INTRODUCTION
Description
The Thermostatic Power Shower is an all-in-one power shower with
an integral mains voltage pump, with separate controls for flow and
temperature. It features a 15mm dual entry push-fit manifold to
enable the appliance to support various inlet supply configurations.
The manifold includes inlet filters and check valves.The
thermostatic mixer incorporates a wax capsule sensing unit and
ceramic disc technology for flow control.
Designed to be surface mounted the Thermostatic Power Shower
comes complete with an adjustable spray handset with three
settings, flexible hose, adjustable slider, soap dish, sliding rail and
bracket.
WARNING!
This appliance must be earthed.
The shower unit must not be connected to a Mains Cold water
supply, Unvented High Pressure systems or Multi-Point/
Combination GasWater Heaters.
The function of a thermostatic mixing valve is to deliver water
consistently at a safe temperature. In keeping with every other
mechanism, it cannot be considered as functionally infallible and
as such, cannot totally replace a supervisor’s vigilance where that
is necessary.Provided it is installed, commissioned, operated and
maintained within manufacturers recommendations, the risk of
failure, if not eliminated, is reduced to the minimum achievable.

SPECIFICATION
General
Shower unit duty cycle: 15 minutes on, 60 minutes off.
E ceeding the units duty cycle
The motor is fitted with a thermal cut out device, if temperatures
become too high the device will cut the power to the motor but will
self-reset once temperatures have normalised.
Noise Level
The acoustic noise from the pump motor has been reduced with
integral foam/rubber mountings.The type of wall can affect noise
levels. Solid walls will provide quieter operation. At full flow this unit
will produce in the region of 55 dBA measured from a distance of
1m.

Running in period
For storage reasons the pump motor has a protective film on the
motor contacts.This may produce a burning smell for a period of up
to 5 days after installation, this is normal.

220-240V at 50Hz, fused at 3 Amps, via a double pole fused switch
(not supplied) with a minimum 3mm contact separation in each
contact.

BS 6700 recommends hot water storage temperature should not
exceed 65°C.
Hot water should be set in the range of 60 to 65°C to meet
requirements of the shower unit.
Operating pressure (static)
Minimum static pressure 0.0075 bar or 75mm head of water.
Maximum static pressure 1bar or 10m head of water.
Note! If 10m head, 1 bar pressure is available the use of a suitable
mixer shower would be more appropriate and give similar
performance.

INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
Gravity Fed system -The shower MUST be fed from a cold water
cistern and hot water cylinder providing nominally equal pressure.
Standards
This Thermostatic Power Shower complies with all relevant
directives for CE marking.

1. Do not install in a position where the unit can become frozen.
2. The shower unit must be supplied from a cold storage tank and
hot water cylinder with equal pressures.The shower unit must
not be connected to a Mains Cold water supply, Unvented High
Pressure systems or Multi-Point/Combination GasWater
Heaters.
3. Ensure that HOT (H) and COLD (C) supplies are connected to
the correct inlets.These are clearly marked.Failure to do so
could be dangerous.
4. The shower unit is for surface mounting only and must not be
recessed into any wall or cavity, or tiled up to, as this will inhibit
water drainage from rear of unit.

Warning!
1. Products manufactured by us are safe and without risk
provided they are installed, used and maintained in good
working order in accordance with our instructions and
recommendations.
2. THIS APPLIANCE POWER SHOWER MUST BE
EARTHED.
3. In accordance with the current edition of ‘The Plugs and
Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations in force at the time of
installation, this Thermostatic Power Shower is intended to
be permanently connected to the fixed electrical wiring of the
mainssystem.
4. DO NOT twist the individual cable cores of the live and
neutral conductors, as this will prevent them from entering
the terminal block.
5. Make sure that any pipework that could become frozen is
properly insulated.The shower unit must not be fitted where it
may be exposed to freezing conditions.
6. DO NOT operate this Thermostatic Power Shower if it is
frozen. Allow the unit to thaw before using again.
7. If water leaks from the pressure relief valve, maintenance will
be required before the Thermostatic Power Shower can be
safely used.
8. DO NOT fit any form of outlet flow control as the outlet.
9. There are no user serviceable components beneath the
cover of the Thermostatic Power Shower. Only a competent
tradesperson should remove the cover.

10. If any of the following conditions occur, isolate the electricity
and water supplies and refer to To contact us”, on the
back page of this guide.
-If the cover is not correctly fitted and water has entered
the unit case.
-If the case is damaged.
-If the unit begins to make an odd noise, smell or smoke.
-If the unit shows signs of a distinct change in
performance, indicating a need for maintenance.
-If the unit is frozen.
11. Isolate the electrical and water supply before removing the
cover.
12. Mains connections are exposed when the cover is removed.
13. Refer to the wiring diagram before making any electrical
connections.
14. Ensure all electrical connections are tight, to prevent
overheating.
Caution!
1. Read all of these instructions and retain this guide for
later use.
2. Pass on this guide in the event of change of ownership of the
installation site.
3. Follow all warnings, cautions and instructions contained in
this guide, and on or inside the appliance.
4. The electrical installation must comply with the “Requirements
for Electrical Installations”commonly referred to as the IEE
WiringRegulations,oranyparticularregulationsandpractices,
specified by the local electricity supply company in force at the
time of installation. The installation should be carried out by an
electricianorcontractorwhoisregistered,orisamemberof,an
association such as:

-The Electrical Contractors Association (ECA), England
and Wales.
-The Electrical Contractors Association of Scotland
(ECAS).

-National Association of Plumbing, Heating and
Mechanical Services Contractors (NAPH & MSC),
England and Wales.
-Scottish and Northern Ireland Plumbing Employers’
Federation (SNIPEF), Scotland and Northern Ireland.
1. The plumbing installation must comply with the requirements of
UK Water Regulations/Bylaws (Scotland), Building Regulations
or any particular regulations and practices, specified by the
local water company or water undertakers.The installation
should be carried out by a plumber or contractor who is
registered, or is a member of, an association such as:
2. A minimum storage capacity of cold water of 230 litres (50
gallons) as the shower unit can deliver up to 13.5 litres/minute.
3. A high level hot feed pipe (as illustrated) will result in airlocking
and should be avoided.
4. Do not turn electrical supply on until all plumbing connections
have been made and the shower unit has been commissioned
as it must not be operated dry.
5. Do not solder supply pipework within 300mm of the shower unit
as heat transfer may damage plastic components.

6. Do not use compounds on the shower unit joints, they may
cause damage to the mechanism inside.
7. Do not insert fingers into the Push Fit connections.
8. The supply pipe ends must be free from burrs, which, ifnot
removed will damage the Push fit seals.
9. If plated tubing is used for inlet pipework remove 25mm of
plating to ensure good seal. Stainless steel piping MUST not be
used.
10. 15mm polythene plastic pipe suitable for hot water may be used
to supply the shower unit, but internal pipe supports must be
used.
11. Supplies must be thoroughly flushed to remove any debris
before connecting the shower unit.
12. Fit servicing valves in an accessible position.

1. Pull off inner temperature
control,temperature
indicator and outer flow
control to reveal cover
securing screw.
2. Unscrew cover securing
screw and lift cover from
bottomtoremove.
3. Hot and cold inlet supply
connections as marked

Note! Reversed supply
connections cannot be
catered for with this
appliance
Run the hot and cold water
supply pipes at 28mm
centres, ensuring that the
pipe ends project into the
appliance by 30mm to allow
connection into the inlet
manifold.

4. Ensure that the end of the
supply pipework is cut
squarely and free from
burrs, which will damage the
inlet manifold seals.
Chamfer the end of the pipe
to assist insertion into the
fitting and prevent tearing the
‘O’seal.
5. Locate base unit onto inlet
supplies against the wall, in
the chosen position. Ensure
that minimum head pressure
measurement is achieved
and the screwed outlet is at
thebottom.
6. Mark through fixing holes, two
at the top and one at the
bottom.

7. Using the push-fit release/
lock tool, place twin bladed
side on the face of the
connectors and push grey
collars into manifold to
release from supply pipes.
8. Drill wall and insert wall plug.
The wall plugs supplied may
not be suitable for the type of
wall being fixed to. Ensure
correct type of wall plugs are
used.
9. Cut away and trim the thinned
section at the top or bottom of
the case to allow electrical
supply cables to run down
rear of case.
10. Route the mains electrical
cable through the channel
and cable entry in the rear of
the base unit.
Caution! Ensure inlet pipework is
thoroughly flushed.
11. Locate base unit onto inlet
supplies and push onto
pipework.
12. Secure base unit to wall
using fixing screws supplied.

13. Lock push-fit collars using the
push-fit release/lock tool
using the single end to lift the
grey locking collars.
14. Insert 2 Blanking Plugs into
unused inlets by pushing in
firmly and lock using tool.
15. Before making any electrical
connection turn on water
supplies and check supply
connections for leaks.
16. Feed mains cable through
cable clamp and connect
electrical supply to marked
terminals in the following
manner:
L - Live terminal bloc
N - Neutral terminal bloc
E - Earth stud screw
17. Ensure that all terminal
connections are tight and that
no insulation is pinched.
18. Secure the cable clamp to
prevent strain on the terminal
block.
Warning! Do not switch on the
electrical supply until the
COMMISSIONING has been
completed and the cover securely
fitted.

19. Fit blanking plate(s) into
unused inlet(s) of case.
Warning! Blanks should be fitted
to stop access to inside of unit.
20. Refit cover by locating onto
ridge on top of cover and
push the bottom of cover
against rear case. Refit cover
retaining screw.
21. Refit outer flow control,
temperature indicator and
inner temperature control
onto the respective keyways.

COMMISSIONING
Priming the unit
The unit must not be run dry.
Before proceeding any further
with the installation it is important
to prime the pump assembly
before switching on the electrical
supply.
1. Connect the flexible hose
only to the shower outlet of
the unit.
Caution! Do not over tighten.
2. Turn on the water supplies.
Do not turn on electrical
supplies.
3. Turn the outer flow control
fully on.
4. Rotate the inner temperature
control anticlockwise to check
the hot supply and clockwise
to check the cold supply.
5. The pump is now primed.
6. Switch on the electrical
supply.

Maximum Temperature Setting
It may be necessary to adjust the maximum temperature for site
conditions to ensure safe showering from the unit. Ensure hot water
temperature is at least 10°C above the required temperature from the
unit.
To reset the maximum outlet temperature the sequence below
should be followed:-
1. Turn outer flow control
anticloc wise to full on.
2. Turn the inner temperature
control lever anticloc wise
until maximum rotation has
been achieved.
3. Checktemperature.
4. Iftemperaturerequires
adjustment, with the unit
running, pull the inner
temperaturecontrolfromthe
unit.
5. Insert a thin bladed
screwdriver down the centre
of the temperature spindle,
turnanticloc wise to
increase or cloc wise to
decreasetemperature.
6. Refit inner temperature
control and turn off.

OPERATION
For safety reasons this appliance
is fitted with an adjustable
maximumtemperaturesetting.
This must be checked and
adjusted as necessary to suit both
site conditions and user’s comfort.
1. Turn the outer flow control
knob until the desired flow of
water is obtained.The flow of
water will increase the further
the control is turned.
2. Turn the inner temperature
control anticlockwise for
warmer water and clockwise
for cooler water, the numbers
indicate the relative
temperature:
1= cool
