OWNERS MANUAL
EELEX 8000

Congratulations.
You are now the owner of the innovative and cutting edge Eelex 8000. We thank you for choosing an XShore craft
and wish you many enjoyable and sustainable moments at sea.
In this owners manual you will find valuable information that will help you handle and maintain your boat in
a safe and easy manner. Furthermore, the manual contains detailed information about the boat and the
systems installed, and general information about handling and taking care of your boat.
We advise you to read the manual carefully and familiarise yourself with your boat before you start to use it.
Naturally, this owner’s manual is not a substitute for conscious boating or good seamanship. If this is your
first boat or if this boat type is new to you, we ask for your own comfort and safety, ensuring you can
handle the boat before you set out for the first time. Your boat dealer, local boat clubs and national
motorboat or yacht federations will gladly inform you about local sea schools or recommend approved
instructors.

and in some countries special regulations might also be in force.
WARNING
• Do not exceed the maximum recommended number of persons on board.
• Regardless of the number of persons on board, the total mass of persons and equipment must never exceed the
maximum recommended load.
• Always use the seats / occupancy areas provided.
The following lists of responsibilities are not exhaustive.
It is the responsibility of the boat owner or operator to do the following when handling the boat:
•Know the limitations of your boat.
•Ensure that the anticipated wind and sea conditions will correspond to the design category of your boat and that you
and your crew are able to handle the boat in these conditions
•Never operate the boat under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

7
•Follow the rules of the road and the Convention of International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea
(COLREG).
•Always adjust the speed and direction of the craft to sea conditions.
•Keep a sharp lookout for people and objects in the water.
•Reduce speed when there is limited visibility, rough water, or people, boats, or structures in the water nearby.
•Be aware of the safety of the crew and any passengers at all times.
•Ensure the crew and guests are advised of the location and instructions for fire control equipment and the location of
evacuation routes and emergency exits, and that the fire control equipment always is accessible.
The boat owner or operator is responsible for safety preparations:
•Read and follow the instructions in this manual, and make sure you understand the described hazards.
•If your craft is fitted with a life raft, carefully read the operating manual of the life raft.
•The craft should have onboard the appropriate safety equipment (lifejackets, harnesses, etc.) according to the type of
craft, weather conditions, etc. This equipment is mandatory in some countries.
•The crew should be familiar with the use of all safety equipment and emergency maneuvering (man overboard
recovery, towing, etc.).
•Make sure the boat is fitted with a functioning handheld fire extinguisher in the designated location. SeeSafety
equipment, page10.
The following is also the responsibility of the boat owner or boat operator:

safety characteristics of the craft shall be assessed, executed and documented by competent people. XShore cannot
be held responsible for modifications that XShore has not approved.

8

Design category and CE marking
This craft carries the CE-mark to show compliance with the applicable EU directives and regulations about health,
environment, and safety.
This boat is classified as a Recreational Craft Directive (RCD) design category C craft for a maximum number of 10
persons on board.
A boat of RCD category C is constructed to operate in typical steady winds of Beaufort force 6 or less and the
associated significant waves heights of up to 2 m, while retaining stability and buoyancy and still being easy to maneuver.
Typically, such conditions might be encountered on exposed inland waters, in estuaries, and in coastal waters in
moderate weather conditions. Depending on atmospheric conditions, winds can gust to about 18 m/s. For more
information, refer to Directive 2013/53/EU on recreational craft and personal watercraft.

• If the fire reaches the high-voltage lithium-ion batteries, it may result in an explosion.
• Always evacuate if immediate risk of a high-voltage lithium-ion battery catching fire.
• If the fire starts to get out of control, leave the burning boat to save lives.
Fire usually spreads rapidly, act immediately to keep passengers safe and extinguish the fire. Do the following:
1. Stop the motor.
2. All passengers on board must put their life jackets on.
3. If necessary, evacuate the passengers.
4. If possible, steer the boat up against the wind.
5. If necessary, call for sea rescue.
6. Shut off main power.
7. If fire in a compartment: wait until fully certain that the fire has been extinguished and carefully open the hatch.
WARNING
There is a risk of fire flaring up. Be prepared to use the handheld fire extinguisher.
8. Put out any smoldering fires with water.

14
NOTE
Make sure that the handheld fire extinguisher is refilled or replaced after use.
Grounding
In the event of grounding, do the following:
1. Immediately make a visual inspection internally.
2. Consider a haul out and external inspection as soon as practical and discuss with a marine professional to determine
whether a survey of the affected area of the boat and any repair actions are required.
Make sure that any repairs to the inner hull matrix and the hull shell are undertaken by a professional repair yard, after
consultation with XShore.
Any repair specification should be developed by either a surveyor, a naval architect, or XShore.
