A smoothly rotating volume control permits finger-
tip adjustment of sound amplification for best h ea r ing
under varying acoustic conditions_ The on/off switch
is comb - ined with the volume control. Your hearing aid
wi ll be off when the arro w on the top of the case points
dir ectly to the word "Off" On the volume control knob.

The microphone grill on top of your new Zenith
hearing aid has been specifically designed to screen out
the biggest percentage of dirt and foreign particles.
To further this protection, Zenith offers a new
microphone hood as an accessory. Designed to blend
with the smooth l ines of your hearing aid, the micro·
phone hood can be quickly mounted by your Zenith
dealer and offers added protection against the intrusion
of foreign matter, particularly it the user is a young chi ld .

efficiently using the ZM401 battery. Your authorized
Zenith Hearing Aid Dealer keeps freah SUpplies 01 thiS
battery available for your convenience.
To

The Zenith Phone -
To operate, simply flick the switch from "M"
(microphone) to "T" (telephone) position, then couple
the telephone receiver as shown in the above illustration.
Magnet in your new hearing aid
enables you to "focus" on telephone c onversations by
shutting out other sounds picked up by the microphon e.
A new feature is the "8" position. This indicates
that both the microphon e and telephone coil are on at
the same time. It has practi c al applications in school,
hom e and office use.

volum e setting
The sound a mplification you will need depends
upon (1) degree of your hearing loss, and (2) ac ousti c
conditions in di ff e rent surroundings.
To find the volume setting that provides be st
performance under most conditions, foll ow this pro·
c edure. Always use a fresh battery. It is helpful to have
another person pr esent to assist in the adjustment of
your volume co nt r ol.
1. Have this person speak in a normal tone of
voice from a distance of 6 to 8 feet.
2. Slowly mov e yo ur Volume Control until you can
hear his or her voice clearly.
3. Do not move Volume Control beyond point
where you can hear words clearly. Some tend
to u se too much volume at first . Th is ca us es
distortion of sound . Alway s adjust to the lowest
c omfortable level.

how to care f or your he aringaid
1. AVOID EXCESSIVE HEAT
Never leave your aid in hot sunlight, on a radiator,
in a clo se d car, or near other sources of high tem-
perature. Our warranty does not co ver damage
caused by such abuse.
2, REMOVE BATTERY NIGHTLY
When batteries become exhausted, the chances of
their leaking and damaging your aid are increased.
Occasionally , however, even new batteries may leak
because of slight imperfections . Play safe by remov·
ing battery from aid each night and checking care-
fully for signs of leakage.
3. CLEAN TERMINALS WITH AMMONIA
If battery terminals or hearing aid contacts become
corroded, bri g hten them by rubbing with cloth dipped
in household ammonia. Should battery leakage occur,
remove fluid promptly with cloth dampened in
ammonia .
4. CLEAN CORD CONTACTS
Remove any cOrrosion that forms on cord plu. tar-

Your new hearing aid is supplied with either a
stock earmold, or with a soft plastic eartip , both of
which have been designed p ri marily for use in demon-
stratin g the i nstrument, and fo r temporary use unti l a
custom earmold can be obt ain ed.
Good aco u stic seal betw een ear and earmo ld is
so important th at a Zenith "Custom Earmold," made
especially to fit your ear an d ear cana l, is strongly r ec·
ommended. The Zenith Royal Velvet earmold of fle x-
ible material is especially designed for added comf ort
and proper acoustic seal.
