1.0 General
1.1 The 3M™ 4295 Pole Mount Cabinets come loaded with 3M™ 4320 Self-Strip Termination Blocks. The
cabinets are also provided with prestubbed cables. All cable attachment, splicing, and bonding within the
cabinet is complete.

4.0 CabinetMounting
4.1 When mounting the cabinet on a pole with a balcony, refer to dimension "A" for correct location of balcony.
4.2 When mounting the cabinets on a pole for "walk-up" applications, refer to dimension "B" for proper
positioning.

4.3 Attach Top Pole Mount Bracket to pole following
company practice.
4.4 Lift cabinet into position using a boom truck and a
lifting sling. Attach sling to brackets at top of cabinet.
Note: Do not lift cabinet using a cable attachment.
4.5 Carefully support cable while raising cabinet.
4.6 Attach lower cabinet support brackets.

4.7 When mounting a 3M™ 4295E cabinet, attach
additional reinforcing bracket.
4.8 Attach cable to pole per your company practice. Reinforcing

6.0 Labeling
6.1 Remove protective tape from identification pads on block.
6.2 Select proper sequence of labels (blue-distribution; green-
feeder) and detach strip of 20 labels from sheet.
Note: 1-6-11 etc. are attached to left side of block and 5-10-15
etc. are attached to the right side.
6.3 Carefully remove protective backing from strip as shown.
6.4 Align strips of numbers with binding post block
identification pads and press in place. Carefully remove
top premask leaving labels on pads.
6.5 Fill in binding post log.
5.0 Splicing
5.1 Splice the cabinet stub(s) to feeder/distribution cables following company practice.
Note: The feeder/distribution cable identification table is included in Section 9.0 Wiring Plans.

7.0 JumperInstallation
7.1 Make sure wires have clean-cut ends.
Bend the last 1/2" - 3/4" (13 mm - 19 mm) of wire 90°.1/2" - 3/4"

7.3 With a screwdriver, rotate cap 90°clockwise.
Note: Make sure screwdriver blade is fully inserted into cap slot
before rotating.
Note: Ground special circuit jumper wire shields following
Ameritech practice AM 640-525-950, "Working at Cross-
Connect Cabinets - Standards for DS-1 Provisioning at
Cross-Connect Cabinets."
Note: To remove jumper wire, rotate cap 90°counterclockwise.

7.2 Insert wire into port and through the cap until the wire is
visible from the exit port.

7.4 Split pair (TIP - left, RING - right) at assigned cap position. Always route jumper wires below the
connected cap.

8.0 AccessoriesInstallation
8.1 3M™ 4327 SS Single-Pair Probe:
a. Align pair probe and insert pins in test ports.
b. Depress clamps to allow clearance over cap heads.
Push probe forward until clamps snap behind cap.
8.2 3M™ 4324 SS Priority Circuit Caps
a. Attach 4324 priority caps on special circuits.
b. Identify circuits on matte surface of priority caps.
