that, if not avoided, could result in death or

exposed when guards are removed. It may
also be used to alert against unsafe practices.
CAUTION - Indicates a potentially hazardous situation
that, if not avoided, may result in minor or

Caution: this kit is constructed of heavy gauge steel, be sure to use caution moving and installing the kit, avoid
dropping or pinching body parts on corners and edges of the kit.
Wallenstein PTO Hydraulic Pump Kit is required when mounting a Wallenstein backhoe on a tractor which has no or limited
hydraulics and will provide a 7GPM ow sufcient to power the back hoe. The PTO62 is used when mounting a GX620
Wallenstein backhoe, and the PTO72 is used when mounting a GX720, GX920 or GX920XT Wallenstein backhoe.
The PTO kits consists of a PTO mounted hydraulic pump, hydraulic tank with return hose and ttings and hardware in a
parts baggie.
There are 2 PTO Hydraulic Pump Kits:
PTO62 PTO Hydraulic Pump Kit - 7GPM - 9.4 Litres (2.5 gal) hydraulic tank - ts GX620
PTO72 PTO Hydraulic Pump Kit - 7GPM - 12.3 Litres (3.25 gal) hydraulic tank - ts GX720, GX920, GX920XT
Ensure you have the correct kit for your model backhoe.
Both PTO Hydraulic Pump Kits install in the same way for all models Installation and setup instructions apply to both kits
unless specied. Please read this manual thoroughly.
The PTO Hydraulic Pump Kit comes partially assembled. Illustrations show typical assembly. This assembly procedure is
one time only. Once assembled only regular maintenance and minor adjustments are required.
Tighten all hardware using the “Bolt Torque” chart at the back of this manual unless otherwise specied.
Tighten all hydrualic connections using the “Hydraulic Fitting Torgue” chart at the back of this manual unless otherwise
specied.
Accessory Installation Instructions
PT062 & PT072 HYDRAULIC PUMP KIT
Always wear the appropriate safety gear when installing
this kit or working around the machine. This includes but is
not limited to:
• Hard hat for protection to the head.
• Safety glasses protection for the eyes.
• Gloves for hand protection.
• Safety shoes with slip resistant soles and steel toes.
The #PTO62 / PTO72 kit comes partially assembled, you will need ATF uid and tools to complete the installation.
Before you start, you’ll need:
• Work bench, wrenches and sockets
• Dexron III ATF uid:
• PTO62: 9.4 Litres (2.5 gal)
• PTO72: 12.3 Litres (3.25 gal)
• Model specic instructions that came
with the backhoe mounting kit to
complete the hookup.
• Funnel and rags.

1. Before starting, clear the area of bystanders,
especially small children.
2. On the workbench, attach the 1/2” elbow con-
nector to the lter head. (pre-installed on PTO72)
3. Next attach the 3/4” barbed hose tting to the
tank.
4. Tighten connections as specied in the Hydrau-
lic Fitting Torque Chart.
5. Slip the gear clamps over the suction hose,
6. Attach one end of the suction hose to the tank
and to the other end to the input of the PTO
pump, and tighten gear clamps.
Mounting
Installation Instructions:
Ensure the Backhoe and the area around it is clean and free of debris, resting on dry level
ground, and detached from the tractor. Leave enought working space between the tractor and
backhoe.
Install the Reservoir
7. Prepare to install the reservoir tank by en-
suring the backhoe frame is clean and clear
and the hydraulic hoses are out and won’t be
caught behind the tank.
8. Mount the oil reservoir to the backhoe frame:
• Move the tank into position.
• Install bolts thru rectangular holes in the
foot rest into the tank mounting holes.
• Adjust the tanks position as required
then tighten mounting bolts. (see torque
chart)

Couplers Removed
WARNING
High Pressure Fluid Hazard
To prevent serious injury or death from high
pressure uid:
• Ensure connections are secure.
• Tighten to torque specication chart.
• Shut off the engine, wear proper hand and
eye protection when searching for leaks
7. Remove the couplers from the hose
ends.
8. Determine which hose is the pressure
line and which is the return line. The
illustration shows the general routing of
the hoses.
• The pressure line is always connect-
ed to the right side of the valve con-
trol at the “P” connection point (it is
embossed on the valve body, upside
down).
• The return line is always connected
at the left hand side of the valve
body at the “T” connection point (it is
embossed on the valve body, upside
down).
9. Apply thread sealant to the hose threads
to prevent leaks.
10.Connect the input (high-pressure) line to
the pump outlet, then connect the return
(low-pressure) line to the lter head.
11. Tighten connections as specied in the
Hydraulic Fitting Torque Chart.

12.Remove the ller breather cap and add
the Dexron III ATF uid to the reservoir:
• PTO62: 9.4 Litres (2.5 gal)
• PTO72: 12.3 Litres (3.25 gal)

Pump Installed
Positioned
The Backhoe & tractor should always be located on a level, dry area that is free of debris and other
foreign objects. When attaching the hydraulic pump to the tractor, follow this procedure:
Mount the Pump
1. Make sure that all bystanders, especially
small children are clear of the work area.
2. Make sure there is enough room and
clearance to safely back up to the Back-
hoe.
3. Stop close enough so the length of the
hydraulic lines allow the pump to be
mounted to the tractor. Set the park
brake and remove the ignition key.
4. Retract the lock collar and slide the pump over the PTO shaft. Be sure the collar seats in the
groove and locks. Tug on the pump to ensure the collar has locked..
5. Attach the anchor chain to a part of the frame to prevent the pump from turning.
6. Test the installation: start the tractor, set park brake and engage the PTO. Set the throttle at
mid-range.
7. This will power up the hydraulic system on the backhoe, Carefully move a control to ensure
the system is functioning.
Note: any extra length hy-
draulic line: form lines into
loops and secure with tape,
clips or plastic ties.
WARNING
Collision Hazard
During setup, when operating
tractor, boom or stabilizers, ensure the
area is clear of bystanders and operator
is safely positioned. Run the engine at
low RPM and proceed cautiously.

Backhoe Mounting
The Backhoe should always be located on a level, dry area that is free of debris and
other foreign objects. When attaching the Backhoe to the machine, follow this procedure:
1. Make sure that all bystanders, especially
small children are clear of the work area.
2. Make sure there is enough room and clear-
ance to safely back up to the Backhoe.
3. Carefully use the dipper arm/stabilizer
legs to tilt the bracket / backhoe on an
angle, so that the bottom attach points
line up with the attach points on the trac-
tor / skidsteer.
4. Follow the model specic instructions
that came with the backhoe mounting kit
to complete the hookup.
WARNING
Collision Hazard
During setup, when operating
the boom and stabilizers, ensure the
area is clear of bystanders and operator
is safely positioned. Run the engine at
low RPM and proceed cautiously.
WARNING
High Pressure Fluid Hazard
To prevent serious injury or death from high pres-
sure uid:
• releive pressure on the system before repairing
or adjusting.
• wear proper hand and eye protection when
searching for leaks

Hydraulic Maintenance
Every 100 hrs or annually drain and replace uid:
1. Move controls to neutral or off position, stop engine, remove ignition key
and wait for all moving parts to stop before servicing, repairing or main-
taining.
2. Allow the machine to cool before changing the uid. Hot uid can cause
burns if it contacts exposed skin. It is best to change uid while the ma-
chine is warm to keep the contaminants in suspension.
3. Place a pan under the uid reservoir.
4. Find the drain under the reservoir and remove the drain socket plug.
5. Drain the uid and replace the socket plug in the drain.
6. Find the ller cap on the top of the reservoir, ll the reservoir with Dexron III
ATF uid:
• PTO62: 9.4 Litres (2.5 gal)
• PTO72: 12.3 Litres (3.25 gal)
7. Run the machine for 1-2 minutes while operating cylinder and check uid
level and leaks at the drain.
8. Fluid level should be approximately 1" (25 mm) from the top of the tank
9. Dispose of the old or any spilled uid in an approved container.
Drain Socket
Drain
Every 100 hrs or annually remove and clean the lters:
Fluid Return Filter:
1. Find the uid return on the top of the reservoir, and remove the 3 screws on
the lter cover.
2. Remove the cover and pull out the lter.
3. With the screen in hand, simply wash it out with diesel fuel or varsol. Once
clean inspect the lter mesh for any holes, perforation, rust or tears.
4. Replace the clean lter into the tank, install and secure the lter cover.
Suction Strainer:
1. Find the suction outlet near the bottom of the uid tank.
2. Remove the suction hose and adaptor and pull out the strainer.
3. With the strainer in hand, simply wash it out with diesel fuel or varsol. Once clean inspect the strainer mesh for any
holes, perforation, rust or tears.
4. Replace the clean strainer into the tank, install and secure the suction hose and adaptor.

METRIC TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
CHECKING BOLT TORQUE
The tables shown below give correct
torque values for various bolts and
capscrews. Tighten all bolts to the
torques specied in chart unless oth-
erwise noted. Check tightness of bolts
periodically, using bolt torque chart as a
guide. Replace hardware with the same
strength bolt.
Torque gures indicated above are valid
for non-greased or non-oiled threads
and heads unless otherwise specied.
Therefore, do not grease or oil bolts or
capscrews unless otherwise specied in
this manual. When using locking ele-
ments, increase torque values by 5%.
* Torque value for bolts and capscrews
are identied by their head markings.

Tightening Flare Type Tube Fittings *
1. Check are and are seat for defects
that might cause leakage.
2. Align tube with tting before tighten-
ing.
3. Lubricate connection and hand tight-
en swivel nut until snug.
4. To prevent twisting the tube(s), use
two wrenches. Place one wrench
on the connector body and with the
second tighten the swivel nut to the
torque shown.
• The torque values shown are based
on lubricated connections as in
reassembly.
