Overview
The PLA-470 connects a HomePlug AV powerline network,
which uses your electrical wiring, to your LAN (and Internet
gateway).
This Quick Start Guide covers the following:
1Hardware Connections
2Powerline Network
See the User’s Guide on the included CD for information on
how to set up security on the powerline network. If a screen
does not pop-up when you insert the included CD, use
Windows Explorer (My Computer) to go to the CD-ROM
(commonly drive D) and browse for the User’s Guide.

1 Hardware Connections
1Use an Ethernet cable to connect a LAN port on the PLA-
470 to an Internet gateway (for example a DSL modem).
2Use an Ethernet cable to connect another LAN port on the
PLA-470 to a computer.
3Use the included power cord to connect the POWER port
on the PLA-470 to a power outlet. This is also your
powerline connection.
"You do not need to use the ENCRYPT button. It
is reserved for future use.

1.1 Look at the LEDs (lights).
• The LED should be on.
• The (the number indicates the connected LAN port)
LED should be on or blinking.
•The is on, if the PLA-470 detects an existing HomePlug
AV powerline network that uses the same network password.
The default network password is HomePlugAV.
VIf none of the LEDs are on, unplug your device
and recheck your hardware connections.
The PLA-470 can now provide Internet access to devices
connected to its LAN ports.

2 Powerline Network
You can expand your network by connecting another
HomePlug AV powerline adapter to an outlet on the same
electrical circuit as the PLA-470.
In the figure above, computer Acan now access the Internet
via the powerline link and the PLA-470’s Internet connection.

Troubleshooting
If you are having trouble setting up your connections, make
sure:
• Your outlets are working properly. Unplug the PLA-470 and
plug in another electrical appliance that you know works.
• The Ethernet cables you are using are category 5 or higher.
Most cables are labeled with their specifications.
• All Ethernet cables are securely connected.
If the LED is off.
• Try plugging a second powerline adapter into an adjacent
power outlet (to the PLA-470) and see if the LED lights
up.
• Make sure that all your powerline adapters are HomePlug
AV compliant. The PLA-470 does NOT recognize or commu-
nicate with earlier versions of HomePlug adapters such as
HomePlug 1.0 or 1.0.1.

additional problem solving suggestions.

Datei des Benutzerhandbuchs.

1 Anschließen der Hardware
1Verbinden Sie mit einem Ethernet-Kabel einen LAN-Port
des PLA-470 mit einem Internet-Gateway (z. B. einem
DSL-Modem).
2Verbinden Sie mit einem Ethernet-Kabel einen anderen
LAN-Port des PLA-470 mit einem Computer.
3Schließen Sie den Netzanschluss (POWER) des PLA-470
mit dem mitgelieferten Netzkabel an eine Netzsteckdose
an. Diese Verbindung ist gleichzeitig die Powerline-
Verbindung.
"Die Taste ENCRYPT muss nicht verwendet
werden. Diese wird für zukünftige Zwecke
reserviert.

1.1 Das Gerät verfügt über LED-Anzeigen.
• Die -LED sollte leuchten.
• Die -LED (die Nummer steht für den angeschlossenen
LAN-Port) sollte leuchten oder blinken.
• Die leuchtet, wenn der PLA-470 ein bestehendes
HomePlug AV-Powerline-Netzwerk erkennt, das dasselbe
Netzwerkkennwort verwendet. Das Standard-Netzwerkken-
nwort ist HomePlugAV.
VWenn keine der LEDs leuchtet, prüfen Sie noch
einmal alle Kabelverbindungen.
Der PLA-470 bietet jetzt allen Geräten, die an seine LAN-
Ports angeschlossen sind, Zugriff auf das Internet.
