4. Feedthefeedpipe&lineinthroughthefirst
eyeletandoutofthesecondeyelet.
5. Removethefeedpipeandputinasafeplace.
6. Pullthenylonlineuntilyouhavetwoequal
lengths.
7. Nowrotatethefeed/bumpknobCLOCKWISE,to
windthenylonlineintothehead.
8. Stopwhenyouhave150mmofnylonline
protrudingfrombotheyelets.
WARNING
Excessivevibrationofthemetalbladeindicatesithasnotbeeninstalledcorrectly.
Stoptheengineimmediately,checkthebladeinstallationandre-installcorrectly.Anincorrectlyinstalledblade

GENERALUSE
WARNING
Priortousingthemachine,ensureallhardware(bolts,screws&nuts)aresecurelytightened.
• Operatethetriggerwithyourrighthand&holdtheD-Handlewithyourlefthand.(WEBC26Only)
• Operatethetriggerontherighthandleandholdthelefthandleforstability(WEBC33&WEBC43)
• Thetriggerincreases&decreasesthepowerfromtheenginetotherevolution/reciprocationofthe
attachment.
WORKINGPLAN
• Limittheamountoftimetheproductisusedcontinuouslytoamaximumof40minutespersession.
• Leavethemachinetorestbetweensessionsforbetween10-20minutes.
• Totalamountofworkperformedperdaywiththemachine,shouldbelimitedto120minutesmaximum.
• Continuoususeofthemachinecancause“RepetitiveStressInjury(RSI)”.Ifyoufeeldiscomfort,rednessor
swellingofyourhandsandfingersoranyotherbodypart,consultyourdoctor.
• Checklocalregulationsforsoundlevelandhoursofoperationconstraints.
• Nevertransportthemachinewhilsttheengineisrunning.

CUTTINGWITHANYLONHEAD
• Alwayskeepafirmgripwithbothhandsduringoperation
• Themachineshouldbeheldinacomfortableposition,withthetriggerhandleathipheight.Adjustthe
harnesstosuit.
• Maintainafirmfootingincasethemachinehitsasolidobject&kicksback.
• Cuttallgrassfromthetopdowntopreventgrasswrappingaroundtheshafthousing&nylonhead,which
maycauseoverheating&damage.Ifgrassbecomesentangled,turnofftheengineandremovethegrass.
ThelinetrimmernylonheadrotatesinanANTI-CLOCKWISEdirection.Theknife,locatedontheleftsideofthe
guard,ensuresyournylonlineisoperatingatthecorrectlengthforoptimumtrimming.
NOTE:Nylonlinewhichistoolongortheincorrectdiameter(Recommended2.5mm),willcauseexcesswear
totheengineandclutchcomponentsandfailurecausedbythisactionwillnotbecoveredbythe
manufacturer’swarranty.
Itisrecommendedthattheheadistilted,sothenylonlinecuttingcircleismovingawayfromtheuserand
guard/shield.Thiswillenabledebristobethrownawayfromtheuser.
TRIMMING
Thisisfeedingthetrimmercarefullyintothematerialyouwishtocut.Tilttheheadslowlytodirectdebris
awayfromyou.Ifcuttinguptoabarrieri.e.afence,wallortree,approachfromananglewhereanydebris
ricochetingoffthebarrierwillfly awayfromyou.Movethenylonlineheadslowlyuntilthegrassiscutrightup
tothebarrier,butdonotjam(over-feed)thenylonlineintothebarrier.
Iftrimminguptoawiremeshorchainlinkedfence,becarefultofeedonlyuptothefence.Ifyougotoofar,
thelinecouldbecomeentangledorsnapoffaroundthefence.
Trimmingcanbedonetocutthroughweedstemsoneatatime.Placethetrimmerlineheadnearthebottom
oftheweed,neverhighup,whichcouldcausetheweedtochatterandcatchtheline.Ratherthancutthe
weedrightthrough,justusetheveryendofthelinetowearthroughthestemslowly.
SCALPINGANDEDGING
Bothofthesearedonewiththelineheadtiltedatasteepangle.
Scalpingisremovingtopgrowthleavingtheearth bare.
Edging istrimmingthegrassbackwhereithasspreadoverapathordriveway.
Duringedgingandscalping,holdtheunitatasteepangleandinapositionwherethedebrisandanydislodged
dirtandstoneswillnotcomebacktowardsyou,evenifitricochetsoffthehardsurface.

SCYTHINGWEEDS
Thisiscuttingbyswingingthebladeinalevelarc.Itcanquicklyclearareasoffieldgrassandweeds.Scything
shouldnotbeusedtocutlarge,toughweedsorwoodygrowths.
Scythingcanbedoneinbothdirections,orjustinonewaywhichresultsinthedebrisbeingthrownawayfrom
you.Thisisdonebyusingthesideofthebladethatitisrotatingawayfromyou.Tiltthebladedownwards
slightly,onthissameside.Youwillbehitbysomedebrisifyouscytheinbothdirections
NOTE:THEMETALBLADEISREVERSIBLE.DONOTSHARPENTHEMETALBLADE,ANUNEVENBLADEWILL
CAUSEEXCESSIVEVIBRATION.

FUELING
Fuel&itsvaporsareveryflammable.Donotuseorfuelthemachinenearaflame,sparksorwhilesmoking.
Allowtheenginetocoolformorethan3minutes,beforere-fueling.Neverfuelthemachinewiththeengine
running.Fueltheengineatleast3metresawayfromyourworkarea.Alwaysfuelyourmachineoutdoors.

Tokeepfuelfresh,werecommendyouuseSURE-STARTFUELADDITIVE(HP-199)fromHandyParts.Afuel
additiveaddedtoyourfuelatthetimeofmixture,willhelpmakeyourmachineeasiertostart,extendthe
shelflifeofyourfuelmixtureforuptotwoyears,keepsthecarburettor&engineclean,plusreducesemissions
andincreasesfueleconomy.A250mlbottleofSURE-STARTFUELADDITIVEwilltreat25litresoffuelmix
Onlyuse2-strokeaircooledengineoil.DONOTUSEautomotiveormarineoil.
ItisrecommendedthatyouuseaFuelMixingBottle,toensurethecorrectfuelmixtureisusedwithyour
machine.WerecommendHANDYPARTS–FUELMIXINGBOTTLE(HP-120).
IMPORTANT
Ensurethatanystoredpetrol/oilmixtureisclearlymarkedinaseparateappropriatecanisterfora
maximumof4-6weeksifnotmixedwithafueladditive.Ifthemachineisnotgoingtobeusedforalong
period,drainthemixturefromthefueltank,starttheengineanddrainthecarburetorofanyremainingfuel.
(SeeMaintenanceforfurtherinstruction).Disposeofanyunwanted2-strokemixtureatanauthorised
recyclingpoint.
FUELINGTHEMACHINE
Placethemachineontoasolidflatsurface,ensuringtheengineisnotrunning.
Unscrewthefuelcapslowlyandfillthefueltankwithyourfuelmixturetoamaximumof80%capacity.This
willallowthefueltanktoexpand.Fastenthefuelcaptightly,beingcarefulnottocross-thread.Thiswillalso
preventlooseningthroughvibrationduringuse.Wipeawayanyspillage,withanappropriatematerial.
Ifthemachinehascontinuedleaks,theproductshouldnotbestarted.Neverusethemachinewithdamaged
ignitioncableorsparkplugcap,asthereisariskofsparks.

ENGINESTARTING&STOPPINGPROCEDURE
STARTINGACOLDENGINE
1. Placethemachineontoaflat,firmsurface.
2. Keepthecuttingheadoffofthegroundandclearofanysurroundingobjects
3. Movethestopswitchto"START"position
4. Giveagentlepushontheprimerpumprepeatedly(7-10times)untilfuelcomesintotheprimerpump.
5. PulltheChokeLeveruptoclosethechoke
6. Whilstholdingthemachinedownwithyourlefthand,pulltheenginerecoilstarterropevigorouslyaway
fromtheengine,untiltheenginefires,butimmediatelycutsout.(Wecallthisafalsestart).
(DONOTLETTHERECOILSTARTERROPERETRACTBYITSELF,FEEDTHEROPEBACKINTOTHEHOUSING)
7. Pushthechokeleverdownwards(excessivecrankingwithchokeleverupwillcausetheenginetoflood,
makingitdifficulttostart.)
8. Whilstholdingthemachinedownwithyourlefthand,pulltheenginerecoilstarterropevigorouslyaway
fromtheengine,untiltheengineruns
9. Allowenginetowarmupforafewminutesbeforeusing.
STARTINGAWARMENGINE
1. Movetheswitchto"START"position
2. Ifthefueltankwasrundryonpreviousoperation,followsteps3-7ofcoldstartprocedure.
3. Whilstholdingthemachinedownwithyourlefthand,awayfromtheengineandpulltheenginerecoil
starterropevigorously,untiltheengineruns.

andsaferperformance.
MAINTENANCE
• Beforeeachuse,checkallnuts&boltsareinplaceandsufficientlytightened.
• Werecommendonlymanufactureroriginalpartsareusedwhenmaintainingthismachine.Failuretodoso
couldinvalidateyourmachineswarranty.
• Theenginemustbeswitchedoff,withthesparkplugcapremoved,beforethemachineisunassembled,
cleaned,servicedormaintained.
ADJUSTINGCARBURETOR
Donotadjustcarburetorunlessnecessary.Ifyouhavetroublewiththecarburetor,seeyourdealer.Improper
adjustmentmaycauseenginedamageandvoidthemachineswarranty.
SPARKPLUG
ChecktheSparkPlugafterevery10-15hoursofuse.
• RemovetheSparkPlugcap
• UsingtheSparkPlugSpannersupplied,removetheSparkPlugbyturningitanti-clockwise.
• Clean&adjusttheelectrodegapto0.6-0.7mm
• IftheSparkPlugisvisiblydamagedorworn,replaceimmediately(SeeSpecificationfordetails)
• Installthenew/cleanedSparkPlugtofingertightness,beforefullytighteningwiththespanner.
BLADESHARPENING
• Neverattempttosharpentheblade.Itisreversible,soshouldbeturnedoverwhenblunt.Theblademust
remainbalanced;anunbalancedbladewillcauseexcessivevibrationthroughthemachine.Alwayscheck
foranydamagebeforeeachuseandreplaceadamagedbladeimmediately,withanapproved
replacementpart.
CLEANING
AIRFILTER
Accumulateddustintheairfilterwillreduceengineefficiency,increasefuelconsumptionandallowabrasive
particlestopassintheengine.Remove&cleantheairfilterregularlytoensureoptimumperformance.
• Removetheairfiltercover,byreleasingthesecuringwingedscrewfromthefrontofthecover.
• Liftoffthecover.
• Removethespongeairfilterfromthehousing.
• Tapthefiltertoremovelightsurfacedust.
• HeavydepositsshouldbewashedoutoftheAirFilterinsoapywater.Allowthefiltertodrycompletely
beforerefitting.
FUELFILTER
• Thefuelsystemisfittedwithafilter.Itissituatedatthefreeendoffuelpipeandcanbepickedout
throughthefuelfillerneck,withapieceofhookedwireorsimilar.
• Checkthefuelfilterperiodically.Donotallowdusttoenterintothefueltank.Acloggedfilterwillcause
difficultyinstartingtheengineorabnormalitiesinengineperformance.
• Whenthefilterisdirty,replacethefilter.
• Whentheinsideofthefueltankisdirty,itcanbecleanedbyrinsingthetankoutwithpetrol.

STORAGE
Foryearsoftroublefreeservice,makesurethemachineiscleananddrybeforestoring.
• Beforestoring,cleanthemachinethoroughlyasindicatedwithinthecleaningsectionofthismanual.
• Storeinasafe,lockedprotectedareaduringsevereweatherandwintermonths.Avoiddirectsunlight.

Failuressuchasadifficultyinstartingtheengine,irregularityinfunctionsandabnormalityinperformancecan
normallybepreventedifcarefulattentionispaidtoalloperatinginstructionsandmaintenanceprocedures.
Shouldtheenginenotfunctionproperly,checkthefollowing?
• Thatthefuelsystemisingoodconditionandfuelisflowingtotheengine.
• Theignitionsystemisingoodconditionandthesparkplug,sparkscorrectly.
