2Мain characteristics
2.1 Automatic meteorological stations «SOKOL-M1» are designed for:
—automatic measurement of meteorological parameters: air temperature, atmospheric
pressure, relative humidity, the level of ultraviolet radiation of the sun, wind speed and direction, the
amount and intensity of precipitation;
—determination of the presence of moisture on plant leaves and other surfaces (hereinafter
- contains the sheet);
—soil moisture and temperature, leaf moisture, snow cover height (optional);
—photo fixation of weather phenomena.
2.2 Structurally, the automatic meteorological stations "SOKOL-M1" are made as a
monoblock containing the following elements:
—the sensor of temperature, relative humidity, and atmospheric pressure;
—the sensor of atmospheric precipitation;
—ultraviolet level sensor of solar radiation;
—rechargeable battery;
—solar panel.
Wind speed meter, wind direction meter, and digital camera are placed on the body of weather
station «SOKOL-M1».
2.3 Weather station «SOKOL-M1»through the wireless LoRa 433 MHz channel
communicates to «SOKOL-BMVD» with connected remote sensors: a sensor of soil humidity and
temperature (SOKOL-DVP) and a leaf humidity sensor (SOKOL-DVL). Up to 8 "Sokol-BMVD" can
be connected to the weather station "Sokol- M1"; to each «Sokol-BMVD," up to 4 remote sensors can
be connected.
Thus, the weather station can receive information from the maximum of 32 remote sensors, and
it is necessary to take into account the order of their connection to the "SOKOL-BMVD" (see Table 5)
and in this regard, the name of the parameters to be read.
For example, you can connect 3 "SOKOL-DVP" and 1 "SOKOL-DVL" to each "SOKOL-
EWSM". That is, the first three inputs of the "SOKOL-EWSM" always connect only soil moisture and
temperature sensor (SOKOL-DVP), and input four can transmit data on the humidity of the leaf (Sokol-
DVL).
To connect external devices (ultrasonic anemometer, pyrheliometer, and measurement of snow
cover height ) to the weather station, use a junction RS-485 box. The box itself is connected to the
weather station through a cable with a plastic five-pin connector. The second socket is designed to
connect the measurement of snow cover height, which is used to determine the snow cover height. The
other two identical connectors are designed to connect an ultrasonic anemometer and a pyrheliometer.
The weather station's built-in GSM-modem transmits measured parameters to the server
www.sokolmeteo.com (from now on referred to as the "server") with set periodicity. It is also possible
to connect the "SOKOL-TV" device to the station, transmitting data from the weather station to the
screen via HDMI cable.
The weather station can be retrofitted with sets of additional equipment:
—Satellite communication Iridium. It ensures uninterrupted operation of the weather station

5
in areas without GSM network coverage.
—The northern version set includes additional equipment designed to ensure high autonomy
of the weather station when operating in northern regions with low temperatures and long polar nights.
—Reinforced GSM antenna. The set is designed to increase the level of received GSM
signal in regions with inadequate network coverage.
—Reinforced LoRa 433 antenna. The set is designed to increase the range of wireless
modules of external sensors.
—Set for connecting weather station to PC. The set contains the necessary equipment to
connect the weather station to the PC or integration into the control system via the RS485 communication
interface (MODBUS RTU).
—Measurement of snow cover height. The set includes an additional device designed to
measure the snow cover's height and the equipment necessary to connect it to a weather station.
—External power supply 220-12 V. The set is designed to provide uninterrupted power to
the weather station when operated in the local data transmission mode. It is also used for maintenance
of the station and restoration of the built-in battery charge.
—External vane and anemometer. The set contains an additional set of equipment and
connecting cables for the set of standard vane and anemometer at a distance of up to 15 meters from the
weather station's main unit.
—Mounting kit for assembling and mounting a weather station on an M-82 weather mast
or other mast or post.
—Additional mounting kit for weather station installation with additional measuring
instruments.
2.4 "SOKOL-M1" Automatic meteorological stations work around the clock, messages about
meteorological parameters are transmitted periodically according to the established schedule. The
meteorological station is an autonomous device equipped with a built-in rechargeable battery.
Maintaining the operating voltage of the battery is possible due to the installed solar panel. If necessary
(insufficient solar energy) the weather station can be operated from an external power source (optional).
Setting up the weather station is done with the USB interface and the configuration software installed
on your PC.
2.5 The weather station has an interface for RS-485 integration (MODBUS RTU protocol).
RS-485 interface allows you to transfer the parameters of the weather station in various automation and
control systems. The MODBUS RTU format data structure is presented in clause 6.10.6 of this manual.
