring diagram in Figure 1.
( ) The unit should now be wired. Install the 4 threaded
spacer on the P.C. Board. Use screws and lock washers.
do not tighten all the way. (Do not ground spacers to the board)
( ) Install the board to the base of the case. Align the board so that
the 2 potentiometers mounted on the bottom of the board may
be adjusted thru the holes in the bottom. Attach the board to
the case with 4 screws and washers.
( ) Install the shorting block, through the mic power jumper hole,
onto one of the two pins.

( ) Plug the ribbon cable into J1. Make sure the Dip cable is
plugged such that Pin 1 of the cable plug goes into pin one of
the DIP socket on the board. Do not plug any Integrated
circuit chips in at this time.
( ) Plug the power transformer into the wall and the Male Din
connector from the transformer into the Pwr input of the
unit. Turn power on. The Yellow LED above the power on
switch should go on. Turn the power off before installing the
integrated circuits chips
( ) Plug Integrated circuit chip 74LS123 into U3.
( ) Plug Integrated circuit chip 74HC00 into U2.
( ) Plug integrated circuit chip TL074CN or JRC2060D into U1.
( ) Plug integrated circuit chip 74HC4053 into socket U4.
( ) YOUR UNIT SHOULD BE READY TO TEST. CHECK FIGURE 1
AGAIN TO ASSURE IT IS WIRED CORRECTLY.
( ) Attach the bottom to the top of the case using the 4 screws
supplied with the unit
( ) Attach the feet and Serial Number label to the bottom of the case.
