STEP1-ENGINETOTHESHAFTTUBE(MAYNOTBENECESSARY)
Putengineandshafttubeonthegroundthenassembleasshown.
EnsuretheM6x30screwsaretightenedtopreventthemcominglooseduringoperation.
STEP2–HANDLEASSEMBLYTHPK27L
Adjusttheloophandletothemostcomfortablepositionfortheuser.
Jointheloophandletothemainshaft,usingthebottomclamp.
Tightenthehandlebolts,throughthehandle,bottomclampandsuppliednuts.
HANDLEASSEMBLYTHPK35CH
InsertbothhandlesintoHandleJointevenly.Ensurethetriggerassemblyison
yourright-handside.
Adjustthehandlejointtothemostcomfortablepositionfortheuser.
Adjustthehandlestoasuitableangle.
Tightenthehandlebolts,throughthehandle,bottomclampandsuppliednuts.
STEP3–THROTTLEWIREMOUNTING(MAYNOTBENECESSARY)
Passthethrottlewirethroughtheadjustingscrewonthecarburetor.
Movethecarburetorswiveltowardtheattachment.
Fitthetip(thickportion)ofthethrottlewireintotheholeintheswivel.
Closethecarburetorcoverbyfasteningthescrew.
STEP4–GUARDASSEMBLY
Jointhetwopartsofthecutterguardtogetherusingthescrewsandnutssupplied.
Fittheguardassemblytothedriveshafthousingusingbrackets,screwsandnuts.

STEP5–ENGINEWIRING(MAYNOTBENECESSARY)
Connectthe2leadwiresfromthethrottletriggertothecorresponding2wiresfromtheengine.
STEP6–HARNESS
WEPK27L
Placeyourrightarm,shoulderandheadintotheloopofthesingleharness.Theharnessshouldsitonyourleft
shoulderandsitacrossyourbody,withthehookclasp,sittingonyourrighthip.Adjustthelengthofthe
harnessaccordingly.Attach,withthehookclaspbeingplacedthroughtheHarnessPointontheshaftofthe
machine.

Passyourarmsthroughthestrapsasifputtingonacoat.Buckletheharnessatthefrontofyourbody.Setthe
shoulderpadsproperly.
CAUTION
Onlyusethequickreleasemechanisminanemergency!
Thedouble-shoulderharnesshasaquickreleasemechanismtoreleasetheharnessinstantly,inanemergency.
Pulltheharnessgripupwardtoseparatethehookfromtheharnesssothattheharnessisseparatedfromthe
trimmer.
Toreconnecttheharnesstothetrimmer,readjustthegripbypullingitandresetthehookring
STEP7–BUMPFEEDNYLONHEAD.
Matchtheholeinthesideofthecuttingattachmentguardwiththeholeinthesideofthegearhousing.
Theninserta4mmAllenkeyintotheholestostoptheclampmoving.
Undotheshaftnutbyturninginaclockwisewiththespannerprovided.
Inserttheupperclampandlowerclampintothegearhousing.
Rotatethenyloncuttingheadanti-clockwisebyhandtoattachittothegearhousing,untiltight.
RemovetheAllenkey.

STEP8-3TOOTHMETALBLADE
Matchtheholeinthesideofthecuttingattachmentguardwiththeholeinthesideofthegearhousing.
Theninserta4mmAllenkeyintotheholestostoptheclampmoving.
Undotheshaftnutbyturninginaclockwisewiththespannerprovided.
Removethebladecuttingattachmenttighteningnut,cupwasherandlowerblademountingwasherfromthe
gearhousing.
Fitthecuttingblade,ensuringitisseatedcorrectlyandlevel.Tightenthenutsecurelyinananti-clockwise
direction.Removethe4mmAllenkey.
Whennotinusestorethebladeinitsprotectivecasing.
WARNING
EXCESSIVEVIBRATIONOFTHEMETALBLADEINDICATESITHASNOTBEENINSTALLEDCORRECTLY.
STOPTHEENGINEIMMEDIATELY,CHECKTHEBLADEINSTALLATIONANDRE-INSTALLCORRECTLY.AN

DANGER
Allmodellinetrimmers&brushcutterscanthrowsmallstones,metalorsmallobjectsaswellasmaterial
beingcut.DonotallowanyonetoentertheoperatingDANGERZONEwithyou.Thedangerzoneisanarea
15metresinradius
InsistthatpersonsintheRISKZONEbeyondthedangerzoneweareyeprotectionfromthrownobjects.If
theunitmustbeusedwherethereareunprotectedpeople,operateatalowthrottlespeedtoreducethe
riskofthrownobjects.

GENERALUSE
WARNING
Priortousingthemachine,ensureallhardware(bolts,screws&nuts)aresecurelytightened.
• Operatethetriggerwithyourrighthand&holdtheD-Handlewithyourlefthand.(WEPK27LOnly)
• Operatethetriggerontherighthandleandholdthelefthandleforstability(WEPK35CH)
• Thetriggerincreasesanddecreasesthepoweroftheenginetotheattachment,increasingthe
revolution/reciprocationoftheattachment.
WORKINGPLAN
• Limittheamountoftimetheproductisusedcontinuouslytoamaximumof40minutespersession.
• Leavethemachinetorestbetweensessionsforbetween10-20minutes.
• Totalamountofworkperformedperdaywiththemachine,shouldbelimitedto120minutesmaximum.
• Continuoususeofthemachinecancause“RepetitiveStressInjury(RSI)”.Ifyoufeeldiscomfort,rednessor
swellingofyourhandsandfingersoranyotherbodypart,consultyourdoctor.
• Checklocalregulationsforsoundlevelandhoursofoperationconstraints.
• Nevertransportthemachine,whilsttheengineisrunning.

CUTTINGWITHANYLONHEAD
• Alwayskeepafirmgripwithbothhandsduringoperation
• Themachineshouldbeheldatacomfortableposition,withthetriggerhandleathipheight.Adjustthe
harnesstosuit.
• Maintainafirmfootingincasethemachinehitsasolidobject&kicksback
• Cuttallgrassfromthetopdowntopreventgrasswrappingaroundtheshafthousing&stronghead,which
maycauseoverheatinganddamage.Ifgrassbecomesentangled,stoptheenginecompletelyandremove
thegrass.
ThelinetrimmerheadrotatesinanANTI-CLOCKWISEdirection.Theknife,locatedontheleftsideoftheguard,
ensuresyournylonlineisoperatingatthecorrectlengthforoptimumtrimming.
Tofeedmorelinefromthehead,bumptheheadonthegroundandthelinewillautomaticallyexitthehead.
NOTE:Nylonlinewhichistoolongortheincorrectdiameter(Recommended2.4mm),willcauseexcesswear
totheengineandclutchcomponents,notcoveredbythemanufacturer’swarranty.
Itisrecommendedthattheheadistilted,sothenylonlinecuttingcircleismovingawayfromtheuserand
guard/shield.Thiswillenabledebristobethrownawayfromtheuser.
TRIMMING
Thisisfeedingthetrimmercarefullyintothematerialyouwishtocut.Tilttheheadslowlytodirectdebris
awayfromyou.Ifcuttinguptoabarriersuchasfence,wallortree,approachfromananglewhereanydebris
ricochetingoffthebarrier,willflyawayfromyou.Movethelineheadslowlyuntilthegrassiscutrightupthe
barrier,butdonotjam(over-feed)thelineintothebarrier
Iftrimminguptoawiremeshorchainlinkedfence,becarefultofeedonlyuptothefence.Ifyougotoofar,
thelinewillsnapoffaroundthefence.
Trimmingcanbedonetocutthroughweedstemsoneatatime.Placethetrimmerlineheadnearthebottom
oftheweed,neverhighup,whichcouldcausetheweedtochatterandcatchtheline.Ratherthancutthe
weedrightthrough,justusetheveryendofthelinetowearthroughthestemslowly.
SCALPINGANDEDGING
Bothofthesearedonewiththelineheadtiltedatasteepangle.
Scalpingisremovingtopgrowthleavingtheearthbare.
Edgingistrimmingthegrassbackwhereithasspreadoverapathordriveway.
Duringedgingandscalping,holdtheunitatasteepangleandinapositionwherethedebrisandanydislodged
dirtandstoneswillnotcomebacktowardsyou,evenifitricochetsoffthehardsurface.

CUTTINGWITHTHEMETALBLADE
• Alwayskeepafirmgripwithbothhandsduringoperation
• Themachineshouldbeheldatacomfortableposition,withthetriggerhandleathipheight.Adjustthe
harnesstosuit.
• Maintainafirmfootingincasethemachinehitsasolidobject&kicksback.
• Donotusethemetalbladenearfencing,posts,buildingsorotherimmoveableobjects.
• Bestresultsareobtainedifyoucutfromrighttoleft,inabroadsweepingmotion.
• Ifahardobjectisstruck,immediatelystopthemachineandinspectfordamage.

DONOTusetheputthemetalbladeintocontactwithUtilityWires,MetalStakes,Rubber,Masonry,Rocks,
Fences,andTrees.

SCYTHINGWEEDS
Thisiscuttingbyswingingthebladeinalevelarc.Itcanquicklyclearareasoffieldgrassandweeds.Scything
shouldnotbeusedtocutlarge,toughweedsorwoodygrowths.
Scythingcanbedoneinbothdirections,orjustinonewaywhichresultsinthedebrisbeingthrownawayfrom
you.Thisisdonebyusingthesideofthebladethatitisrotatingawayfromyou.Tiltthebladedownwards
slightly,onthissameside.Youwillbehitbysomedebrisifyouscytheinbothdirections
NOTE:THEMETALBLADEISNOTREVERSIBLE.DONOTSHARPENTHEMETALBLADE,ANUNEVENBLADE
WILLCAUSEEXCESSIVEVIBRATION.

FUEL&OILMIXTURE
Fuel&itsvaporsareveryflammable.Donotuseorfuelthemachinenearaflame,sparksorwhilesmoking.
Allowtheenginetocoolformorethan2minutes,beforere-fueling.Neverfuelthemachinewiththeengine
running.Fueltheengineatleast3metresawayfromyourworkarea.Alwaysfuelyourmachineoutdoors.

• Onlyuse2-strokeaircooledengineoil.DONOTUSEautomotiveormarineoil.
• ItisrecommendedthatyouuseaFuelMixingBottle,toensurethecorrectfuelmixtureisusedwithyour
machine.WerecommendHandyPartsitemHP-120.Thefuelmixtureshouldbeshakenpriortoenteringthe
machinefueltank.
• Mixonlythequantityyourequiretocompleteyourspecifictask.
• Unscrewthemachinefuelcapslowlyandfillthefueltankwithyourfuelmixturetoamaximumof80%
capacity.Thiswillallowforfueltankexpansion.
• Fastenthefuelcaptightly,beingcarefulnottocross-thread.Thiswillalsopreventlooseningthroughvibration
duringuse.
• Wipeawayanyspillage,withanappropriatematerial.
• Ifthemachinehascontinuedleaks,theproductshouldnotbestarted.Neverusethemachinewithdamaged
ignitioncableorsparkplugcap,asthereisariskofsparks.
IMPORTANT
ü Ensurethatanystoredpetrol/oilmixtureisclearlymarkedinaseparateappropriatecanisterforamaximum
of4-6weeks.
ü Ifthemachineisnotgoingtobeusedforalongperiod,drainthemixturefromthefueltank,starttheengine

ENGINESTARTING&STOPPINGPROCEDURE
BEFORESTARTTHEENGINE
Checkforloosescrewsandnutsandfillwithproperlymixedfuel.Placetheengineonstablegroundwiththe
enginestand(fueltank)andtheguardrestingontheground.
STARTINGACOLDENGINE
Pushtheprimingpump5times.
Fullyclosethechokelever.
SettheswitchtotheONposition.
Holdthetrimmershaftneartheenginefirmlyandpullthestarterstrongly.
(DONOTLETTHERECOILSTARTERROPERETRACTBYITSELF,FEEDTHEROPEBACKINTOTHEHOUSING)
Whenignitionisheard,resetthechokeandpullthestarter.
Warmuptheengineforabout3minutes.
Whentheenginehasstartedattheinitialignitionopenthechokelever
gradually.
STARTINGAWARMENGINE
Fullyopenthechokelever.
Pushtheprimingpump5times.
Holdthehandleanddepressthethrottletrigger.Releasethethrottletriggerwhilepushingthethrottlelock
buttononthehandle.
SettheswitchtotheIposition.
HoldthetrimmershaftneartheenginefirmlyandasinFig.17pullthestarterstrongly.
(DONOTLETTHERECOILSTARTERROPERETRACTBYITSELF,FEEDTHEROPEBACKINTOTHEHOUSING)
Iftheenginedoesnotstart,repeattheprocedureforstartingacoldengine.
CAUTION
Afterstartingtheengine,accelerateanddeceleratetheengineseveraltimesbyopeningandclosingthe
throttletrigger.Airinthecarburetorcausespooraccelerationorenginestoppage.

ENGINEDOESNOTSTART
Iftheenginedoesnotstartorflamesflowbackthroughtheexhaust,eventhoughyouhavepulledthestarter
manytimes,removeandcheckthesparkplug.
Ifthesparkplugisdry,nofuelhasbeenfedintothecylinder.Checkthefuelpipeandcarburetor.
Cleanorreplacethesparkplugiftheyarewetordirty.
Iffuelhasoverflowedintothecrankcase,removethesparkplug,openthethrottleandpullthestarter2or3
timestoremoveexcessfuelfromthecrankcase.

MAINTENANCE
• Beforeeachuse,checkallnuts&boltstobesuretheyaresufficientlytightened.
• Werecommendonlymanufactureroriginalpartsareusedwhenmaintainingthismachine.Failuretodoso

• Theenginemustbeswitchedoff,withthesparkplugcapremoved,beforethemachineisunassembled,
cleaned,servicedormaintained.
ADJUSTINGCARBURETOR
Donotadjustcarburetorunlessnecessary.Ifyouhavetroublewiththecarburetor,seeyourdealer.Improper
adjustmentmaycauseenginedamageandvoidwarranty.
SPARKPLUG
ChecktheSparkPlugafterevery10-15hoursofuse.
• RemovetheSparkPlugcap
• UsingtheSparkPlugSpannersupplied,removetheSparkPlugbyturningitanti-clockwise.
• Clean&adjusttheelectrodegapto0.6-0.7mm
• IftheSparkPlugisvisiblydamagedorworn,replaceimmediately(SeeSpecificationfordetails)
• Installthenew/cleanedSparkPlugtofingertightness,beforefullytighteningwiththespanner.
GEARHOUSINGLUBRICATION
Thegearhousinghasagreasingport.Removethegreasingportsscrewandfeedgreaseintotheport.Grease
theportafterevery20hoursofoperation.
GEARHOUSINGMOUNTINGSCREWS
Loosegearhousingfixingscrewsareverydangerous,eventhoughtheyhavecoverstopreventthemfrom
comingoff.Besuretocheckthembeforeoperatingthemachine.TightenthescrewssecurelywiththeAllen
keyprovidedwiththetrimmer.

BLADESHARPENING
Neverattempttosharpentheblade.Itisreversible,soshouldbeturnedoverwhenblunt.Theblademust
remainbalanced;anunbalancedbladewillcauseexcessivevibrationthroughthemachine.Alwayscheckfor
anydamagebeforeeachuseandreplaceadamagedbladeimmediately,withanapprovedreplacementpart.
ADJUSTINGTHETHROTTLECABLE
Adjustthethrottlecablelengthwiththeadjustingnut.IftheNyloncuttingheadrotatesevenafteryouhave
releasedyourhandfromthethrottletriggertoidletheengine,adjustthethrottlecablelength.Loosenthe
locknutandturntheadjustingnuttoadjustthecablelength.Turntheadjustingnutclockwisetolengthenthe
throttleandcounterclockwisetoshortenit.Tightenthelocknutafteradjustment.
CLEANING
Keepyourmachineclean.
Thoroughlycleanthemachineattheendofeachuse,payingparticularattentiontocuttingsinandaround
theguardandcuttingtool.
AIRFILTER
Accumulateddustintheairfilterwillreduceengineefficiency,increasefuelconsumptionandallowabrasive
particlestopassintheengine.Remove&cleantheairfilterregularlytoensureoptimumperformance.
Removetheairfiltercover,byreleasingthesecuringwingedscrewfromthefrontofthecover.
Liftoffthecover.
Removethefilterelementfromthehousing.
Whendirty,replacethefilter.
FUELFILTER
Thefueltankisfittedwithafilter.Itissituatedatthefreeendoffuelpipeinthefueltankandcanbepicked
outthroughthefuelfillerneck,withapieceofhookedwireorsimilar.
Checkthefuelfilterperiodically.Donotallowdusttoenterintothefueltank.Acloggedfilterwillcause
difficultyinstartingtheengineorabnormalitiesinengineperformance.
Whenthefilterisdirty,replacethefilter.
Whentheinsideofthefueltankisdirty,itcanbecleanedbyrinsingthetankoutwithpetrol.

STORAGE
Foryearsoftroublefreeservice,makesurethemachineiscleananddrybeforestoring.
Beforestoring,cleanthemachinethoroughlyasindicatedabove.
Storeindoorsorinasafe,lockedprotectedareaduringsevereweatherandwintermonths.
DONOTSTOREinanenclosedarea,wherefuelvaporscanreachanopenhotflame.
DONOTSTOREfuelinthemachine.Ensurefuelisremovedfromthefueltankandcarburetor.
Ifstoringforanextendedperiod,inspect,cleanandrepairthemachineifnecessary.Removeallfuelfromthe
fueltank.Starttheengine,thiswillremoveallfuelfromthecarburetorandfuellines.Removethesparkplug,
pourasmallquantityof2-strokeoilintothesparkplugholeofthecylinderandre-seatsparkplug.Storeina
clean,dry,dustfreearea.
DONOTSTOREfuelforlongerthan30days.Fuelcanbecomestaleandcausedamagetotheengine
carburetor,whichisnotcoveredbythemachinesmanufacturer’swarranty.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Failuressuchasadifficultyinstartingtheengine,irregularityinfunctionsandabnormalityinperformancecan
normallybepreventedifcarefulattentionispaidtoalloperatinginstructionsandmaintenanceprocedures.
Shouldtheenginenotfunctionproperly,checkthefollowing?
• Thatthefuelsystemisingoodconditionandfuelisflowingtotheengine.
• Theignitionsystemisingoodconditionandthesparkplug,sparkscorrectly.
• Compressionoftheengineisadequate.
FAILURETOSTART
• Correctlyfollowthestartingprocedure,notsettingthechokeleverorprimingtheenginecancausethe
enginetonotstart.
• Disposeoffuelfromthetank,particularlyifover30daysold.
• Ensurethatfuelisfreshandclean.
• Checkfuelfiltertoensureitisclean.(Replacefilterifnecessary).
• Makesureairfilterelementsareclean.
• Installanew,properlygappedsparkplug.
• Whenthereisserioustroublewiththeunit,donottrytorepairityourself,buthaveyourlocalapproved
servicedealerinspectitforyou.
