3M™ Surgical Clipper Professional 9681 a
Product Description
The 3M™ Surgical Clipper Professional 9681 is a cordless, rechargeable, battery-operated clipper
which is comprised of a clipper body, drop-in charger stand with cord (REF9682*), and single-use
blade assembly (REF9680). *9683, 9683B, 9684, 9685, and 9686: additional drop-in chargers
with cords.
Please report a serious incident that has occurred in relation to the device to 3M and the local
competent authority.
Indications for Use
The 3M™ Surgical Clipper Professional 9681 is intended to remove wet or dry body and head hair
from any patient by a healthcare professional in preparation for any medical procedure requiring
hair removal. It is intended for use in a hospital, clinic, ambulatory surgery center or other medical
facilities. It is not intended for home use. Not tested for use in mobile emergency medical services
(EMS) environments.
Warnings
WARNING: Indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in death or
serious injury.
Warning- to reduce the risks associated with fire and explosion, which if not avoided could result
in serious injury or death and/or property damage:
• Do not operate clipper where aerosol (spray) products, flammable anesthetic mixture with
air, nitrous oxide or oxygen administering equipment other than nasal or mask types are
being used.
• Do not use clipper on a patient whose clothing is saturated with flammable solutions such as
gasoline, fuel oil, solvents, etc.
• Avoid using around flammable alcohol or similar cleaning solution. If alcohol is used to
clean the clipper, assure that the clipper and surrounding area is ventilated of fumes before
plugging in the drop-in charger with cord or switching on the clipper.
Warning- to reduce the risks associated with hazardous voltage, which if not avoided could result
in death or serious injury:
• Do not attempt to plug or unplug the drop-in charger with cord from an electrical outlet with
wet hands.
• Unplug the drop-in charger cord before cleaning.
• Do not place or store a drop-in charger with cord where it can fall or be pulled into a tub or
sink of water.
• Do not retrieve a drop-in charger with cord that has fallen into or is submerged in water or
other solutions. Unplug cord from the wall outlet immediately.
• Never charge the clipper if the drop-in charger has a damaged cord or plug; if it is not
working properly, if it has been dropped or damaged, or if the drop-in charger has been
dropped into water.
• Do not put in fire or mutilate the battery pack during disposal as it may burst or release
toxic materials.
• Do not short circuit the battery pack by bridging the battery contacts with a metal or
conductive part as it may cause burns.
• Do not attempt to replace the battery pack. This could result in the risk of fire or
electric shock.
• Do not charge the clipper within 1.5 meters (4.9 feet) of the patient.
• Do not charge near water.

• Do not reuse the clipper blade assembly. Single patient use only.
• Always clean the clipper body between patients.

• Do not sterilize the clipper body, drop-in charger with cord, or blade assembly.
• Only use attachments recommended by the manufacturer.
• Always store the clipper and drop-in charger with cord in a moisture-free area.
• Do not attempt to replace the battery in the clipper.
• Do not tamper with the device’s internal components. There are no user serviceable parts
inside this device.
• Do not charge the clipper outdoors.
• Keep drop-in charger with cord away from heated surfaces.
• See rating plate on drop-in charger cord unit for proper wall outlet voltage.
• This device may cause (EMI) Electromagnetic Interference. If this occurs, separate product
from affected device.
• The use of accessories other than those specified may result in increased emissions or
decreased immunity of the clipper.
• Do not submerse the clipper in water or other solution deeper than 6 inches or longer than
15 minutes.
• Do not dismantle the clipper during the useful life of the clipper for this can affect the
watertight construction of the clipper.
Caution- to reduce the risk associated with environmental contamination, which if not avoided
may result in minor or moderate injury:
• At the end of product life, dispose of all components in accordance with your
governmental regulations.
• Dispose of batteries properly in accordance with your local, state, and/or
government requirements.
• Do not tamper with the device’s internal components. There are no user-serviceable parts
inside this device.
Caution- to reduce the risks associated with skin nicks and lacerations, which if not avoided may
result in minor or moderate injury:
• Do not use the clipper with a damaged or broken clipper blade assembly.
• Do not clip in a raking manner as this technique may damage the patient's skin.
Caution- to reduce the risk of burns, which if not avoided may result in minor or moderate injury:
• Blade temperature can reach upwards of 50°C (122°F) after prolonged use.
• Do not leave blade in the same location on skin for longer than one second.
• If using in temperatures >30°C to 35°C use a 30-minute-on followed by 20-minute-off
duty cycle.
User Responsibility
Only health care professionals or other appropriately trained individuals should use this equipment.
Health care professional should follow the “To Use the Clipper” portion of this document. Additional
training resources are available including: instructional online videos, a Clipper Skills Evaluation
form, and in-person clinical support. Contact 3M for further information.

Limited Warranty
This warranty is in lieu of any other warranty express or implied except as indicated below: This
3M™ Surgical Clipper Professional is warranted against any defects in material or workmanship for
a period of 2 years from the date of purchase*. If this surgical clipper is determined to be defective
within the warranty period, it will be replaced without charge by 3M. In the U.S., contact your local
3M Sales Representative or the 3M Health Care Helpline – 1 800 228.3957. Helpline personnel are
available Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM Central Time. After business hours, a
voice prompt system will take your product complaint information. International customers, please
contact your local 3M Subsidiary for necessary shipping labels and packing list. Please include a
description of the defect with the returned unit.
This warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, negligence, accident, abuse or alteration,
modification of the units by anyone other than 3M or affixation of any accessory not manufactured
by 3M or use of the surgical clipper with current or voltage other than that specified in this
instruction insert. Replacements after the warranty period will be made and charged to the customer
on the basis of rates which are available upon request.

Directions for Use
To Attach a Disposable Blade to the Clipper Body:
Make sure that the ON/OFF button is in the OFF position. After removing the lid of the clipper blade
assembly blister pack and without touching the blade assembly, hold the clipper body over the
clipper blade assembly (a). Slide the new clipper blade assembly into position until it clicks (b).
To Use the Clipper:
The patient’s skin should be clean. To turn the clipper on, simply push the ON/OFF button above
the LED battery gauge on the clipper to the ON position. The power indicator will light up to the
corresponding battery capacity (c).
LED Battery Gauge Operation
The top three LED light gauges will be green and the bottom two will be yellow. These gauges
indicate battery capacity. See (d) below. NOTE: When battery level is low, the lowest LED will blink
indicating re-charge is needed. The LEDs will also blink when in the charge stand indicating that the
clipper is charging. The level of charge can be determined by the light that is blinking at that time.

Use short, gentle strokes, holding the clipper blade assembly at a flat to slight angle to the patient’s
skin (e). For best results, clip against the direction of the hair growth. For contoured areas, stretch
the skin taut while clipping. There are several ways to grasp the clipper. Determine the most
comfortable technique that allows you to keep the clipper blade assembly at a flat to a slight angle
to the skin. This technique can be performed in a push or pull motion. Never rake the clipper over
the skin (f).

To Change Disposable Blade:
Push the ON/OFF button into the OFF position. Hold the clipper body in one hand. Position the
clipper over an appropriate waste receptacle with the blade facing downward. With your thumb,
push the blade release button to push the blade off the clipper body into waste receptacle (g).
NOTE: To reduce cross contamination between patients, remove the clipper blade assembly and
discard appropriately after each use.
Care and Cleaning of the Clipper Body:
The housing of the clipper body is made of durable plastic and is water resistant. It may be wiped off
with a damp cloth containing a small amount of alcohol, disinfectant, or a mild detergent solution. It
can also be rinsed under running water or submersed in a high level disinfectant solution. Approved
chemicals for use in cleaning include 70% alcohol, 2% bleach, Quaternary ammonium chloride,
or Chlor-clean solution. Allow to dry completely before placing clipper back into drop-in charger
or reusing.
Do not sterilize the clipper body or blade assembly.
Charging the 9681 Battery-Operated Clipper:
To charge the clipper:
1. Push the ON/OFF button to the OFF position.
2. Clean the clipper body before returning clipper to the drop-in charger, making sure the
clipper and charger contacts are clean and free of hair or other contaminants.
3. Connect the cord of the drop-in charger to an appropriate electrical outlet, making sure the
cord is not pinched or kinked.
4. To be certain that the 9681 clipper is fully charged, plug it in for 4 hours before its initial use
and every use thereafter.
5. We recommend leaving the clipper body in the drop-in charger in between uses. It cannot
be overcharged.
Storage/ Shelf Life/Disposal
Storage and transport conditions:

9681 Battery Pack Removal
The clipper body contains recyclable Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) batteries, which are not intended to be
replaced. When your rechargeable clipper reaches the end of its useful life, the battery pack must
be removed from the clipper and be recycled or disposed of properly in accordance with your local,
state, and/or government requirements. The disposal of Li-ion batteries as municipal solid waste
is prohibited.
The procedure below describes the removal of the battery pack for the purpose of proper disposal.
Discard the clipper after the battery pack has been removed.
1. Make sure that the ON/OFF button is in the OFF position.
2. Remove disposable clipper blade assembly.
3. Dry clipper and hands completely.
4. Remove the three housing screws.
5. Pull or pry the top and bottom housing apart from the top.
6. Pull motor and battery pack out.
7. Pull Li-ion battery out of the assembly.
8. Recycle battery pack or dispose of appropriately.

Indications d'utilisation
La tondeuse chirurgicale professionnelle 3M™ 9681 est conçue pour la tonte des poils et cheveux
secs ou humides de tout patient par un professionnel de santé afin de le préparer à tout type de
procédure chirurgicale exigeant une dépilation. Elle est destinée à être utilisée dans les centres
hospitaliers ou d'autres établissements de santé. Elle n’est pas prévue pour un usage domestique.
Elle n'a pas été testée pour être utilisée en situation d'urgence médicale.
Avertissements
AVERTISSEMENT : indique une situation dangereuse qui, si elle n’est pas évitée, peut provoquer la
mort ou une grave blessure.
Avertissement- Pour éviter tout risque d'incendie ou d'explosion pouvant entraîner des blessures
graves ou la mort et/ou des dommages matériels :
• Ne pas utiliser la tondeuse en même temps que des produits aérosols (sprays) ou des
équipements administrant un mélange inflammable anesthésique avec de l'air, de l'oxyde
d'azote ou de l'oxygène, autres que ceux administrés par le nez ou via un masque.
• Ne pas utiliser la tondeuse sur un patient dont les vêtements sont saturés de produits
inflammables tels que de l'essence, du fuel, des solvants, etc.
• Ne pas utiliser la tondeuse à proximité d'alcool ou d'une solution désinfectante inflammable.
Si la tondeuse est nettoyée à l'alcool, s'assurer que celle-ci ou ses environs immédiats sont
dénués de vapeurs avant de brancher le cordon d'alimentation du chargeur ou de mettre en
marche la tondeuse.
Avertissement- Pour éviter tout risque d’électrocution qui, s'il n'est pas évité, peut entraîner la
mort ou des blessures graves :
• Ne pas tenter de brancher ou de débrancher le cordon d'alimentation du chargeur sur une
prise électrique avec les mains humides.
• Débrancher le cordon du chargeur avant le nettoyage.
• Ne pas poser ou conserver le chargeur branché dans un endroit d'où il pourrait tomber ou
être poussé dans un bac ou un lavabo contenant de l'eau.
• Ne pas récupérer un chargeur branché s'il est tombé ou en cas de chute dans l'eau ou
d'autres solutions. Débrancher immédiatement le cordon de la prise électrique murale.
• Ne jamais charger la tondeuse si le cordon ou la fiche du chargeur est endommagé(e) ; si le
chargeur ne fonctionne pas correctement, s'il a fait une chute ou s'il est endommagé, ou s'il a
été plongé dans l'eau.
• Ne pas jeter la batterie au feu ni la désassembler de force pour s'en débarrasser, car elle
pourrait exploser ou dégager des matières toxiques.
• Ne pas mettre la batterie en court-circuit en reliant les contacts des batteries avec une pièce
métallique ou conductrice car cela pourrait provoquer des brûlures.
• Ne pas tenter de remplacer la batterie. Cela pourrait entraîner des risques d'incendie
ou d'électrocution.
• Ne pas recharger la tondeuse à moins d'1,5 mètre (4,9 pieds) du patient.
• Ne pas recharger la tondeuse à proximité d'un point d'eau.

• Toujours nettoyer le corps de la tondeuse entre deux patients.

blessure légère ou modérée.
Mise en garde- Pour éviter tout risque d'incendie ou d'électrocution pouvant entraîner des
blessures mineures ou modérées et/ou des dommages matériels :
• Ne stériliser ni le corps de la tondeuse, ni le chargeur, ni la lame.
• Utiliser uniquement les accessoires recommandés par le fabricant.
• Toujours conserver la tondeuse et le chargeur dans une zone non humide.
• Ne pas tenter de remplacer la batterie de la tondeuse.
• Ne pas modifier les éléments internes de l'appareil. Cet appareil ne contient aucune pièce
susceptible d'être réparée par l'utilisateur.
• Ne pas recharger la tondeuse à l’extérieur.
• Maintenir le chargeur à distance des surfaces chaudes.
• Consulter la plaque portant les spécifications électriques sur le cordon du chargeur pour
connaître la tension appropriée de la prise murale.
• Ce dispositif peut causer des interférences électromagnétiques (EMI). Si cela se produit,
éloigner le produit du dispositif affecté.
• L'utilisation d'accessoires autres que ceux indiqués peut entraîner une augmentation des
émissions ou une baisse de l'immunité de la tondeuse.
• Ne pas plonger la tondeuse dans l'eau ou dans une autre solution à plus de 15 cm (6 pouce)
de profondeur ou pour une durée supérieure à 15 minutes.
• Ne pas démonter la tondeuse pendant sa durée de vie utile, car cela peut nuire à l'étanchéité
de la tondeuse.
Mise en garde- Pour éviter tout risque de contamination environnementale pouvant entraîner des
blessures mineures ou modérées :
• Lorsque l'appareil est hors d'usage, il doit être éliminé dans la filière de recyclage des déchets
d'équipements électriques et électroniques (DEEE).
• Les batteries doivent être éliminées dans la filière de recyclage des déchets d'équipements
électriques et électroniques (DEEE).
• Ne pas modifier les éléments internes de l'appareil. Cet appareil ne contient aucune pièce
susceptible d'être réparée par l'utilisateur.
Mise en garde- Pour éviter tout risque de coupures ou de lacérations cutanées pouvant entraîner
des blessures mineures ou modérées :
• Ne pas utiliser la tondeuse si la lame est endommagée ou cassée.
• Ne pas tondre en raclant la peau car cette technique peut provoquer des micro-coupures.
Mise en garde- Pour éviter tout risque de brûlures pouvant entraîner des blessures mineures
ou modérées :
• La température de la lame peut atteindre plus de 50 ºC (122 ºF) après une
utilisation prolongée.
• Ne pas laisser la lame au même endroit sur la peau pendant plus d’une seconde.
• En cas de température supérieure à 30-35 °C, utiliser la tondeuse pendant une durée
maximale de 30 minutes suivie d'une pause de 20 minutes.

ci-dessous : Cette tondeuse chirurgicale professionnelle 3M™ est garantie exempte de défaut de
matériel et de fabrication pendant une période de 2 ans à compter de la date de l'achat*. Si cette
tondeuse chirurgicale s'avère défectueuse pendant la période de garantie, elle sera remplacée
gratuitement par 3M. Contacter notre Centre d’Information Clients 3M au : 1-800-228-3957. Le
personnel de l'assistance en ligne est disponible du lundi au vendredi, de 7 h à 18 h, heure centrale.
En dehors des heures d’ouverture, un répondeur vocal enregistrera les réclamations concernant
nos produits. Vous pouvez également vous adresser au délégué commercial de votre secteur. Merci
d'inclure une description du défaut avec l'appareil renvoyé.
Cette garantie ne couvre pas les dommages causés par une mauvaise utilisation, une négligence,
un accident, un emploi anormal, une altération ou une modification des appareils par une personne
n'appartenant pas à 3M, l'ajout d'un accessoire non fabriqué par 3M ou l'utilisation de la tondeuse
chirurgicale avec un courant ou une tension électrique autre que celui/celle stipulé(e) dans ce
mode d'emploi. Les remplacements qui auront lieu après expiration de la période de garantie seront
effectués et facturés au client sur la base de tarifs disponibles sur demande.

Instructions
Pour fixer une lame à usage unique sur la tondeuse :
Vérifier que le bouton ON/OFF (marche/arrêt) est en position OFF (arrêt). Retirer la lame de son
emballage, et sans toucher la lame, tenir le corps de la tondeuse au-dessus de celle-ci (a). Faire
glisser la nouvelle lame en place jusqu'à ce qu'un déclic se produise (b).
Pour utiliser la tondeuse :
Nettoyer soigneusement la peau du patient. Pour allumer la tondeuse, faire simplement passer
le bouton ON/OFF (marche/arrêt) au-dessus du voyant de charge, sur la position ON (marche).
L'indicateur de puissance s'allumera selon le niveau de charge de la batterie (c).
Fonctionnement des voyants de charge de la batterie
Les trois voyants supérieurs de charge s'allument en vert et les deux inférieurs en jaune. Ces voyants
indiquent le niveau de charge de la batterie. Voir (d) ci-dessous. REMARQUE : lorsque le niveau de
la batterie est bas, le voyant inférieur clignote, indiquant que la tondeuse doit être rechargée. Les
voyants clignotent également lorsque la tondeuse se trouve sur le support et qu'elle est en cours de
chargement. Le niveau de charge peut être déterminé par le voyant qui clignote.

Procéder par de petits mouvements doux, en maintenant la lame le long de la peau du patient, ou
légèrement inclinée (e). Pour obtenir les meilleurs résultats, la tonte doit s'effectuer à rebrousse-poil.
Dans les zones délicates, tendre la peau pendant la tonte. La tondeuse peut être tenue de plusieurs
manières. Il convient de déterminer la technique qui permet une prise en main confortable afin de
maintenir peu ou pas d'inclinaison entre la lame et la peau. Cette technique peut être réalisée en
poussant ou en tirant. Ne jamais ratisser la tondeuse sur la peau (f).

Pour changer la lame à usage unique :
Pousser le bouton ON/OFF (marche/arrêt) en position OFF (arrêt). Tenir le corps de la tondeuse
d’une main. Placer la tondeuse au-dessus d’un récipient de collecte de déchets appropriés, la lame
vers le bas. Avec le pouce, appuyer sur le bouton d'éjection pour éjecter la lame du corps de la
tondeuse dans un conteneur à déchets (g).
REMARQUE : pour réduire toute contamination croisée entre patients, retirer la lame de la tondeuse
et l'éliminer de façon appropriée après chaque utilisation.
Entretien et nettoyage du corps de la tondeuse :
Le boîtier du corps de la tondeuse est fabriqué en plastique résistant et est étanche à l'eau.
Il peut être nettoyé avec un chiffon humide contenant une petite quantité d'alcool, de désinfectant
ou de solution détergente douce. Il peut aussi être rincé à l'eau courante ou trempé dans une
solution désinfectante de forte puissance. Les produits chimiques homologués pour le nettoyage
comprennent de l'alcool à 70 %, de l'eau de javel à 2 %, une solution de chlorure d'ammonium
quaternaire ou une solution Chlor-clean. Laisser sécher complètement avant de remettre la
tondeuse sur le chargeur ou de la réutiliser.
Ne stériliser ni le corps de la tondeuse, ni la lame.

Chargement de la tondeuse à batterie 9681 :
Pour charger la tondeuse :
1. Pousser le bouton ON/OFF (marche/arrêt) en position OFF (arrêt).
2. Nettoyer le corps de la tondeuse avant de remettre la tondeuse sur le chargeur, en s'assurant
que les contacts entre la tondeuse et le chargeur sont propres et ne comportent aucun poil
ou autre matière contaminante.
3. Brancher le cordon du chargeur sur une prise électrique appropriée, en s'assurant que le
cordon ne soit pas pincé ou plié.
4. Pour être certain que la tondeuse 9681 est complètement chargée, la laisser
branchée pendant 4 heures avant de l'utiliser pour la première fois et pour toutes les
utilisations suivantes.
5. Nous recommandons de laisser le corps de la tondeuse sur le bloc chargeur entre deux
utilisations. Elle ne peut pas être surchargée.

Retrait de la batterie 9681
Le corps de la tondeuse contient des batteries recyclables Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion), qui ne sont pas
conçues pour être remplacées. Lorsque la tondeuse rechargeable arrive au terme de sa vie utile, la
batterie doit être retirée de la tondeuse et recyclée ou éliminée conformément aux réglementations
locales, régionales et/ou nationales. L'élimination des batteries Li-ion dans les ordures ménagères
est interdite.
Les étapes ci-dessous décrivent la façon de retirer la batterie afin de s'en débarrasser de manière
appropriée. Jeter la tondeuse une fois que la batterie en est extraite.
1. Vérifier que le bouton ON/OFF (marche/arrêt) est en position OFF (arrêt).
2. Retirer la lame à usage unique.
3. Sécher complètement la tondeuse et bien s’essuyer les mains.
4. Enlever les trois vis du boîtier.
5. Tirer le boîtier supérieur pour le séparer de la partie inférieure.
6. Retirer le bloc moteur et la batterie.
7. Retirer la batterie Li-ion de l'ensemble.
8. La batterie doit être éliminée avec les déchets d'équipement électriques et électroniques.
