Bedienungsanleitung
1. Sicherheitshinweise
1. Lesen Sie die Bedienungsanleitung vor Gebrauch aufmerksam durch.
2. Alle Warnhinweise auf der Box und in dieser Anleitung müssen genau beachtet werden.
3. Die Box darf nicht in der Nähe von Wasser (Waschbecken, Badewanne, feuchter Keller, Swimming-Pool usw.)
benutzt werden.
4. Die Box darf nicht in der Nähe von Hitzequellen (z.B. Heizkörpern) betrieben werden.
5. Plätze, an denen die Box Staub oder Vibrationen ausgesetzt ist, sollten vermieden werden.
6. Das Eindringen von Gegenständen und Flüssigkeiten in das Gehäuse ist zu vermeiden.
7. Zum Schutz vor elektrischem Schlag dürfen nur solche Netzsteckdosen benutzt werden, bei denen ein Freiste-
hen der Kontakte ausgeschlossen ist.
8. Die Box darf nur mit einer korrekten Schutzerdung betrieben werden, keinesfalls sollte die Schutzerdung un-
terbrochen werden.
9. Das Netzkabel muß so verlegt werden, daß ein Quetschen durch Auftreten oder durch Gegenstände ausge-
schlossen ist.
Das Netzkabel ist besonders am Netzstecker und an der Stelle des Geräteeintritts vor mechanischer Belastung
zu schützen.
10. Plätze, an denen die Box eine schräge- oder unstabile Unterlage hat, sollten vermieden werden.
11. Der Benutzer darf keine Wartungs- oder Servicearbeiten durchführen.
Alle Wartungs- und Servicearbeiten müssen von qualifiziertem Fachpersonal durchgeführt werden.
12. Bewahren Sie diese Bedienungsanleitung für zukünftiges Nachschlagen auf.

4. Anschlüsse (Abb.3)
Eingang:
Der symmetrische XLR-Eingang (female) „BALANCED
INPUT (1)“ ist für Mikrofonpegel oder Linepegel
ausgelegt. Sie können den Eingang symmetrisch oder
unsymmetrisch betreiben.
Der Eingang hat eine sehr hohe Gleichtaktunterdrückung
und ist vor elektrostatischen Entladungen geschützt. Ein
spezieller HF-Absorber schützt erstens die interne
Elektronik und zweitens das angeschlossene Gerät von
welchem das Signal kommt, vor Hochfrequenz.
Ausgang:
Am symmetrischen XLR-Ausgang (male) „BALANCED
OUTPUT (3)“ können Sie das „Fullrangesignal“ abgreifen.
Dies ermöglicht das Verbinden von mehreren Systemen
(z.B. weitere Subwoofer Zeck VECTOR S3A oder anderen

Aktivsystemen von Zeck / siehe Abb.2). Das Direct Out Signal
hat einen Ausgangspegel von 0± 0,5dB relativ zum
Eingangssignal mit einer Ausgangsimpedanzvon200Ω.
System Connector:
Die „System Connector (2)“- Buchse ermöglicht es, die
Boxen der VECTOR-Serie zu einer 3-Wege-Aktivanlage
zusammenzufassen, ohne daß zusätzliche Frequenzweichen
benötigt werden.
Dafür benötigt man ein Stereo-Klinkenkabel, mit dem man
die „SYSTEM CONNECTOR“- Buchse und die „INSERT“-
Buchse wie z.B. der VECTOR T3A oder T2AM verbinden kann
(siehe Abb.). Dabei wird das Fullrange-Signal, welches das
gesamte Frequenzspektrum des Audio-Signals enthält, von
der VECTOR T3A oder T2AM an die VECTOR S3A gesendet.
Während das Signal nun die internen Frequenzweichen der
S3A passiert, wird es in einen Tief- und einen Mitten-
/Hochtonbereich aufgespalten.
Der Tieftonbereich wird direkt von der S3A übertragen und
der Mitten/Hochtonbereich wird wieder über das Stereo-
Klinkenkabel zurückgesendet. Die VECTOR T3A oder T2AM
teilen dieses Signal nochmals bei 1,8kHz in einen Mitten-
und einen Hochtonbereich auf.
5. Aktivsektion
Endstufen / Frequenzweiche:
Die 300W Class-D-Endstufe für den 12“ Tieftöner wird
unterhalb einer Trennfrequenz von 120Hz angekoppelt.
Durch diese intern festgelegte und optimale Einstellung der
Trennfrequenz sind weitere Einstellungsarbeiten nicht mehr
notwendig.
Limiter:
Der elektronische Limiter funktioniert automatisch. Sobald
dieser im Einsatz ist, leuchtet die „LIMITER ACTIVE-LED (5)“
auf. In diesem Fall sollte das Eingangssignal soweit zurück-
genommen werden, daß die LED gerade nicht mehr leuchtet.
Der Limiter sollte nicht mit einem Gain verwechselt werden.
Es wird in der Elektronik der S3A das Eingangssignal
detektiert und als Referenz verwendet.
In der S3A wird das thermische Verhalten des Lautsprechers
simuliert und als Referenz für den elektronischen Limiter
verwendet. Der Limiter „weiß“ also immer, welche Schwing-
spulentemperatur real vorhanden istund kann dementsprechend
die Leistung zumTieftönerbegrenzen. Durch diese Schutzmaß-
nahme wird der Tieftöner vor Überlastung oder Zerstörung
geschützt.
Steller:
Durch den „VOLUME-Steller (4)“ kann die Lautstärke
eingestellt werden. Der „BASS ENHANCE-Steller (6)“
ermöglicht das Absenken bzw. Anheben des Bassignals um
± 6dB bei 85Hz.

Netzanschluß:
Über den „MAINS INPUT (9)“ wird das Gerät an das Netz
(230V / 50Hz bzw. 60Hz) angeschlossen. Der„POWER ON-
Schalter (8)“ schaltet das Gerät ein. Sobald die „POWER
ON-LED (7)“ leuchtet, ist die S3A funktionsbereit.
Ebenfalls wurde ein unter neuesten Gesichtspunkten
entwickelter EMV-Filter eingebaut, der hochfrequente
Störungen vom Netz fernhält.
6. Modulschacht
Der Modulschacht ermöglicht das Einbauen von zusätzlichen
Modulen wie: Line-Delay und Monitor-Modul sowie das
Drahtlos-System Zeck d.a.i.sy.

VECA1: Kippschutz für Monitoranwendung
Dieser steckbare Kunststoff-Fuß gibt der Box bei
Monitoranwendung einen stabilen Halt.
VEC12M1: Montagebügel für
vertikale Positionierung
Diese robuste Halterung wird
direkt an die Decke montiert.
VEC12M2:
Montagebügel für Längsachse
Diese robuste Halterung kann
direkt an die Wand oder die Decke
montiert werden.
Mit Hilfe des Montageadapters
VEC12M3 kann dieser Montage-
bügel z.B. an Traversen befestigt
werden. Dadurch wird ein Schwen-
ken um die Längsachse
ermöglicht.
Mit Hilfe des Montageadapters

1. Safety instructions
1. Before using the VECTOR S3A, study the instructions in this manual carefully.
2. All safety instructions in this manual and on the cabinet must be strictly followed.
3. Never use the VECTOR S3A near water or in a humid environment, e.g. near washbasins, bath tubs, swimming pools or in
damp rooms.
4. Never use the VECTOR S3A near heat sources (e.g. radiators) or in intense sunlight.
5. Environments where the VECTOR S3A is exposed to dust or vibrations should be avoided.
6. Do not allow objects or liquids to enter the cabinet.
7. For protection against electric shock, use only mains sockets that are absolutely proof against protruding contacts.
8. The VECTOR S3A must always be used with functioning protective earth. Never defeat or manipulate the protective earth
means of the VECTOR S3A.
9. Always run the mains cable in a way that any danger of damage, e.g. by pinching objects, is absolutely excluded. In
particular, protect both ends of the mains cable entering the mains plugs agains excessive tension.
10. Do not place the VECTOR S3A on surfaces that are tilted and/or unstable.
11. As a user, do not attempt to service the VECTOR S3A. Leave all repair work to qualified personnell. Zeck is nor liable for
any damage from unauthorized service performance.

4. Connections (Fig. 3)
Input:
The BALANCED INPUT (1) is equipped with a female XLR
jack and accepts microphone or line level signals. This
input can be operated balanced or unbalanced.
The input amplifier has a high common-mode rejection
(CMRR) and is safeguarded against electrostatic discharge.
A specially developed r.f. absorber protects the internal
circuits and the signal source from high-frequency oscilla-
tion.
Output:
The fullrange signal can always be obtained from the
BALANCED OUTPUT which is equipped with a female XLR
connector. This connector allows interconnection of sever-
al systems, e.g. more VECTOR S3A units or other active

Zeck systems (see Fig. 2). The direct output signal has a level
of 0dB ±5dB referred to the input signal at an output impe-
dance of 200 ohms.
System connector:
The SYSTEM CONNECTOR (2) jack provides a convenient way
to combine several VECTOR series cabinets for a 3-way active
PA system without having to use additional crossover units.
This setup requires a stereo phone jack cable for connection
of the SYSTEM CONNECTOR jack of the VECTOR S3A and
the INSERT jack of a VECTOR T3A or VECTOR T2AM cabinet
(see Fig.3). In this wiring, the fullrange signal from the
VECTOR T3A orVECTOR T2AM cabinetis sent to theVECTOR S3A
where the built-in active crossover divides it up into a
mid/highrange signal and a bass signal. The bass signal
remains inside the VECTOR S3A for further amplification and
the mid/highrange signal is sent back to the remaining cabinets
via the stereo cable. The built-in active crossover of the
VECTOR T3A or VECTOR T2AM again divides the mid/high-
range signal up into a midrange and a highrange signal at
1.8kHz.
5. Active section
Power amplifier / crossover unit:
The 300W digital Class-D power amplifier for the 12" bass
speaker has been optimized to amplify frequencies below
120Hz. As its factory-tuned frequency response guarantees
best results, no further adjustments are necessary.
Limiter:
The electronic limiter works automatically and has a LIMITER
ACTIVE LED for active-mode indication. When the LED flashes
up, the input signal level should be reduced until the LED
just stays dark.
This limiter works unlike other limiter circuits, which act
more or less like an automatic gain control. This circuit emu-
lates the thermal behavior of the speaker`s voice coil and
takes this virtual temperature as a reference for its limitation
algorithm. As this virtual temperature always corresponds
the real voice coil temperature, the limiter is able to protect
the speaker against overload or destruction.
Controls:
The VOLUME control (4) allows to adjust the overall output
volume of the VECTOR S3A. The BASS ENHANCE control (6)
works at 85Hz and allows to cut or boost the low-bass
response for ±6dB.
Mains supply:
The VECTOR S3A must be connected to a mains supply source
(230V ac 50/60Hz) via the MAINS INPUT (9) socket. The
POWER switch (8) activates the unit as indicated by the
POWER LED (7). A newly developed line filter prevents r.f.
interference to enter the mains.

Instructions de sécurité

4. Connections (Fig. 3)
Entrée:
L’entrée symétrique par XLR femelle „BALANCED INPUT“
(1) doit être alimentée par un signal de niveau ligne. La
source peut être symétrique ou asymétrique.
L’entrée possède une bonne réserve à la surcharge, et est
protégée contre les décharges électrostatiques (ESD). Un
filtre spécial protège en premier les électroniques, interne
et de la source, contre toutes perturbations hautes
fréquences (CEM).
Sortie:
La sortie symétrique par XLR mâle „BALANCED OUTPUT“
(3) met à disposition le signal pleine bande non filtré. Ceci
permet le raccordement de plusieurs systèmes, comme
d’autres subs ZECK VECTOR S3A ou d’autres systèmes

actifs (voir fig. 3). Le niveau de sortie disponible est à 0 dB
± 0, 5 dB du signal d’entrée, sous une impédance de source
de 200 Ohms.
System connector:
La prise „SYSTEM CONNECTOR“ (2) peut servir de
raccordement à d’autres systèmes de la série VECTOR, ou à
un système actif trois voies sans utilisation de filtre
additionnel.
Dans cette situation, on a besoin d’un câble équipé de Jacks
stéréos qui sert à relier la prise „SYSTEM CONNECTOR“ et la
prise „INSERT“ d’une enceinte VECTOR T3A ou T2AM (voir
fig. 3). Dans ce cas, le signal large bande, qui contient toutes
les fréquences du signal audio, est transmit de l’enceinte
VECTOR T3A ou T2AM vers la VECTOR S3A. Lors de son
passage dans le filtre actif interne à la S3A, le signal audio
est séparé en grave d’un côté et en médium-aigu de l’autre
côté.
Le grave est pris en charge directement par la S3A, alors que
le médium-aigu est renvoyé par la prise Jack stéréo. Les
VECTORS T3A ou T2AM redécoupent le signal en médium et
aigu avec une fréquence charnière de 1,8 kHz.
5. Section amplificatrice
Ampli de puissance :
L’amplificateur de 300W classe D pour le haut-parleur de 30cm
(12“) est alimentés via un filtre séparateur à 120Hz. Le choix
de cette fréquence de coupure, fixée en usine de manière
optimale, évite d’autres opérations de mise au point électro-
acoustique.
Limiteur :
Le limiteur électronique fonctionne automatiquement. Sa
mise en service est indiquée par l’allumage de la diode
„LIMITER ACTIVE-LED“ (5). Dans ce cas, il faut baisser le
niveau d’entrée de l’enceinte jusqu’à ce que cette diode
s’éteigne.
Le limiteur ne doit pas être pris pour un réglage de gain.
La S3A est équipée d’un simulateur électronique de
température des bobines mobiles des haut-parleurs. Ce
simulateur transforme cette température en un signal de
référence auquel le signal d’entrée est comparé. De ce fait,
le limiteur ‘connaît’ la température de la bobine mobile du
haut-parleur, et peut donc en déduire en situation la tenue
en puissance réelle du transducteur. Cette mesure de
protection évite au haut-parleur de grave des surcharges de
puissance ou des perturbations.
Boutons de réglages :
Le bouton „VOLUME“ (4) permet d’ajuster le niveau sonore,
alors que le bouton „BASS ENHANCE“ (6) de baisser ou de
relever le niveau de grave de ± 6dB à 85Hz.

Raccordement secteur:
On raccorde l’appareil au réseau électrique (230V / 50 à 60Hz)
viala prise „MAINS INPUT“ (9). L’interrupteur „POWERON“ (8)
met l’appareil en- ou hors tension. La mise sous tension est
indiquée par l’illumination de la diode „POWER ON“ (7).
L’entrée secteur est également équipée d’un filtre conforme
aux toutes dernières directives européennes en la matière
(CEM), qui atténue fortement toutes les perturbations
hautes fréquences présentes sur le secteur.
6. ‘Slot’ pour module d’extension
(optionnel)
Ce ‘slot’ permet l’installation de modules supplémentaires
tels que récepteur ZECK d.a.i.s.y., un module de contrôle et
une ligne à retard.
