rightontheedgeofclipping.Clippingisbadforspeakers
andshouldbeavoided.ItisokayiftheLEDblinks
occasionally.Itmeansthatthetransientpeaksofthe
musicarejusthittingthefulloutputoftheamplier.
02-Gaincontrol-Thesetwoknobscontrolthelevelsof
Channels1and2.Usually,thesecontrolsaresetall
thewayup.Afteryouhavesetthelevelsforthemixer
(orothersignalsource),adjusttheLevelcontrolson
theamplierasthenaladjustmenttosettheoverall
volumeforthesystem.
Instereoandmonomode,usebothlevelcontrolsto
controlthelevelsgoingtoeachspeaker.Inbridged
mode,turnthechannel2levelcontroldown,andjust
usethechannel1control.

Theconnectorsarewiredinparallel.(e.g.Channel1

parallelandthesameforchannel2).
Whentheamplierisusedinbridgedmonomodeuse
theoutputbridgelockingspeakerconnectororthetwo
redbindingposts.
04-Lockingpowersocket-Thisiswhereyouconnectthe
detachablelockingpowercable.Connecttheotherend
toa220-240V,50/60HzACoutlet.
05-Ampmode-Thisswitchdeterminestheinputsignal
routingwithintheamplier.Formostapplicationsstereo
willbeused.
Stereomode-Thisisthe"normal"wayofusingthe
amplier,inwhicheachchannelisfullyindependent.
Separatesignalsconnectattheinputs,thegainknobs
controltheirrespectivechannels,andseparatespeakers
connecttoeachoutput.
Examples:
•Two-channel(stereo)playback.
•Twoindependentmonosignals,suchasmainand
monitormixes.
•Bi-ampedoperation,withthelowfrequenciesin
Channel1andthehighsinChannel2.
Parallelmode-ThismodeisjustlikeStereomode,
exceptthattheinputsforChannel1andChannel2are
internallyconnectedtogether.Asignalintoanyinput
jackwillthereforedrivebothchannelsdirectly.Each
channel'sgaincontrolstillfunctionsasusual,andeach
channelfeedsitsownspeakerload.Youcanpatchthe
inputsignalontoadditionalampliersbyusinganyof
theremaininginputjacks.
Example:
•Onemonosignaldrivingbothchannels,with
independentgaincontrolforeachspeakersystem.
Bridgemode-Thismodecombinesthefullpower
capabilitiesofbothchannelsintoasinglespeaker
system.Theamplierinternallyre-conguressothat
bothchannelsoperateasaunit.Thisdeliversdoublethe
outputvoltage,resultinginfourtimesthepeakpower
andthreetimesthesustainedpowerintoasingle8-or
4-ohmspeakerload.Connectionsforbridgemonomode
aredifferenttothoseusedinStereoorParallelmode.
Examples:
•Drivingasingle8-ohmspeakerwiththecombined
4-ohmpowerofbothchannels.
•Drivingasingle4-ohmspeakerwiththecombined
2-ohmpowerofbothchannels.
Precautions:BridgeMonomodemakesitpossible
todrivethousandsofwattsintoasinglespeaker.
ACcurrentconsumptionwillusuallybehigher.Avoid
excessivesignallevel,andmakesurethewiringand
speakercanhandlethepower.
06-TheGainsetstheinputsensitivityoftheamplier
dependantonthesignalbeingsentfromthepre-ampor
mixeretc.
07-Thelowcutlterrollsoffsignalsbeloweither30Hzor
50Hz.Thisimprovesbassperformancebylimitingsub-
audioconemovement.Asarule,fullrangespeakers
willsoundbetterwiththelteringactivated.The50Hz
lterworkswellwithmostcompactfull-rangespeakers,
andhasaslightboostat100Hzforgreaterfullness.
The30Hzlterisintendedforsubwoofersandlarge
full-rangecabinets.The"off"positionshouldbeused
onlyforapplicationssuchasstudioplaybackmonitoring,
whereyouneedtoknowifthereareunwantedsub-audio
signalspresentinyourmix.
08-Circuitbreaker-Iftheamplierisoverdrivenora
seriousproblemoccurstheresettablecircuitbreaker
maybeactivated.Pushtoresetthecircuitbreaker
whennecessarytorestorepowertotheamplier.Ifthe
breakerwillnotreset,contactyournearestauthorised
repaircentreforassistance.

Rack installation
TheCDSeriesisbuiltfor19”racks.Therackyouuseshouldbea‘doubledoorrack’whereyoucan
openthefrontandrearpanel.Whenmountingtheamplierintotherack,pleasemakesurethatthere
isenoughspacearoundtheamplier.
Becarefulwhenmountingtheamplierintotherack.Puttheheaviestproductsintothelowerpart
oftherack.Beawarethatfasteningtheamplierwithfourscrewsonthefrontpanelisnotenough.
Iftheracksarebeingtransportedorusedformobileuse,additionallyfastentheproductsby
connectingtherearbracketswiththesideorgroundbarsoftherack.Inthisway,theamplier
cannotbepushedbackwards.Thefrontpanelisnotdesignedtoabsorbaccelerationforces
occurringduringtransportation.
Inputs
Shortcablesrunsimprovethesoundqualityremarkably.Inputcablesshouldbeshortanddirect,
sincehighfrequencieswillmostlybeabsorbedifthecablesareunnecessarilylong.Besidesthata
longercablemayleadtohummingandnoiseproblems.Ifthecablerunsareunavoidable,youshould
usebalancedcables.
Outputs
Thehighdampingfactorofyourampliersuppliesaclearsoundreproduction.
Unnecessarilylongandthincableswillinuencethedampingfactorandthusthelowfrequencies
inanegativeway.Inordertosafeguardgoodsoundquality,thedampingfactorshouldliearound50.
Thelongeracablehastobethethickeritshouldbe,asaminimum2.5m2shouldbeused,however
4.0m2or6.0m2isrecommended.
ConnectyourspeakersystemsviathelockingspeakerconnectorsortheBanana/Screwcombination
(red+,black-)
Connection to the mains
Connecttheamplieronlyafterhavingmadesurethatthecorrectvoltage(220-240V)issuppliedand
thatthegroundcableisearthed.ThisproductfallsunderClass1.Donotdetachthegroundcable.

Afterhavingconnectedyourampliertothemains,turnbothgaincontrolscounterclockwiseto
the“-80”position.Thelastproducttobeswitchedonisamplier.The“ON”LEDlightsupnow.
Ifitdoesnot,checkiftheamplierisconnectedtothemainscorrectly.
Afterhavingpoweredontheamplier,turnthegaincontrolsofyourampliertomid-position.
NowadjustthevolumewiththegaincontrolsCHAandCHB.
Allimportantoperatingmodesoftheamplierarearrangedonthefrontpanel.
Ifyouwanttoswitchoffthesystem,switch off the amplier rstinordertoavoid
acousticshocksonthespeakers.
