SPARK PLUG INSPECTION
You should periodically remove and
inspect the spark plug.
1. Check for discoloration and re-
move the carbon.
Standard electrode color:
Tan Color
2. Check the spark plug type and
gap.
Standard Spark Plug:
BPR4HS
Spark Plug Gap:
0.6-0.7 mm
(0.024 - 0.028 in)
CD Gap
3. Installthe spark plug.
Spark Plug Torque:

ENGINE OIL

Oil level checking
1. Placethe machine on a level sur-
face and warm up the engine for
several minutes. Then stop the
engine.
2. Make sure the engine oil is be-
tween upper and lower levels.
Add oil as necessary.

Oil replacement
1. Proceed with the "OIL LEVEL
CHECKING" items 1.
2. Place an oil pan under the en-
gine. Remove the oil filler cap
and oil drain plug so that the oil
can be completely drained.
3. Check the drain plug gasket and
oil filler cap a-ring. If damaged,
replace it.

4. Reinstall the oil drain plug.
Drain Plug:
48 Nm (4.8 m-kg,
34.7 ft-Ib)
5. Add engine oil.
Recommended oil:
!AI SAE 10W-30, 10W-40

NOTE:
Recommended engine oil classifica-
tion; API Service "SE" or "SF" if not
available, "SD".
Be sure no foreign material

AUGER GEAR OIL
Replacement
-
·Be sure the main switch key
and spark plug lead are re-
moved or disconnected be-
fore replacement.
·Be sure the auger and im-
peller have stopped before
replacement.
1. Place an oil pan under the gear
case. Remove the oildrain plug
so that the oil can be complete-
ly drained.
2. Check the drain plug gasket. If
damaged, replace it.
CD Gasket
3. Add gear oil.
Recommended Oil:
SAE #90
Gear Oil Quantity:
80 cm3 (2.8 Imp OZ,
2.7 US OZ)

4. Reinstall the oil drain plug.
Drain Plug:
31 Nm (3.1 m-kg,
22.4 ft-Ib)
NOTE:
Recommended gear oil classifica-
tion; APIService "SE" or "SF" ifnot
available, "SD".
·Be sure no foreign material
enters the crankcase.
·Place the machine so that the
handlebar is up and auger
housing is down when ad-
ding gear oil.
·Be sure the machine is se-
curely placed.

SKID (Auger Clearance)
ADJUSTMENT

1. Placethe machine on a level sur-
face and loosen the skid nut.
2. Raise or lower the skid to adjust
the auger clearance between the
lowest auger edge and a level
surface.
Standard Auger Clearance:
5 mm (0.2 in)
CD Skid

NOTE:
·Use the standard clearance for
smooth concrete or asphalt
roads.
·Increase the clearance for stone
or gravel roads.
3. Tighten the skid nuts.
NOTE:
Be sure the skid bottom is in com-
pletecontact with the levelsurface.

FOOT PEDAL (Auger Height)
ADJUSTMENT
4-Stage Position
1. Shift the shift lever to "Neutral"
position.
2. Hold the handlebars with both
hands while stepping lightly on
the foot pedal.
3. Raise or lower the handlebar to
adjust the foot pedal position.

2nd groove from the top
CD Foot pedal

NOTE:
·Lower the foot pedal position to
increase the auger height.
·Shift the foot pedal to a lower
position when reversing the
machine.

and nuts.
2. Raiseor lower the scraper to ad-
just the scraper height between
the scraper edge and a level
surface.
Standard Scraper Height:
5 mm (0.2 in)

·Use the standard height for

3. Tighten the scraper bolts and
nuts.
NOTE:
Besurethe scraperedgeis parallel
to the level surface.

AUGER SHEAR BOLT
REPLACEMENT

·Be sure the main switch key
and spark plug lead are re-
moved or disconnected be-
fore replacement.
·Be sure the auger and im-
peller have stopped before
replacement.
Replace the auger shear bolts when
the auger does do not rotate even
though the impeller is rotating.
1. Remove the snow caught on the
auger.
2. Remove the broken shear bolts. .
..
3. Install the new shearbolts on the
auger and auger shaft.
NOTE:
Usethe spareshear bolts in your tool
kit.
