Once it has been proven that the Wavestore Topaz can ping the camera, it is time to select the
desired model. Normally this means selecting HTTP from the Type drop-down box and the camera
make from the Camera drop-down box. The only exceptions to this are that for Mobot x cameras
you can choose MxPEG from the Type menu and for Arecont cameras you can choose the
Arecont type.
If your camera of choice is not listed, it may still be possible to use the camera. In this case you
should choose Type = HTTP, and Camera = Custom. Then try to look up the camera details on
our Knowledgebase page which can be found at this address:

The next step is to enable the camera for viewing by ticking the
enabled box near the camera number as shown on the left. This
enables the camera for viewing but not for recording.
To enable recording, tick the enabled box at the top-right of the
screen under Pr me as shown in the diagram below.
Now we need to allocate some storage to the camera. There are
two methods for doing this:
1. Auto delete by s ze - You can specify an exact
amount of storage you wish to allocate to the camera.
2. Auto delete by t me – You can specify a desired
maximum recording time and allow Wavestore to
automatically assign storage.
Auto-delete by t me is recommended as it automatically
adjust the storage allocation, providing the same length of
recordings for all cameras on any one storage disk.
To set up auto delete by t me, ensure that auto delete by
s ze is not ticked and that auto delete by t me s. Then
choose the des red d sk from the d sk drop-down box. Then
just choose the desired maximum number of days recording.
The next thing to consider is the recording rate. This specifies the maximum number of pictures per
second that will be recorded for the current camera. If the camera actually sends fewer than this
quantity, the Wavestore Topaz will simply record whatever is received. For example, you can
specify a recording rate of 25 pictures per second, but the camera might only be sending 15
pictures per second, in which case the Wavestore will just record those 15 pictures per second. If
the camera outputs 30 pictures per second, then the Wavestore will only record 25 per second if
that is the value specified as the recording rate.
If you wish to add another camera, simply click Add in the IP Camera panel and repeat this
process.
The camera is now configured so close the screen by clicking the X in the top-right corner of the
screen and say Yes to save the changes. Close the Setup screen by clicking X again. Finally,
logout and login again. You should now be back at the main screen and able to view the camera.
