Quick Start Guide
I. Network Configuration
11MbpsWireless LANCF CardisanIEEE802.11/802.11b compliantCFType IDSSS wireless
LAN adapter.It fullysupports wireless networkingunder Windows2000/XP/CE.
¨ 11MbpsWireless CF Cardcanbe operatedinAd-Hoc orInfrastructurenetworkconfigurations.
Ad-Hoc mode allows11MbpsWireless LAN CFCard usersto joinaBasicService Set(i.e.,
peer-to-peermode, withoutaccess point). Infrastructuremode allows 11MbpsWireless LAN
CF Card users to join an Extended Basic Service Set(i.e., connect to accesspoint)

Installation of the 11MbpsWirelessLANCFCardunderCE 3.0/Pocket PC2002
1. Establishaconnection betweenhost PC and PDA(onlyfor hand-held)device by Microsoft
Active Sync program.
2. Insertandrun SanDisk AutoRun ProgramSource CD-ROM/PocketPC2002 toinstall
thedriver and utility.
3. Once SanDisk ConnectPlusFront Pageappears,click on ‘Installation’
4. Followingthenecessary prompts. OnceSanDisk ConnectPlusFront Pagere-appears, click
‘Exit’
5. Click ‘OK’and resetyour Pocket PC accordingly.
6. Insertthe 11MbpsWireless LANCompactFlashCard into the compact flashslotofyour
PDA(onlyforhand-held). The PDA(onlyforhand-held)will auto-detect theWireless
LAN Compact Flash Card and automaticallyinstall the correspondingdriver.

7. AssignanIP address toyour Wireless LAN CompactFlashCard.Youmayeither choose
to giveafixedIP address or havetheWireless LAN CompactFlash Card automatically
obtainanIP addressfromyour DHCP server.SettheProxyserver,DNS, WINS ifneeded
(Mostof IP addressesare automaticallyassigned.)
8. Resetyour PDA(onlyfor hand-held) to completethe installation.

Caveat
n WhenthePocketPC is idle (not inuse) withoutA/Cpowerbeingpresent, itishighly
advisedtoremovethe 11MbpsWireless LAN CFCardinorder toprevent from
complete batterydrain.
n Due toWinCE'snatureofthefirst applicationatpower-onresumingtothatatpower-off,
if you arestuckatthe utility program,you mayuse the PDA's(onlyforhand-held) reset
bottom to terminate it.And activate it again when needed.
n Sometimes, your wireless connection toAPmay disconnectforanyreason. Youcan
reset andforce aconnectionrequestbygoingto utilityprogram,thenselect
"Configuration", check parameters, then select "Apply" to force a re-scan.
n If your device roamstoanewAPwhichisinadifferent subnet,you mayneed the
followingtwoactions: (1)Unplugandre-insert theWireless LANCompact FlashCard,
or (2) Hard reset your devicetoforce anexecution of"release andrenew" ofan
re-assignment of IP address in aDHCP AccessPointenvironment.
IV. Wireless LANCF Card and UtilityInstallation underWindows XP/2000/NT/98/ME
Installation of the11Mbps WirelessLANCF Card under WindowsXP
1. If your PChas acompactflashtype Islot,simplyinsert the Wireless LANCFCardintothe
CF slot.If not,usea CF/PCMCIA Adapter as described in the next procedure.
2. Firmlyinsert the11MbpsWirelessLAN CF Card intothe CF/PCMCIAAdapter,figured as
below.Theninsertthe11MbpsWireless LANCF CardintothePCMCIA slot andstart
Windows.

3. Windows will auto-detect theWireless LANCF Cardanda“
FoundNew Hardware
Wizard”windowwill showup.
4. Select“
Install fromalistorspecific(Advanced)”andinsertthe SanDiskAutoRun
Program CD-ROM intothe CD-ROM drive. Checkthe CD-ROMdrive item and clickon
Next to install the driver.
5. Once SanDisk Connect Plus Front Pageappears, click on Installation
6. Select Windows/92/ME/2000/XP
7. Selectthenecessaryprompts, especiallyclick‘Yes’toproceedtoinsertMicrosoftHotfixfor
Windows XP
8. The windows willfind“
IEEE 802.11Wireless LAN/CF Card”.Clickon Next to
continue.
9. Click Finish to completethe installation.
AfterinstallingtheWireless LANCFCard,theWindowsXP will displaya“Wireless Network
Connection # ”message.
Clickonthemessageandthe “AutomaticWireless Network Configuration” will thenappear
automaticallyandallowusers toconnecta wireless infrastructure network(Access Point),shownas
follows:
Youmayclickthe Advanced buttontomake advancedconfigurationforthe 11MbpWireless LAN
CF Card,shown asbelow.

Formore informationon usingtheautomaticwireless network configuration pleasereferto
Windows XP Help file.
However,the WLANUtility,whichcomes withtheWireless LAN CF Card,provides you more
toolstoconfigure the 11MbpsWireless LAN CF Card and monitor the wireless connection.For
more informationoninstallingandusingthe WLANutility,please refertothefollowingsections
“Installation of the WirelessLAN Utility”and “Usageof the WLAN Utility”.
Note: Touse the WLAN utility under WindowsXP,you needtodisable the
AutomaticWirelessNetwork Configuration first. Stepsare described as follows:
n Rightclick the Network Connections icon. Select Properties.
n Go to the WirelessNetworks tab.
n Uncheckthe“Use Windows toconfiguremywireless network settings”check
box and click the OK button (see the abovepicture).
