WHOOP
TROUBLESHOOTING

WHAT DOES THE
“DATA CATCHING UP”
MESSAGE MEAN?
The WHOOP app must remain open in the
background of your phone to continuously
transfer data.
Otherwise you will experience a delay as
data is transferred from the strap to your
app. Things to note:
WHOOP STRAP AND MOBILE APP
1. DO NOT FORCE-QUIT THE APP: The app cannot
run in the background transferring data once a
user has force quit and data will not transfer until
you relaunch the app.
2. DO NOT USE LOW-POWER MODE: Make sure
low-power mode is toggled o in your phone’s
settings. If it is toggled on, it will significantly
reduce how often the WHOOP Strap syncs data
with the phone.
3. KEEP BACKGROUND APP REFRESH TURNED
ON: In your phone’s settings, ensure background
app refresh is in the ‘on’ position since we require
this to allow for background data transfers.
4. AIRPLANE MODE MAY CAUSE DELAY: In
Airplane mode, Bluetooth may be toggled
o on your phone, preventing the Strap from
transferring data.
5. STAY IN BLUETOOTH RANGE OF YOUR PHONE
TO ENSURE CONTINUAL DATA TRANSFER
The WHOOP Strap is able to hold up to
three days of data, so if you experience a
delay in syncing to your phone, your data
will sync from oldest to newest once you
are reconnected.

WHY IS DATA MISSING IN THE APP?
HOW DO I EDIT MY EMAIL AND
ACCOUNT NAME?
HOW DO I EDIT MY TIME IN BED?
Missing Heart Rate data in the WHOOP app
could occur for two reasons:
1. The WHOOP Strap may be behind in syncing
data to the WHOOP app. Ensure the Strap
is within range of your phone, is connected
in your phone’s Bluetooth, and displays as
“Connected” on the Strap Status page in the
WHOOP app. If your data is behind, keep your
app open in the background on your phone
and keep your phone close to the Strap. Your
data will soon catch up.
2. If the Strap’s battery has died it will not
collect Heart Rate data. Connect your battery
pack to charge the Strap.
If you enter the wrong email address or
account name, it can be altered in your profile
in the mobile app.
1. Swipe left from the overview screen
to arrive at your profile.
2. Click on the pencil in the top right corner
to edit any details in your profile.
3. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen
and click “save.”
If your sleep in the WHOOP app does not reflect the time
you went to sleep or woke up, you have the option to edit it.
1. From the overview screen, click on your Sleep.
2. Once viewing your sleep for last night, click on the “Edit”
button which can be found on the right side of your
screen.
3. Click “Edit Sleep.”
4. Change the time bounds to reflect when you went to
sleep
and when you woke up, then click “save.”
5. Your sleep will reprocess to reflect these changes.
Your time asleep may change as well as your Recovery,
HRV, RHR and Respiratory Rate.

Connectivity and Pairing Video - iOS Connectivity and Pairing Video - Android
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY WHOOP STRAP KEEPS
DISCONNECTING FROM MY ANDROID DEVICE?
Data lag and intermittent connectivity issues are caused in part by the
Android system settings on your phone. Please make sure Airplane mode
is toggled OFF and your Bluetooth settings are on.

HOW DO I PAIR OR RE-PAIR MY WHOOP STRAP TO MY MOBILE DEVICE?
1. In the WHOOP App, go to Strap Settings,
Advanced Settings, and then click “Unpair
Strap” (disregard if there is nothing to
unpair).
2. If you are on iOS (use an iPhone), force
close the WHOOP app by swiping out of
it completely. Go to your iPhone Settings,
Bluetooth, and then click on your WHOOP
Strap’s serial number. Click “Forget This
Device.” You may have to do this step
twice if you continue to see your WHOOP
Strap in the “My Devices” section. Restart
your device.
3. If you use an Android device, “Force Stop”
the WHOOP app by going to the phone
settings and Apps & Notifications. Find
WHOOP and click “Force Stop.”
4. Take the WHOOP strap o of your wrist
and make sure the green LED lights on the
bottom of the WHOOP sensor turn o. It
may take a few seconds.
5. Tap the strap firmly and repeatedly to put
the strap in pairing mode. You will know you
are in pairing mode when you see white LED
lights moving up and down the side of the
strap.
6. Open the WHOOP app and go to Strap
Settings. Then click “Pair with a WHOOP strap.”
7. Check the number on your WHOOP strap,
which is on the box and is also visible on
the WHOOP strap when the clasp is open.
Select this number on the screen and click
“Connect,” then “Pair,” and then “Continue.”

BATTERY AND CHARGING
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY WHOOP STRAP RUNS OUT
OF POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT?
If your battery dies while your sleep is being auto-detected, your
sleep session will end at the point when your battery died. This will
cause your sleep to appear shorter than it actually was. You can
edit this sleep’s end time in the app to reflect your actual time in
bed, but this may cause the sleep to appear as “Incomplete.”
HOW DO I CHARGE MY BATTERY PACK?
The WHOOP battery pack is NOT waterproof, and will
need to be replaced if it gets wet. In all other cases:
1. Plug the battery pack into the charger and then plug
the charger into a USB outlet, allowing the battery pack
to reach full charge, indicated by a green light.
2. Slide the fully charged battery pack onto your WHOOP
strap. Check the homescreen of the app to ensure it is
charging.
3. If a charge does not occur, one way to troubleshoot is
to remove your WHOOP strap with the battery pack
still on it and plug the battery pack directly into the wall
charger. If this does not work, your battery will need to
be replaced.
