possible
results
from
the
individualcomponents
of
a HiFisystem,
you
needoptimum
connections.
lt's
not
somuch
the
cable
you
use
which
is
decisive
butthe
connectors,
since
itis
at
the
contact
points
between
cableand
system
that
mosttransmission
loss
occu
rs.
For
this
reason,
WBT
has
developed
plugs
and
jack
sockets
for
audio
systems
tarsuperior
to the standard
types
available.
WBTquality
connectors
are
made
from
a
special
OFCcopper
alloy
and
ideally
pro-
tected
against
corrosioqr
by z!-qarat
gol"dplaling.

ensures
constant
dielectriC
properties.
WBTRCA
plugs
and
jacks
are
matched
for
a
unified
surge
impedanceof

6ohms
which
qualified
them
to form
adapted
connections
whenthesystem
cable
WBT-2016
is used.
All WBT RCA connectors
arefree
fromferro-
magnetic
materials.
Even
more
important
than
the
material
used
are
the
mechanlcal
pro-
perties
of
aconnector.
The
decisrve
factor
is
ahighand
reliable
contact
pressure,
created
forexample by clamping
or spring
mechanisms:

precision-turned
part
alonecan

ill
these
requirements.
A
connec-
tor
turned
fromsolid
material
(tolerance
guarantees
extremely
lowand
reliably
reproducible
contact
resi-
stance.
Thecontact
quality
of conventional
RCA
pin-plug
connectors
is un-
deniably
poor.
Thereason
for
this
is
a
lack
ofstandardisation.
WBT
trial
measurements
have
shown,
for
example,
that
thediameter
ofthe
out-
side
contacts
of RCA
jack
sockets
varies
from
7.95
to 8.55
mm
!An
ideal
pin-plug
connector
can
theretore
never
be
a pertect
ttt
but
must
beadaptable.
This
problem
wassolvedby
WBT
longago:
O Due
to
the
(patented)
collet
chucking
device,
which
works
in
the
same
way
as
thechuck
ofapower
drill,
WBT
coaxial
plugs
canbe
adjusted
tofitphono
jacks
ofall
kinds.
The
lamellasoftheouter
plug
contact
canbe
narroweddown
to
fit
any
jack
socket
byturning
the
plug
sleeve.
Thisnot.onlyensures
uniformly
highcontact
pres-
sure
butalso
clampsthe
plug
firmly
to
the
jack
socket.
O The
spring
path
ofthe
fourfold
slotted
insidecontact
is
such
that
the necessarycontact
pressure
is reliablycreated
evenin the
widestof
jacks.
O Intelligentcontact
arrangement:
when
WBT
plugs
are
used
in
conjunction
with
WBT
coaxial
jacks,
this
ensures
that
theoutside
conductors
areactivated
before
the
inside
conductors,
thus
preven-
tihg
unwahteci
voitage
peaks.

Handling
The
plugs
shouldonly
be
inserted
and
withdrawn
inrelaxed
con-
dition:
toachievethis,
first
twist
thesleeve
slightlyonthe
plug(the
sleevecone
does
not
yet
narrow
the
lamella
head
of
the
plug).
Insert
the
plug
into
the
jack.
In
orderto
fix
the
plug,
turnthe
plug
slee-
vein
thedirectionofthe
cable.
Beforewithdrawing
the
plug,
turn
the
plug
sleeve
in
thedirectionof
the
jack
to
release
thecollet
chuck
mechanism
until
the
plug
canbeeasily
pulled
outofthe
jack.
