Turn Touch FABRIC-TEMP

2. Selector
Move the POWER SWITCH up.
You will have 8 seconds to touch
a FABRIC-TEMP Selector.
Within 8 seconds, touch the lower
part of a FABRIC-TEMP Selector. The
dryer will not operate if you touch the
upper half of the selector.
You may change the dryer setting
at any time dunng any cycle by
touching the desired selector or
selectors.
Touch a CUSTOM DRY
3. or TIMED DRY Control
IMPORTANT: If you do not touch a
CUSTOM DRY or TIMED DRY Control,
the dryer will automatically select
NORMAL DRY.
If this is not the dryness you.like,
you must touch one of the other
dryness Controls. See page 6 of this
book for more details.

1. Open the door, or...
2. Move POWER SWITCH to OFF.
l To check the load
1. Open door.
2. The dryer will remember where it
was in the cycle it you restart the
dryer within 2 minutes. Touch
selector with the blinking light to
restart.

Operating instructions
TheCUSTOM DRY Controls IMPORTANT: If a finished load is

After touching a FABRIC-TEMP
Selector, touch a CUSTOM DRY
Control selection that describes the
dryness you prefer for your load.

A sensor on the backof the dryer
drum “feels” the amount of moisture
in the load. When the dryness you
have selected is reached, the
dryer automatically shuts off.
You may need to try different
dryness settings to find the one
you like.
SUGGESTIONS
l For the first few loads, use NORMAL
DRY. When finished, check to see if
the load is as dry as you want.
l If the load is not as dry as you like,
use MORE DRY or VERY DRY the next
time.
l If the load is too dry, use LESSDRY
the next time. Use DAMP DRY if you
plan to iron the clothes when you
remove them from the dryer.
l Use a TIMED DRY setting for bed-
spreads, quilts, blankets and other
bulky loads. Start with 60 minutes.

OFF then back to ON.

different dryness setting for
the next similar load.
Cool down times
In all cycles, the heat shuts off
before the dryer stops tumbling. This
cool down time helps:
0 keep wrinkles from setting in.
l make handling the hot load items
easier.
TIMED DRY Control
After touching a FABRIC-TEMP
Selector, touch a TIMED DRY Control
setting for any load you want to dry
by time. Touch the number or min-
utes you want: 20,30.40,60, or 80.
This setting is good for very small
loads or large, bulky items.
Note the cool down times in each
cycle.

FINISH GUARD takes

every 5 minutes for up to 2’2 hours.
This rearranges and fluffs the load to
help prevent wrinkles that set in
when a load remains in a warmdryer.
Drying tips
FLUFF AIR Setting

FLUFFAIR gives you 20
minutes of tumbling
without heat. FINISH
fluff
air GUARD is automatically
selected with this cycle.
If you do not want FINISH GUARD
you must cancel it by touching it. The
light will go out.
This setting can be used to fluff
bedding, pillows and clothrng or to
dust drapes. It can also be used
to damp-dry heat sensitive items,.
such as plastic shower curtains,
rubber-backed rugs, plastic table-
cloths, foam rubber pillows, stuffed
toys, sneakers, etc.
If you want more than 20 minutes
of tumbling, touch the FLUFF AIR and
the TIMED DRY Control for the
amount of time you want (up to 80
minutes).
The indicator light will stay on as
long as FINISH GUARD is tumbling the
load. Remember that FINISH GUARl
is selected automatically every
time you use the dryer.
TL’MBLE PRESS Setting
This setting is useful for
removing wrinkles from
items packed in suit-
cases or closets.
TUMBLE PRESS gives you 15 minutes
of tumbling at the medium fabric
temperature and 5 more minutes of
tumbling without heat. FINISH
GUARD is automatically selected
with this cycle.
For best results, TUMBLE PRESS only
a few items at a time. Put them on
hangers or fold them as soon as the
dryer stops.

Drying times Mixed loads
Drying times will vary depending on:
l amount of moisture in the clothes.
l type and weight of the fabric.
l size of the load.
l room temperature around the
dryer.
l temperature of the wash rinse
water.
l amount of lint in the lint screen.
l dryer temperature selection.
See Paqe 6 in Your “Drver Guide”
for more informaiion.
End-of-cycle signal

The dryer will beep 5 times to let you know
when the cycle is finished. It will also beep after
each FINISH GUARD tumbling. The signal cannot
be turned off and is not adjustable.
The signal is helpful when you ore drying per-
manent press, synthetics and other items that
should be taken out as soon as the dryer stops.
When drying a load with different
kinds and weights of fabrics, use the
setting suggested for the lightest
fabrics.
Lint signal
Clean lint screen before each load. If you
neglect to clean your lint screen, the signal will
sound. The (whistle tone] signal lets you know
the air flow is being restricted. Restricted air flow
reduces drying efficiency.
Turn off the dryer and clean the lint screen as
shown on page 10.

Using the drying rack
The drying rock lets you dry items that You may not wont to tumble; for
example, sneakers, stuffed toys, knitted wool, etc.
The rack does not move, but the drum turns. Make sure nothing hangs I
over the edges of the rack.

Control selection
Drying time will depend on how much moisture the items hold. The following
chart suggests temperature settings for different kinds of items that might best
be rack dried.

Lint con gather inside the dryer and create a fire hazard.This lint
should be removed every 2 to 3 years, or more often, depending on
dryer usage.
Heat Element
ELECTRIC DRYERS GAS DRYERS
Cleaning should be done only by a qualified person.
WARNING:
l Avoid electrical shock
hazard - unplug power
supply cord or turn off
electrical power.
l Avoid injury or damage -do not
put hands inside cabinet.
l Make sure dryer is cool.
1. Remove bock panel (electric)
or lower access panel (gas).
2. Avoid damaging wires,
thermostats, funnel or igniter.
3. Remove lint from shaded area -
see art - with Q soft brush or
vacuum cleaner.
4. Replace panel; reconnect and
re-level dryer.

Remove bll loose and sharp objects
from pockets and cuffs before drvina -

zippers.
Some pretreatment products can
damage dials, consoles and finish.
Do not use these products on or
near your dryer.
Wipe off all spills with a damp, soft
cloth. Spills allowed to remain may
dull or damage the finish.
Never leave wet or damp laundry
in your dryer.
Sharp or heavy objects should
never be put on or in the dryer.
Check pockets for bolts, nuts, etc.
Cleaning dryer interior
Before cleaning interior,
unplug power supply con
or turn off electrical
power to avoid electrical
shock hazard.
Garments which contain unstable dyes
such as denim blue jeans or bright-
ly colored cotton items, may discolor
the dryer interior. If the interior
is discolored, clean with one of the
following methods to avoid staining
later load items.
Powdered laundry detergent and
very warm water
Make a paste with detergent and
very warm water. Apply paste to a
soft cloth and scrub area until all
excess dye is removed. Wipe thor-
oughly with a damp cloth. Tumble
a load of rags. -OR -
liquid spray household cleaner
Spray on stained area. Rub with a
cloth until all excess dye is re-
moved. Tumble a load of rags.
Vacation care
l Unplug power cord or turn off elec-
trical power.
l For gas dryers, close gas valve.
l Clean lint screen. 11

Changing the drum light
1. Open the dryer door and remove
light bulb cover by turning it
clockwise.
2. Remove the liaht bulb by turning
it countercloc%wise.
3. Replace the bulb only with a 4. Replace the light bulb cover
40-watt appliance bulb from most and lock it in place by turning
hardware, grocery or variety stores. counterclockwise.
CAUTION: The bulb cover must be securely in place during dryer opera-
tion to prevent overheating and possible damage to fabrics. Operating
the dryer with the bulb cover removed can cause the dryer to fail or
create a FIRE HAZARD.

Performance problems often result
from little things you can find and fix
yourself without tools of any kind.
If your dryer does not run:
l If the power supply cord plugged
into a live circuit with the proper volt-
age?
l Is the door closed tightly?
l Did you touch the lower half
of a FABRIC-TEMP Selector?
l Have you checked your home’s
main fuses or circuit breaker box?
If your dryer does not heat:
l The AIR setting is without heat.
l The last minutes of heat settings are
without heat.
l Is the gas turned on? If not, move
POWER SWITCH to OFF.Turn on gas.
Wait 5 minutes. Reset controls and
start.
l An electric dryer uses a circuit
breaker or 2 fuses. If one fuse is
blown, the dryer may run, but not
heat.
