TROUBLE SHOOTING
Power switch on, but no power
• Check power to wall outlet.
• Check AC cord connection to wall plug.
Power Indicator is on, but no sound
from speakers
• Check Function selector.
• Check VOLUME setting.
• Make sure headphones are not plugged in.
Poor AM Reception
• Internal AM bar antenna is directional.
• Slight rotation of unit may improve
reception.
Poor FM Reception
• Unravel and fully extend FM wire antenna
for best reception.
No Sound
• Make sure function selector is in TAPE
position.
• Make sure PAUSE button is not pressed.
• Make sure cassette is recorded on.
Poor Playback Sound
• Check cassette - tape may be stretched
or damaged.
• Are cassette heads dirty? If so, clean as
directed in MAINTENANCE section of this
manual.
Record button cannot be pressed in
• Cassette erase-protection tab is removed.
Use another cassette or apply adhesive
tape over tab hole.
Poor Recording
• Are cassette heads dirty ? If so, clean as
directed in MAINTENANCE section of this
manual.
• Check tape type. Use only Normal (Type A)
cassette tape.
Tape speed is erratic
• Are capstan and/or pinch rollers dirty ? If
so,clean as directed in MAINTENANCE
section of this manual.
CD does not play
• Check Function selector - set to CD.
• CD must be inserted label side up.
• Check disc for dirt or scratches.
• Lens may be dirty or clouded. Clean with a
commercially available CD lens cleaner.
• If unit is taken from inside to cold weather,
condensation may form on the lens.
Let unit warm up to room temperature.

REMOTE CONTROL
This unit comes with a Remote Control
which allows the user to control certain
system functions from a distance of up to 20
feet.
The Remote Control requires two AAA
batteries (not included).
NOTE :
The Remote Control should always be
aimed at the Remote Control Sensor on the
unit for best performance.
Remote Control Functions:
NOTE :
POWER button on main unit must be 'ON' in
order for Remote Control to operate.
1. Power ON/STAND BY - Switches the
unit between Power "ON" and Stand-By
modes. The Power indicator LED on the
unit will remain lit in the Stand-By mode.

CONNECTIONS
POWER CONNECTION
Connect the power cord to AC outlet only.
SPEAKER JACKS
Connect the SPEAKER PLUGS to the
SPEAKER JACKS located on the rear of the
unit.
This unit should not be connected to
speakers with an impedance of less than
4 ohms, otherwise damage may result to
the unit.
HEADPHONE JACK (PHONES)
This unit will accept stereo headphones (not
included) with a 1/8" plug and an impedance
of 16 ohms or greater.
The speakers are automatically
disconnected when headphones are
connected to the PHONES jack.
POWER - Press to turn unit ON or OFF.
The Power Indicator LED will light when the
unit is on.
VOLUME - Adjusts loudness of speakers or
headphones
FUNCTION - Use to select desired source
(TAPE, CD, RADIO or PHONO) to be
listened to. The selected source is also
available for recording. Please consult
RECORDING section of this manual for
more details.
1) Turn the unit "ON" using the POWER
switch.
2) Select the TUNER function.
3) Set the BAND selector as desired.
4) Tune in the desired station using the
Tuning UP/DOWN or SCAN UP button.
If the FM ST. band was chosen, the FM
STEREO indicator will light to indicate
stereo received.
To listen in Mono or to improve noisy, weak-
signal stereo broadcasts, set the FM Mode
selector switch to the MONO position. The
STEREO indicator will go off and FM Mono
is now received.
5) Adjust the VOLUME, EXTRA BASS controls
to the desired sound level.
Note:
There are 10 presets for AM and
20 presets for FM
Tuning:
1) Set BAND switch to desired band to
access presets.
2) Press MEMORY, M-DOWN,M-UP BUTTON
(on remote Handset) as desired to
instantly tune to the station stored at that
memory location.
HINTS FOR BEST RECEPTION :
AM/FM : The receiver has a built-in AM/FM
bar antenna. If AM/FM reception is weak, slight
rotation or repositioning of the unit will usually
improve AM/FM reception.
During recording, beating whistle at some
stations may occur, so sliding "FM MODE"
switch may help.
FM : The receiver has a built-in FM wire antenna
hanging from the rear cabinet. This wire
should be totally unravelled and extended
for best reception.
GENERAL
TUNER

Note :
Remove the stylus protector.
Be sure that the tone arm is detached from the
tone arm rest before operation and re-secured
again afterward.
1. Press the POWER switch to ON.
2. Set the FUNCTION switch to the
PHONO
3. Set the speed selector to the proper
position depending on the record to be
played.
4. Place the record on the platter (if
required, use the 45 rpm adaptor).
5. Lift the tone arm from the rest and slowly
move it to the edge of the record. The platter
will begin to rotate.
6. Place the tone arm to the desired
position.
7. Adjust VOLUME & EXTRA BASS
controls to the desired sound level and sound
equalization.
8. At the end of record, the platter will
automatically stop rotation. Lift the tone
arm from the record and return it to the rest.
9. To stop manually, lift the tone arm from
the record , and return it to the rest.

PHONO
Inserting and Removing the Cassette
Tape
Open the cassette compartment lid by
pressing the STOP/EJECT button. Insert
the cassette placing the full reel on the left
(visible through the window) and the
exposed section of the tape at the bottom.
Close the compartment lid. Now the unit is
ready for operation. To use the second
track, press the STOP/EJECT button and
remove the cassette. Turn the cassette
around and reinsert it as previously
described.
Recommended Cassette Tapes
In order to obtain optimum performance with
the built-in cassette tape deck, it is essential
to use only high quality cassette tapes. The
bias and equalization of your tape deck is
adjusted to yield excellent results if used
with brand name tapes. Use C-30, C-60
and C-90 cassettes only. We do not
recommend C-120 cassettes because
they can be subject to mechanical instability
and proper constant tape tension cannot be
controlled.
Checking the Cassette
Make sure that the cassette tape has no
slack prior to inserting it into the recorder.
Safeguard Against Accidental
Erasure
To protect valuable recordings from accidental
erasing, the tape deck and the cassette are
equipped with standard safety features. To
keep the recorded material carefully, break out
the tabs on the back of the cassette with a knife
or screwdriver. To protect the side A (1) from
accidental erasure, break out the right side
tab (2). To record on a cassette whose tabs
have been broken, simply attach adhesive
tape (3) over the tab opening. The REC button
will not lock in position when a cassette tab
has been removed.

Unless the tape is taut, it may wind around
the head mechanism and trouble may result.
Use a pencil as shown in the Figure to take
up slack on one of the reels.

The TAPE B is used for playback only. The
TAPE A is used both for recording and
playback.
Do not turn the unit off while the tape is
running. Otherwise, the pinch roller may be
damaged.
1. Press the POWER switch to ON.
2. Set the TAPE function selector.
3. Press the appropriate STOP/EJECT
button and insert a recordable cassette.
4. Press the PLAY button to start playback.
5. Adjust the VOLUME & EXTRA BASS
controls to the desired sound level and sound
equalization.
6. Press the STOP/EJECT button to stop
playback at any time. When the end of the
tape is reached, the automatic stop will be
activated.
Fast-Forward and Rewind
For fast winding or rewinding the tape, press
the F.Fwd or REW button. Press the STOP/
EJECT button when the desired location has
been reached. When the end of the tape
has been reached, the reels will stop. Then
the STOP/EJECT button should be pressed.
Pause
Press the PAUSE button to momentarily
suspend tape travel during recording or
playback. Re-press the PAUSE button to
release pause and recording or playback
restart. Pause control does not function
during fast forward or rewind.
CASSETTE PLAYBACK (DECK B) (DECK A)
This unit enables you to play continuously
from DECK B to DECK A.
1. Press the POWER switch to ON.
2. Set the FUNCTION selector to TAPE.
3. Insert pre-recorded cassettes to DECK
A and DECK B compartments.
4. Press the PAUSE button and PLAY
button of DECK B.
5. Press the PAUSE button and PLAY
button of DECK A.
6. Release the PAUSE button of DECK B,
DECK B will start playing.
When DECK B reaches the end of the tape.
DECK B will automatically stop and then
DECK A will start playing automatically.
7. Adjust the VOLUME & EXTRA BASS
controls to the desired sound level and
sound equalization.
This unit has an ALC (Automatic Level
Control) circuit and no further adjustment of
the controls is necessary while recording.
1. Press the POWER switch to ON.
2. Set the desired FUNCTION selector
according to the source to be recorded.
3. Press the STOP/EJECT button to insert
a blank tape.
4. Press the RECORD/PLAY button to
start recording.
5. Since you can monitor through the
speakers regardless of the recording
level, adjust the VOLUME & EXTRA
BASS controls to the desired sound
level and sound equalization.
6. Press the STOP/EJECT button to stop
recording at any time. When the end of
the tape has been reached, the
automatic stop will be activated.
Note:
Noise may be heard if recording from AM
Radio station, to reduce this noise please press
the Beat Cut Switch.
Erasing
To erase the recording tape without making a
new recording, let the unit operate in the
recording mode.
Note:
Do not opearate the DECK B while erasing
CONTINUOUS PLAYBACK (DECK B) TO (DECK A)
RECORDING (DECK A)

DUBBING (DECK B) TO (DECK A)
MAINTENANCE
This unit enables you to duplicate a pre-
recorded tape to another tape by using the
unit-in double deck mechanisms. It is
performed only one way, from the DECK B
(playback) to DECK A (recording).
Dubbing at normal Speed
Note:
Be sure the HIGH SPEED DUBBING switch
is SET AT NORMAL in order to record
at normal speed.
1. Press the POWER switch to ON.
2. Set the TAPE function selector.
3. Insert a pre-recorded cassette into the
DECK B and a blank cassette into the
DECK A.
4. Press the DECK A PAUSE button and
then press the RECORD button.
5. Press the DECK B PLAY button to start
dubbing.
6. Adjust the VOLUME & EXTRA BASS
controls to desired sound level and
sound equalization.
Dubbing at High Speed
This unit is equipped with a HIGH SPEED
DUBBING system which allows duplicating
a pre-recorded tape at approximately two-
thirds the time of the duration at normal
speed.
Slide the HIGH SPEED DUBBING switch,
and follow the same procedure as instructed
in "DUBBING AT NORMAL SPEED".
When dubbing a pre-recorded cassette tape
at HIGH SPEED in TAPE function, a
chattering sound is heard. To avoid this, set
the VOLUME control to a minimum or set
the desired FUNCTION button according to
the source to be heard.
Note:
When the dubbing at HIGH SPEED is in progress,
do not release the HIGH SPEED SWITCH, since
this will vary the speed of the program and ruin the
recording.
Power Switch
After using the unit, turn off the power by
releasing the POWER switch.
Cleaning the unit
To keep the unit clean, simply wipe with a soft
clean cloth moistened with plain lukewarm
water.
Cleaning the Heads
To ensure the continued high performance
of your unit, periodically clean the heads and
pinch rollers to prevent accumulation of dust
or tape oxide deposits. Failure to clean these
parts may result in inferior sound quality,
distortion of recorded sound, deterioration
of reproduction of high frequencies, and
inconsistent tape speed.
1. Open both cassette compartment lids.
2. Moisten a cotton bud with head cleaner
or methylated spirit and apply to the
faces of heads, rubbing gently until all
traces of dirt or oxide are removed.
Also clean the surfaces of the pinch
rollers and the capstans.
3. Dry, clean and polish the faces of the
heads with a piece of cloth.
Stylus (needle) Replacement
Replacement of a worn stylus can be easily
accomplished as follows.
1. Raise the "Tone Arm."
2. To remove the old stylus, pull out the
stylus assembly in the direction shown,
holding the head shell with other hand.
3. Then install the new stylus by pushing it
gently into the cartridge (hold by the
edge to prevent damage to stylus) until it
clicks into place.

Safety Instruction :
Do not connect the power cord to the mains supply until all other connections have been
made.
Do not expose this apparatus to dripping or splashing
HANDLING COMPACT DISCS
To remove a disc from its storage case, press down on the centre of the case and lift the disc
out, holding it carefully by the edges.
Fingerprints and dust should be carefully wiped off the disc's recorded surface with a soft cloth.
Unlike conventional records, compact discs have no grooves to collect dust and microscopic
debris so gently wiping with a soft cloth should remove most particles. Wipe in a straight line
from the inside to outside of the disc. Small dust particies and light stains will have absolutely
no effect on reproduction quality.
Never use chemicals such as record sprays, antislatic sprays, benzine, or thinners to clean
compact discs. These chemicals can irreparably damage the disc's surface.
Discs should be returned to their cases after use. This avoids serious scratches that could
cause the Laser pickup to skip. Do not expose discs to direct sunlight, high humidity, or high
temperatures for extended periods. Long exposure to high temperatures can warp the disc.
Important
Since movement of the CD mechanism and the sensitive circuitry may cause interterence to a
radio tuner nearby, switch this unit off white operating other radio devices.
This product utilises a laser
Danger - invisible laser radiation when opened and interlock failed or defeated.
Avoid direct exposure to the beam.
Caution - Use of controls, adjustments, or procedures not listed in this
manual may result in hazardous radiation exposure.
Concerning Compact Discs
Only compact discs identified with this mark can be used with in this player.

1) Press the POWER button to turn the unit on.
2) Select the CD FUNCTION button.
The CD Disc tray will turn to check if any discs are present.
If no discs are in the tray, NO DISC will appear in the display.
3) Press the OPEN/CLOSE button to open the disc compartment.
The CD tray will open, exposing the right and left disc holders. The third disc holder will remain
in the unit. To expose the third disc holder, press one of the DISC No. buttons.
4) When the CD Compartment has opened, remove a disc from its case and place it carefully in
the CD tray with the label side facing up.
5) Press the OPEN/CLOSE button to close the disc compartment.
This unit will allow you to open the disc tray whilst in the PLAY mode to allow you to load another
one or two discs without interrupting play by playing the DISC CHANGE button.
The disc compartment may be opened at any time by pressing the OPEN/CLOSE button.
Remove the CD's only after the compartment has fully opened.
Press the Disc changer button and the trays will turn clockwise automatically allowing the
removal of the discs.
Normal Playback
Press the CD function button.
Press the OPEN/CLOSE button to open the disc compartment.
Press the DISC Changer button to select the Disc.
Press the OPEN/CLOSE button to close the disc compartment.
After the disc number, total number of tracks and playing time is displayed, press the PLAY/PAUSE
button to start play. The first track will begin to play and the CD will then play all tracks on all
discs, when more than one CD is loaded. At the end of the disc, the unit will switch to STOP
mode.
Important Information
This compact disc player has built-in error compensation circuits to correct minor defects in
a disc. There are limits, however, to the amount of correction available.
In some cases, the CD player may skip some tracks on a disc during disc play. This problem
may be caused by defects (such as scratches) in the disc being played, which are too large for
the error compensation circults to handle. If you encounter this problem, check the CD players
operation as follows before having the unit serviced.
Play a new disc. If the CD player operates normally, the skipping problem is probably due to a
defective disc or dirty disc.
To Stop a CD Part Way Through
Press the STOP button. Disc play will stop, and the display will show the total number of tracks
and the total playing time for the CD.
To temporarily stop disc play ( PAUSE mode), press the PLAY/PAUSE button. Disc play will
pause at the current play position.
To resume disc play, press the PLAY/PAUSE button again.

Do not put anything except a compact disc into the compartment. Foreign objects can damage
the mechanism. Do not force the compartment by hand during the opening and closing
operations. Keep the disc compartment closed when not in use to prevent dirt and dust from
entering the mechanism. Never place more than one disc in each tray at any time.
If the disc is deeply scratched, or too dirty, the disc may not play.
During playback, pressing and holding the Forward or Reverse SKIP/SEARCH buttons will
cause the player to scan through the current track. At the end of a track the player will skip to
the next track and continue scanning.
At the beginning of a track the player will skip to the previous track and continue scanning.
When the player reaches the end of the final track, or the beginning of the first track, it will stop
scanning.

It is possible to program the tracks you wish to play in a sequence of your choice. It is not
possible to enter programs during disc play. Press the STOP button first, then follow the
instructions below.
PROGRAMMING THE TRACK FROM 1 DISC
1. Select the desired disc.
2. Press the MEMORY button. The following information will be displayed on the CD Display.
3. Select the desired track using the Forward and Reverse SKIP/SEARCH buttons.

The first program selection is now stored in the program memory.
Select the next desired track using the Forward and Reverse SKIP/SEARCH buttons.
Press the MEMORY button.
PROGRAMMING THE TRACK FROM MORE THAN 1 DISC
Programming the track from a different disc. Repeat the same procedure 1-4.
Press the No. button to select the next disc.
Repeat procedures 1-4 to program the next tracks.
Continue entering tracks in this way until all the desired tracks are stored.
20 Tracks can be programmed in this way.
Notes:
If the PLAY/PAUSE button is pressed before the MEMORY button is pressed to store a track,
the track will not be programmed and the disc will start playing from the first selected track. Any
track can be programmed to play more than once.

Listen to Programmed Tracks
Press the PLAY/PAUSE button.
Disc play will start at the beginning of the first programmed track.
To Clear The Program Memory
If the disc is playing, press the STOP button.
Press the STOP button again until the MEMORY Indicator does not appear.
The program memory will also be cleared if the disc compartment is opened, if the function is
changed, or if the power is switched off.

This function allows the operator to repeat a single track, all of the tracks of one CD or with all
of the tracks on all 3 CD's.
1. REPEAT ALL Disc
Press REPEAT Disc once "REPEAT DISC ALL" appears in the display

To cancel repeat mode, keep pressing the REPEAT button until the REPEAT indicator does not
appear.
Note:
Single Track Repeat function is possible In normal or programmed playback, repeat one disc or
all discs in only avallable in normal playback.
TIMER ON/OFF & MEMORY/CLK-ADJ KEY REMOTE CONTROL
1. Press MODE once, LCD will appear the clock time. Then press MEMORY/clk-adj "00:00" will
appear flashing press SKIP+ or SKIP- to adjust time. When done press MODE once to confirm.
2. Now "TIMER ON" will appear flashing on LCD. Press MEMORY/CLK-ADJ & SKIP- to set the
TIMER ON function. When done, press MODE once to confirm. Set unit to STAND BY mode.
Unit will be ON at the time set by TIMER ON.
3. Press MODE once more, "TIMER OFF" will appear flashing on LCD. Follow simllar instructions
as mentioned in 2) above. Unit will turn to STAND BY mode at the time set by TIMER OFF.
4. After setting the TIMER ON and TIMER OFF, press TIMER once to activate these funtions.
PRESET EQUALIZER BY REMOTE CONTROL
1. Press EQ once for JAZZ LCD. will display JAZZ
2. Press EQ twice for ROCK LCD. will display ROCK.
3. Press EQ 3 times for CLASSIC. LCD will display CLASSIC.
4. Press EQ 4 time for POP. LCD will display POP
5. Press EQ 5 times for FLAT. LCD will display FLAT(i.e., no EQ)
REPEAT DISC PLAY BY REMOTE CONTROL

INTRO BY REMOTE CONTROL
Operates in STOP or PLAY mode
1. Press INTRO once, each song will play for 10 seconds.
2. Press INTRO twice to delete this function. Unit will resume normal play.
SLEEP BY REMOTE CONTROL
1. Press SLEEP once, "SLEEP 90" will appear on LCD. This means unit will be stopped & turned
to STAND BY mode in 90 minutes. Keep pressing SLEEP for about 5 seconds, "80, 70, 60,
50..." will appear on LCD to allow selection on the desired sleep time.
2. Press SLEEP twice to delete this function.
REMAIN BY REMOTE CONTROL
1. Press REMAIN once, LCD will display the time remaining of the song currently playing.
2. Press REMAIN twice, LCD will display the time remaining of the CD currently playing.
3. Press REMAIN 3 times, LCD will display the number of songs & time already played on the
current CD.
4. Press REMAIN 4 times to delete this function.
RANDOM BY REMOTE CONTROL
1. Under STOP mode, press RANDOM once, LCD will display RANDOM.
2. Press PLAY to play a song based on random selection.
3. Press RANDOM twice to delete this function.
THE FUNCTIONS OF: DISC 2, DISC 3 & DISC CH KEYS BY REMOTE CONTROL
1. If press DISC 1 or DISC 2 or DISC 3, the bottom right hand corner of LCD will display "DISC
1" This means the unit is playing 1 disc only. The disc number currently on play will appear
flashing on the top right hand corner of the LCD. When all songs on this disc have finished,
the unit will stop.
2. If press DISC-CH, the bottom right hand corner of LCD will display "DISC ALL". This means
the unit is going to play all discs. For example, if currently playing on disc #1, the unit will
continue to play all songs on disc #1, unit will then play all songs on disc #2 & then disc #3 &
then stop. Similarly if currently playing on disc #3, when finished playing all songs on disc #3,
unit will go on to play all songs on disc #1 & then disc #2 & then stop.

Starting disc play from the beginning of a particular track
Press the Forward or Reverse SKIP/SEARCH buttons to select the desired track. The number of
the selected track will be shown on the CD display. Press the PLAY/ PAUSE button to start play.
To skip to the next track on a disc
For example, to skip ahead to the beginning of track 2 while track 1 is playing.
Press the FWD SKIP/SEARCH button. Disc play will resume at the beginning of track 2.
The CD player will skip ahead to the next track each time the Forward SKIP/SEARCH button is
pressed. Repeatedly pressing the SKIP/SEARCH button makes the CD player skip
ahead through the disc track by track. Once the beginning of the last track has been reached
the CD player will not advance any further.
To skip back to the previous track on a disc
For example to skip back to the beginning of track 3 while track 4 is playing.
Press the Reverse SKIP/SEARCH button twice. Disc play will resume at the beginning of track

The CD played will skip back one track each time the Reverse SKIP/SEARCH button is pressed.
If this button is pressed in the middle of a track, the CD player will skip back to the beginning of
that track. To make it skip back to the previous track press the Reverse SKIP/SEARCH button
twice.
Repeatedly pressing the Reverse SKIP/SEARCH button makes the CD player skip back through
the disc track by track. Once the beginning of the first track is reached, the CD played will not
go back any further.
Notes:
The Forward and Reverse SKIP/SEARCH buttons can be used to select a desired track to play
before disc play starts. In this case the number of the selected track will be displayed until
the PLAY/PAUSE button is pressed. Tracks can be selected even when the disc compartment
is open.

To cancel a repeat mode, keep pressing the REPEAT button until the REPEAT indicator is extinguished.
Note: Single Track Repeat function is possible in normal or programmed playback, repeat one disc
or all discs in only available in normal playback.
