IP Camera Installation and Setup Guide

T is guide will elp to layout and install IP cameras to a new XL PLUS NVR System or to
simply add more cameras to an already existing system. Connecting a camera for t e first time s ould
be done wit a s ort cable and wit t e camera unmounted w ere it is easy to diagnose any issues.
Below is an example of a Surveillance System connected to a locations network. T is is t e first
option for connecting t e system. (Devices and configurations may vary dependent on location)

Initial Installation
By now t e XL PLUS System s ould be running wit just your monitor, keyboard, mouse, and
possibly an internet connection. All connections s ould use CAT5e or CAT6 cabling. T e following
steps will get us going.
1. Connect a PoE Switc to a Network Adapter on t e XL PLUS
2. C ange t e Network Adapter to t e c osen IP sc eme
3. Connect a camera to t e PoE Switc
4. Configure and add t e camera using t e following instructions
5. Disconnect t e configured camera and label it.
6. Repeat steps 3-5 until all cameras are added
7. Mount cameras and configure cameras motion / ot er settings
To c ange t e camera's NIC to t e proper IP sc eme go to System Settings ( ). T en go to
Network Settings. C ange t e Network Adapter t at t e cameras will be on to a sc eme not associated
wit anyt ing on your locations network. (ie. 192.168.4.100). Eac camera will now be set to t is
sc eme c anging t e last octet for eac camera (192.168.4.xxx).
Adding A New Camera
Once t e camera is connected you s ould see lig ts on t e port of t e PoE Switc t at t e
camera is connected to. T ese let you know t e switc is receiving communication. T e cameras will
take a minute to power on before we can add t em. Once it is powered on, follow t ese steps.
1. Go to Device Management ( ) at t e bottom of t e screen.
2. Select IPC Search at t e bottom rig t.
3. Make sure t e camera's network adapter is selected and t e Device Type is NV series IPC. If no
camera s ows up it pdate Device List.
4. Click t e new camera and edit t e IP Address to matc t e camera network (ie. 192.168.4.151)
Also c ange t e NetGate Address to matc (ie. 192.168.4.1)
5. C ange t e Login Password to “admin123” and it Modify Device Configuration
6. Hit pdate Device List and click t e camera again (it s ould now ave t e new IP Address we
assigned to it)
7. C ange t e Login Password to “admin123” and it Add Device at t e bottom and it Exit
8. T e camera s ould now be added in t e Device Management and ave Success for Connect
Status.
9. Hit Exit and drag t e camera from t e Device List on t e rig t into a window you would like to
display t e video to make sure it is working properly.
10. Repeat for eac camera.

Configuring An IP Camera For Recording
T e first step to setting up motion recording is to make sure t e software is setup for it. To enter
t e Record Schedule Setting go to System Settings ( ) t en Record Schedule Setting on t e left.
Here we can select w en we would like t e cameras to record on motion or a sc edule. By default t e
system is setup to do Motion Rec. ( ) in Purple. To c ange t is select eit er Normal Rec. ( )
in Green or Normal&Motion Rec. ( ) in Blue t en drag t e cursor w ile left clicking over t e time
frame you would like to set. Normal Recording does recording full time and Normal&Motion
Recording is full time recording but s ows you w ere t ere is motion on t e playback time line. Below
is an example of a camera recording on motion from 8am-5pm t en recording Normal&Motion from
5pm-8am.
After t e record sc edule is set or if you just wis to leave everyt ing on motion we can enter t e
camera's settings to setup it's motion properties. To do t is click t e Channel Setting ( ) button at
t e bottom of t e main screen. Go to Motion Detection on t e left. Here t e c eck box for Enable
s ould be c ecked. Once it is c ecked you will see a yellow outline around your video. T is will flas
red w en motion is detected. To set t is area you can click t e Clear All button and draw your own
area on t e video. To adjust t e Sensitivity use t e scroll bar next to it. Once complete you can copy
t ese settings to ot er cameras or set t em up individually. Hit Apply&Save t en Exit. T is camera is
now setup for motion recording! In t e main screen under t e device list you s ould see t is running
man ( ) w en motion is detected and ( ) w en it is recording on sc edule. If it is not recording
t ere will be no icon next to t e camera name.
