Chapter 6 BIOS Setup
BIOS (Basic Input and Output System) through the motherboard on the CMOS chip, the
system records the hardware device settings parameters. The main function is POST (Power-On
Self-Test), save the system settings and load the operating system. BIOS contains the BIOS
setup program, for users to set their own system parameters, so that the computer work or
perform a specific function.
The power required to memorize CMOS data is supplied by the lithium battery on the
motherboard, so that when the system is powered off, the data is not lost and the system can read
the setup data the next time the power is turned on again.
To enter the BIOS Setup program, the power is turned on, the BIOS in the POST, press the
<Delete> button to enter the BIOS Setup program main screen.
When you need to update the BIOS, you can use Gigabyte's unique BIOS update method: Q-Flash
or @BIOS.
Q-Flash is a software that can update the BIOS in the BIOS setup program, allowing users
to easily update or back up the BIOS without having to enter the operating system.
@BIOS is the Windows operating system can update the BIOS software, through the
Internet connection, download and update the latest version of the BIOS.
Updating the BIOS has its potential risk, and if you use the current version of the BIOS is not
a problem, we recommend that you do not update the BIOS. To update the BIOS, please be
careful to avoid improper operation and cause damage to the system.
We do not recommend that you change the settings of the BIOS Setup program at will, as
this may result in system instability or other unpredictable results. If the system is unstable or
does not turn on due to a setup error, try clearing the CMOS settings data to restore the BIOS
settings to the factory defaults. (Clear the CMOS settings, refer to Chapter 2 - "Load Optimized
Defaults", or refer to Chapter 1 - "Battery", "CLR_CMOS Jumper".)
5-1 Enter CMOS SETUP Settings
After the power is turned on, when the BIOS starts POST (Power On Self Test), press <Del>
to enter the AMI BIOS's CMOS SETUP main screen.
If you can not press <Del> in the POST process to enter CMOS SETUP, you can press <Ctrl> +
<Alt> + <Del> to start or press the Reset button on the chassis to reboot again into the POST
program, then Press <Del> to enter the CMOS SETUP program.
