IMPORTANT SAFETY INFO
GENERAL WARNINGS
Please read this entire manual before installation and use of the pellet fuel-burning
appliance. Failure to follow these instructions could result in property damage, bodily
injury or even death.
Contact local building or fire officials about restrictions and installation inspection
requirements in your area.
This grill is for outdoor use only. DO NOT use it in any enclosed area.
DO NOT store or use combustible materials or liquids near this appliance.
Keep children away while it is in use.
Maintain a safe distance between your grill and any combustible material.
DO NOT move your grill while operating or while it is hot. Wait until the grill is
completely cold.
If a grease fire occurs, turn “off”and leave lid closed until the fire is extinguished. DO
NOT unplug the power cord. DO NOT throw water on it. DO NOT try to smother the
fire.
Clean and maintain your grill after each use.
DO NOT use your grill on rainy days.
DO NOT touch any part of your grill while it is hot. Serious bodily injury could result.
We suggest the use of heat-resistant gloves when operating this grill.
We suggest that you should wrap the Grease Drain Pan with heavy-duty aluminum
foil before using because it is easy to clean.
For convenient and safe assembly, use at least two people to assemble the grill.
Make sure the power cord is disconnected before performing any service or
maintenance.

DO NOT place anything heavy on top of hopper lid. It is not a shelf and is a tip hazard.
Never use gasoline, gasoline-type lantern fuel, kerosene, charcoal lighter fluid, or
similar liquids to start or ‘freshen up’ a fire in this appliance. Keep all such liquids
well away from the appliance when in use.
Do not use accessories not specified for use with this appliance.
NOTE: A MAJOR CAUSE OF FIRES IS FAILURE TO MAINTAIN REQUIRED
CLEARANCES (AIR SPACES) TO COMBUSTIBLE MATERIALS. IT IS OF
UTMOST IMPORTANCE THAT THIS PRODUCT BE INSTALLED ONLY IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THESE INSTRUCTIONS.

PELLET RESTRICTIONS
This grill is designed for use of wood pellets only designed for burning in wood pellet
grills. Do Not Use Pellet Fuel Labeled As Having Additives.
We suggest that you use Z GRILLS BBQ WOOD PELLETS, which are specifically
made to work in our grills. There is no guarantee that other brands of pellets are
suitable for use in Z GRILLS. And Z GRILLS assumes no liability for any loss, damage
or injury caused by the use of any other brands of pellets.
Always keep the Pellet Hopper dry, the wood pellets will expand greatly, break apart
and even jam the feed system if the pellets get wet or are exposed to high humidity.
CARBON MONOXIDE WARNING
Follow these guidelines to prevent this colorless, odorless gas from poisoning you,
your family or others.
Know the symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning: headache, dizziness, weakness,
nausea, vomiting, sleepiness, and confusion. Carbon monoxide reduces the blood’s
ability to carry oxygen. Low blood oxygen levels can result in loss of consciousness
and death.
See a doctor if you or others develop cold or flu-like symptoms while cooking or in
the vicinity of this appliance. Carbon monoxide poisoning, which can easily be
mistaken for a cold or flu, is often detected too late.
Alcohol consumption and drug use increase the effects of carbon monoxide
poisoning.
Carbon monoxide is especially toxic to mother and child during pregnancy, infants,
the elderly, smokers, and people with blood or circulatory system problems, such as
anemia, or heart disease.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
PARTS DIAGRAM

★THE INSTALLATION OF HOPPER SIDE HANDLE
Take out the screws that come pre-installed on the Hopper Side Handle (28) mounts.
Attach the Hopper Side Handle (28) to the mounting holes of the hopper and tighten the
screws with Screwdriver(A).

1. MOUNTING THE BODY FRAME TO THE CHAMBER
1.Unpackalltheitems,includingthepartspackedintheGrillChamber(1).Turnthebody
upsidedownandplaceupontheoriginalStyrofoampackingmaterialfromthecarton.
(CAUTION: Grill is heavy and requires two people to lift.)
2. Take the Right & Left Leg (17)(18)(22)(24) and use the Bolt (C) to assemble the grill body
throughtheholes.Thefrontandrearareassembledinthesameway.Asshown.
3.PlacetheBottomPlate(21)inthemiddlepositionofthefourlegs,attachtheBottomPlate
(21)onLegsbyusingtheBolt(C).Thefourpositionsareinstalledinthesamemanner.As
shown.
4.PushtheAxle(20)throughtheholeinthelegsandthenthroughthewheel(19)asshown.
TheCapNut(G)areusedtosecurethewheelassemblyinplace.Repeatfortheother
wheel.

2.INSTALLING THE CHAMBER HANDLE TO THE LID
1. Lift the Grill Assembly, turn, and place on the floor.
2. Take out the Bolt and Gasket that come pre-installed on the Lid(11) and then
through the lid (11) and Handle Guide (10). Handle should sit inside the depression in
the guide. Thread Bolts into Handle (9) and tighten with Wrench (B).
3.INSTALLINGTHESMOKESTACKANDCHIMNEYCAP
1. UseBolt(F)throughtheholesofSmokeStack (14) andSmokeStackGasket(15),
alignthe holeofgrillbody,then attachtheGasket (D)andHexagonNut(E).Finallyuse
Wrench(B)totightenthem.Asshown.
2.TightentheChimneyCap(13)ontheSmokeStackAssembly(14).Notethatthechimney
isverticalandthentightened.

4.INSTALLING THE HEAT BAFFLE
Place thelowerbracketof theHeat Baffle (6)into thegroove of thefeeder.
5.INSTALLINGTHE GREASEDRAIN PAN
Installthe GreaseDrainPan(5)overtheHeatBaffle(6)facingdownward tofitontothe
locatingbracketssothatthegreasecanflowintotheGrease DrainTube.

6.INSTALLING THE COOKING GRATE AND WARMING RACK
InstallthePorcelainGrill(4)andWarmingRack(3)intotheChamber.
7.HANG ON THE GREASE BUCKET
LocatedtheGreaseDrainTubewhichisontherightsideoftheChamber,thenhangthe
GreaseBucket(16)onthehook.

INITIAL FIRING INSTRUCTIONS
Pleasereadthismanualcarefullyandfollowitstepbystepbeforestartingyour
Z Grills for the first time and each time the grill runs out of pellets.
1.RemovethePorcelainGrills,GreaseDrainPanandHeatBafflefromtheinteriorofthe
grill.
2.OpenthePelletHopperLid,makesuretherearenoforeignobjectsintheAugerand
Hopper.
3.WiththeSwitchintheOFF(O)position,plugthepowercordintoa110VoltACgrounded
outlet.
4.Turn on your Z Grill and turn the Temperature Dial to the SMOKE position. Please check
thefollowingthings:
(WARNING: Please do not touch it!)
ConfirmtheAugeristurning.(Waitfor1-2minutes.)
HoldyourfingersabovetheFirepottoconfirmthefanisblowingairthroughtheFirepot.
Thehotrodwillheatupandyoushouldbeabletosensetheheatcomingfromit.(Ittakes
approximately1-2minutes.)
YoushouldseeatemperaturenumberdisplayedonyourLEDDISPLAY.Ifyousee
something different displayed it is an ERROR CODE. NOTE: PLEASE SEE
TROUBLESHOOTINGFORDETAILSONERRORCODES.
5.TurntheTemperatureDialtoSHUTDOWNCYCLE.
(Pleasenotethedraftfanwillstayonfor10minutesinthismode.)
6.FillthePelletHopperwithPellets.ThenturntheTemperatureDialtoHIGH.Ittakessome
timeforthePelletstotravelthroughthetube,whenthePelletsstarttodrop,turnthe
TemperatureDialtoSHUTDOWNCYCLE.Leavegrilluntilitshutsoffautomatically.
7.TurntheTemperatureDialtoSMOKE.AllowthePelletstocometofullflame.Onceflames
are coming out of the Firepot, turn the Temperature Dial to SHUT DOWN CYCLE and let the
grillcooldown.
[WesuggestthatyoushouldwraptheGreaseDrainPanwithheavy-dutyaluminum
foilbeforeusingbecauseitiseasytoclean.]
8.Placecomponentsbackinplace.OpenthelidandturntheTemperatureDialtoSMOKE.A
fewminuteslater,whenyouseewhitish-graysmokecomingoutofthegrill,closethelidand
turntheTemperatureDialtoanycookingsettingdesired.
9.Set Temperature Dial to HIGH and let grill run for 45 minutes at this setting to rid it of any
foreignmatter.Thisstepmustbedonebeforecookinganyfood.
10.Pleasepreheatthegrillfor10minutesbeforeaddingfood.Thismakesyourgrillheatup
fasterandquicklyreachyourdesiredcookingtemperature.Addingfoodsoonerwillslow
downtheheatingprocess.
ALWAYSSTARTTHEGRILLONSMOKESETTINGWITHTHELIDOPEN!
AfterthePelletsareignited,youcanturntheTemperatureDialtoanycookingtemperature
desired.Pleasedon’tturntheTemperatureDialtoSHUTDOWNCYCLEwhileinuse.

SUBSEQUENT START-UP
ATTENTION:IfthegrillfailstolightorthefireintheFirepotgoesoutwhilecooking,itisvital
to follow these steps when sufficient pellets are still in the Pellet Hopper. Failure to follow the
stepsmaycauseahazardous“over-firing”ofyourgrillduetoanexcessofunburnedpellets
intheFirepot.
1.TurnOFFtheapplianceandunplugthePowerCord.Afterthegrillcoolsdown,removeall
food,thePorcelainGrills,GreaseDrainPanandtheHeatBaffle.
2.RemoveallunburnedpelletsandashfrominsideandaroundtheFirepot(Seeinstruction
for proper handling and disposal of ash).
3.Plug the Power Cord and turn on the grill. Pellets should fall into the Firepot and the Hot
Rodshouldbegintoheat(itwillstarttoturnred).
4.Ifthisstepissuccessful,youwillseeflamescomeoutoftheFirepot.
ThenturntheTemperatureDialtoSHUTDOWNCYCLEandletitcooldown.Next,put
components back in place, open the lid and turn the Temperature Dial to SMOKE. Wait a
fewminutesuntilyouseewhitish-graysmokecomingoutofthegrill,thenclosethelidand
turntheTemperatureDialtoanycookingsettingdesired.
5.Ifthisstepisnotsuccessful,seeTROUBLESHOOTINGorcontactZGRILLSTechnical
Supporttohelpdiagnosetheproblem.
SHUTDOWNCYCLE
Augerturnsoff
Fancontinuestorunfor10minutes
Afteryouhavefinishedcooking,turntheTemperatureDialtoShutdownCycleposition.The
function of this setting is to leave the Draft Induction Fan running for 10 minutes to burn
redundantpelletsinthefirepot.Afterthefanrunsfor10minutes,thefanwillstopandthe
controllerwillpoweroff.
CAUTION:Themainpowerswitchwillshutthepowerofftothecontrollerandthe
TemperatureDialKnobswitchwillcutoffpowertothegrillcomponentsonly.Whenservicing
thecontrolleroranypartsensurethatthepowersupplyisdisconnectedbyunpluggingthe
grilltoavoidashockhazard.

OPERATING TIPS
1.Likeallgrills,theactualtemperatureofthisgrillandthecookingtimeswillbeaffectedby
external temperature, humidity, wind conditions, quality of pellets, etc.
2.Itisbeneficialtoshelteryourgrillfromthewind.Thiswillaidintemperatureoutput,heat
retentionandheatrecoverytimewhenthelidisopen.
3.Donotopenthelidfrequently,itwillincreaseyourcookingtime.Youcanopenthelid
whenyouwantthegrilltocooldownquickly.
4.Please preheat the grill for 10 minutes before adding food. This will allow your grill to heat
upquicklyandreturntoyourdesiredtemperatureoncefoodisadded.
5.Nevermoveyourgrillwhileinuse.
6.NeverputwaterintothePelletHopperorFirepot.
7.WARNING:NEVERADDPELLETSTOTHEFIREPOTDIRECTLY.ITISDANGEROUS.
If you run out of pellets and lose your fire while cooking, let the grill cool down and start
againwiththeINITIALFIRINGINSTRUCTIONS.
8.WerecommendyoucoveryourGreaseDrainPanwithheavy-dutyaluminumfoiland
changeitfrequently.ThisisthesimplestwaytocleanyourGreaseDrainPan.Failureto
cleantheGreaseDrainPan,V-shapedGreaseDrainandGreaseDrainTubemaycause
greasefires.Ifthissituationhappens,turntheTemperatureDialtoSHUTDOWNCYCLE
andkeepthelidopenuntilthefireiscompletelyout.ATTHESAMETIME,BECAREFUL
NOT TO BURN YOURSELF. When the grill is completely cool, clean any grease
accumulationfromtheV-shapedGreaseDrainandtheGreaseDrainPan.Replacethefoil
ontheGreaseDrainPan.Thenrestartthegrillandresumecooking.

MAINTENANCE & CLEANING
YourZGRILLrequiresregularmaintenance.
Make sure your grill is OFF, unplugged and completely cold before performing any
maintenanceandcleaning.
Grease
1.WithregularuseyourgrillwillaccumulategreaseontheFlueLining,theGreaseDrain
Tube,theV-shapedGreaseDrainandtheGreaseDrainPan.Alwaysbesuretheseareas
arecleanandfreeofgreaseanddebris.Youshouldcheckandcleantheseareasregularly
to reduce the risk of fire.
2.Itiseasiertoremoveaccumulatedgreasewhenthegrillisstillwarm(nothot).
BE CAREFUL NOT TO BURN YOURSELF. Heat-resistant gloves are recommended.
IftoomuchgreaseisallowedtobuildupintheV-shapedGreaseDrainorisallowedtoplug
theGreaseDrainTube,agreasefirecouldresult.Itisnecessarytocleanthesearea
regularly.YoucanscarpthegreaseaccumulationfrominsidetheV-shapedGreaseDrain
andGreaseDrainTubebyusingastiff,nonmetallictool.Muchoftheloosenedgreasecan
bepusheddownthroughtheGreaseDrainTubeandfallintotheGreaseBucket.Wipeup
remaining grease residue with paper towels or disposable rags.
FluePipe(SmokeStack)
RemovetheChimneyCapAssembly,cleanitwithwarmsoapywater.Scrapethecreosote
andgreaseaccumulationfrominsideoftheverticalandhorizontalsectionsoftheFluePipe
byusingastiff,nonmetallictoolsuchasawoodenpaintstirstick.Oncethecreosoteand
greaseresiduehasbeenloosenedfromtheFluePipeLining,muchofitcanbecleanedwith
papertowelsordisposablerags.Donotspraywaterorotherliquidcleanersontotheinside
of the grill.
Outsidesurfaces
1.Usewarmsoapywatertowipeawaygrease.Donotuseovencleaner,abrasivecleansers
orabrasivecleaningpadsontheoutsidegrillsurfaces.
2.ItishighlyrecommendedthatyouuseZGRILLSCovertoprotectyourgrill.
3.Youcanuseahigh-qualitycarwaxontheoutsidesurfacesofyourgrilltoprotectit’sfinish.
Internalcomponent
1.TocleanthePorcelain-coatedGrillGrateswerecommendusingalong-handledcleaning
brushdesignedforPorcelain-coatedGrates.
2.ItisrecommendedthatyoucleanyourGrillGratesaftereachuse.
3.CleantheinnerRTDtemperatureprobeaftereachuse.

Ash
Clean the ash from the interior of the grill periodically. If excessive ash is in the firepot, it may
causethefiretogoout.ThisisespeciallytrueintheSMOKEsetting.Ashopvacisan
excellenttooltouseforremovingtheash.WARNING:MAKESURETHEGRILLFIREIS
OUT, THE UNIT IS OFF, UNPLUGGED AND COLD BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO CLEAN
ASH FROM THE GRILL.
