2.Safety instructions
2.1. Obligations and liabilities
Everyone who works with the LHD must know and follow the safety instructions contained
in the operating manual. The manufacturer is not liable for damage caused by failure to
observe the instructions.
The LHD is built according to recognised safety rules. Nevertheless if operating and safety
instructions are disregarded when used, risks may arise.
2.2. Basic safety instructions
This manual contains important instructions for using the LHD safety requirements. Danger
arises when the LHD is not used in accordance with the intended purpose, or if the LHD is
not in checked and maintained in accordance with instructions.
•The application of the LHD may be used only by authorized and trained personnel who are
familiar with all statutory provisions, safety and work rules in advance.
•Comply with the prescribed load capacity!
•Before lifting a building component always assure that no tools or other unmounted parts
are on the component.
•The transport of load must be always performed slowly and cautiously. A jerky loading is
not allowed.
•The load capacity which is given on Power Clamp is the maximal loading depending on the
use of the load chart in paragraph 3.2. The angles of the load directions in the
corresponding using cases must be respected.
•By hooking the Power Clamp the user must make sure that Power Clamp can be operated
in this way, that the user is not jeopardized either through the Power Clamp itself or
through the suspension element or the load.

Power Clamp
Page 5
•The use of Power Clamp for the transport of persons is forbidden.
•For the transport of load, the oscillating movements and the bumping against obstacles
must be avoid.
•Visual inspection before each use (defects, damage, completeness and whereabouts of all
moving parts, and adequate fluid)
•Comply with the prescribed maintenance and repair procedures.
•Use only original spare parts provided.
•It is strictly forbidden on the part of the customer / third party to make changes to the LHD
or its function, as well as to the technical documentation.
•Keep all of this documentation in accordance with the regulations and within reach of the
LHD. It must be possible to be checked for reference by each operator, as well as the
maintenance and repair personnel at any time.
•The accident prevention or safety regulations for the LHD of the respective country in
which Power Clamp is used, must be absolutely respected.
•In the case of malfunctions, the Power Clamp must be immediately taken out of operation.
•The contact of Power Clamp with corrosive medias must be prevented.
•Always protect the Power Clamp from moisture to avoid corrosion.
Always good store the Power Clamp in the provided carrying case kit in order to protect
him against damage and dirtying.

2.3. Workplace safety
The operator and the maintenance and service personnel have to know and comply with
the following safety instructions on operating the LHD at work.
•For the given maximal load capacities, the safety factors must be considered according to
EN13155:2009.
•Personal requirements: The LHD may only be installed, operated and maintained by
authorized, trained and qualified specialists or experts. The responsibilities of personnel for
operation and maintenance are clearly defined. The statutory occupational safety
regulations are established and have been implemented.
•Personal protective equipment: safety shoes, protective places, protective helmets, as well
as the correct and appropriate and expedient work wear. Long hair must be tied. Jewellery
(necklaces, rings, big watches) must hot be worn.
•Visual inspection according to the rules of the operating manual should be made before
each use of the LHD. Should anomalies occur stop operation in all cases and take the
appropriate steps (inform maintenance staff, in consultation with distribution)
•The workplace must be in clear view of the operator and in accordance with safe before
the LHD is used.
•Perform hear examination during the lifting process as far as possible. In the case of
"cracking noises", the load must be immediately put down on the floor and must be no
more lifted employing Power Clamp (risk of dissolving).
•The LHD should not be used outside the temperatures of -20° to +80°C. In case of extreme
conditions, you should confer with the manufacturer.
•To manufacture of the bore at the construction site is to ensure there is sufficient stability!

3.How to use
3.1. Correct using
The load handling device serves exclusively to lift glue-laminated, cross-laminated timber
and solid wood beams, made of spruce, fir, pine and larch. It can be lifted only one element
per lift. This intended use is specified in the following.
•Make a drilled hole of Ø40 with a minimal depth of 93mm, it is recommended, to use the
supplied drill bit for an accurate performing of the drilled hole.
•If the drilled hole is drilled with an end mill (joinery machine), the hole diameter must be
exactly controlled again.
•Minimum thickness of the woods 60 mm
•Introduce the Power Clamp D40-90 into the hole until the contact plate touches the
wooden surface.
•Align the hook in the direction of pull. ATTENTION: Not rotatable under load!
•Application only with dry wood, max. 20 % moisture content.
ATTENTION: If the surface of the bore is wet or filled with water, this bore must not be
used. TEST: Upon palpation the bore surface fingers must not become wet. Eventually
finish a new drill!

4.Inspection
4.1. Tests before first using
•Check delivery state!
•Before the first commissioning, the Power Clamp must undergo an inspection by the user.
•Make a visual check of damages, deficiencies and completeness!
•Tensioning and relieve the LHD however, without introducing it into the bore. After
releasing it must return to the starting position autonomously.
4.2. Daily check before using
•Make a visual check!
•Check all components for signs of wear, cracks and deformation.
•It must be checked on dirtying, completeness and function (smooth running). The drilled
hole must be dry and clean.
•The Power Clamp must be clean, otherwise it must be only cleaned with compressed air.
•The complete Power Clamp must be checked on damages, cracks and deformations.
•The Power Clamp must open smoothly and close itself.
•In case of abnormalities, the use must be refrained in all cases.

5.Maintenance
5.1. Routine maintenance
•Pull the spiral rings from the shaft carefully (Attention to abrupt release of the compression
spring!).
•Immerse the shaft in a sufficient degreasing agent. You can now remove all impurities with
a brush.
•The remaining degreaser should be removed from the LHD with compressed air.
•Re-install all spiral rings once again (9 pieces)
•Perform an inspection
•The LHD must be always stored dry and clean.

5.2. Periodic maintenance
A periodical maintenance must be performed at least once a year, unless legally
differently regulated.
A qualified person is who has in reason of his professional education and experience
sufficient knowledge in the area of lifting accessories and is familiar with the applicable
industrial safety regulations, accident preventions regulations and generally recognised
rules of technology (for ex. trade association regulations, DIN standards, VDE
(Association of German Electrical Engineers) regulations, technical regulations of other
member states of the European Union or other Contracting States to the Agreement on
the European Economic Area) that he can assess the safe working condition of load
handling device.
