Ontkalkingsinstructie
Inleiding A.O.Smith Dscale is een zeer krachtige ontkalker met kleurcodering. Dscale
verwijdert ketelsteen- en kalkaanslag. Het voorkomt dat de losgemaakte kalk
opnieuw hecht aan de wanden, zodat de kalk tijdens het uitspoelen verdwijnt.
Ketelsteen- en kalkaanslag verhinderen een goede geleiding van de warmte
naar het water. Periodiek reinigen en ontkalken verlengt de levensduur van het
toestel, bevordert het verwarmingsproces en bespaart energie.
De service- en onderhoudsmonteur bepaalt de benodigde
onderhoudsfrequentie. De frequentie hangt af van de mate van kalkvorming.
Kalkvorming neemt exponentieel toe met de toename van de regeltemperatuur.
Kies dus een zo laag mogelijke regeltemperatuur. Let daarbij wel op de
warmtebehoefte en de minimale retourtemperatuur voor legionellapreventie.
A.O.Smith Dscale is een geconcentreerd product, dat afhankelijk van de
hoeveelheid kalk, meestal verdund met water gebruikt kan worden in een
verhouding van 1:1. De hoeveelheid te gebruiken vloeistof hangt af van de
inhoud van het toestel, zie Tabel 1.
A.O.Smith Dscale is een veilige, biologisch afbreekbare ontkalker op basis van
natuurlijke grondstoffen, waaronder melk- en citroenzuur. De oplossing mag in
verdunde vorm geloosd worden op het riool.
cLet op
A.O.Smith Dscale is een zuurproduct. Gebruik de voorgeschreven
beschermingsmiddelen en spoel het systeem altijd na met water.
Deze instructie bestaat uit twee delen:
• een ontkalkingsinstructie voor toestellen met reinigingsopening
• een ontkalkingsinstructie voor toestellen zonder reinigingsopening
Kies de instructie die voor uw toestel van toepassing is.

Toestellen met
reinigingsopening
1. Schakel het toestel uit volgens de aanwijzingen in de toestelhandleiding.
2. Tap het toestel af (zie toestelhandleiding).
3. Verwijder de afdekplaat 1van de reinigingsopening op de buitenmantel.
Zie Figuur 1.
4. Draai de bouten los.
5. Verwijder het deksel en de pakking.
6. Spoel het toestel door met leidingwater om losse verontreinigingen te
verwijderen.
7. Sluit de aftapkraan.
8. Verwijder losse kalkaanslag met de hand.
9. Als de kalkaanslag niet handmatig verwijderd kan worden, gebruikt u
A.O. Smith DScale.
Waarschuwing
Draag een veiligheidsbril en rubberen handschoenen. A.O. Smith DScale is
irriterend voor de huid en kan tot ernstig oogletsel leiden.
10. Voeg het aantal liter A.O. Smith DScale toe, zoals omschreven in Tabel 1.
11. Verdun de DScale met hetzelfde aantal liters water.
nOpmerking
Bij ernstige kalkaanslag de dubbele hoeveelheid DScale onverdund
gebruiken. Bij weinig kalkaanslag de DScale verdunnen in een verhouding
1:2. De totale hoeveelheid vloeistof moet altijd overeen komen met het getal
in de Tabel 1.
12. Laat het mengsel afhankelijk van de hoeveelheid kalk 1 à 2 uur in het toestel
staan. Dscale werkt maximaal 2 uur. De werking neemt geleidelijk af.
13. Open de aftapkraan.
14. Open rustig de vulkraan en spoel het toestel goed door met leidingwater.
DScale is een zuur, daarom is naspoelen noodzakelijk.
15. Kijk in de reinigingsopening of alle kalkaanslag verwijderd is. Zo niet,
herhaal de ontkalkingsprocedure.
16. Sluit de reinigingsopening. Draai de bouten aan met een maximaal moment
van 50 Nm, om beschadiging van de tank te voorkomen. Gebruik geschikt
gereedschap. Voor het monteren van de bouten, houd de volgorde aan,
zoals in Figuur 2 aangegeven.
nOpmerking
Om een waterdichte afsluiting van de reinigingsopening te garanderen,
moet u de pakkingen en bevestigingsartikelen regelmatig vervangen. U kunt
hiervoor bij A.O.Smith een speciale set krijgen.

nOpmerking
Voor het ontkalken van toestellen zonder reinigingsopening heeft
A.O. Smith een speciale ontkalkingsset ontwikkeld. U kunt de set bij
A.O.Smith bestellen onder vermelding van art.nr.: 0307564.
1. Schakel het toestel uit volgens de aanwijzingen in de toestelhandleiding.
2. Tap het toestel af (zie toestelhandleiding).
3. Verwijder de aftapkraan uit het toestel.
4. Monteer de nieuwe aftapkraan en het verlengstuk uit de ontkalkingsset.
5. Open de aftapkraan.
6. Spoel het toestel door met leidingwater om losse verontreinigingen te
verwijderen.
7. Bevestig de slang en de trechter aan de nieuwe aftapkraan volgens
Figuur 3.
Waarschuwing
Draag een veiligheidsbril en rubberen handschoenen. A.O. Smith DScale is
irriterend voor de huid en kan tot ernstig oogletsel leiden.
8. Voeg het aantal liter A.O. Smith DScale toe, zoals omschreven in Tabel 1.

9. Verdun de DScale met hetzelfde aantal liters water.
nOpmerking
Bij ernstige kalkaanslag de dubbele hoeveelheid DScale onverdund

10. Sluit de aftapkraan.

12. Open de aftapkraan.
Voer het mengsel op verantwoorde wijze af.
13. Controleer of de kalk voldoende verwijderd is, door naar de kleur van het
mengsel te kijken. DScale is rood. Heeft het mengsel een oranje / gele kleur
gekregen, dan is nog kalk aanwezig. Herhaal de ontkalkingsprocedure.
14. Open rustig de vulkraan en spoel het toestel goed door met leidingwater.
DScale is een zuur, daarom is naspoelen noodzakelijk.

Descaling
instructions
Introduction A.O. Smith Dscale is a very powerful colour-coded descaler. Dscale removes
scale and lime deposits. It prevents the scale that is loosened from sticking to
the walls again, so that the scale disappears when rinsed away.
Scale and lime build-up prevent effective conduction of the heat to the water.
Regular cleaning and descaling extends equipment lifespans, helps the heating
process and saves energy.
The service and maintenance technician determines how often maintenance is
needed. The frequency depends on the extent to which scale has formed.
Scaling increases dramatically as the temperature is adjusted upwards. So pick
the lowest possible temperature setting, but do make sure the heat
requirements are met and observe the minimum return temperature for
preventing legionella.
A.O. Smith Dscale is a concentrated product that is generally diluted 1:1 with
water before use (depending on the amount of scale). The quantity of liquid to
use depends on the volume of the appliance - see Ta b le 2.
A.O. Smith Dscale is a safe biodegradable descaler made from natural raw
materials, including lactic acid and citric acid. When diluted, the solution may be
disposed of via the sewers.
cCaution
A.O. Smith Dscale is acidic. Use the personal protection equipment as
described and always flush the system with water afterwards.
These instructions consist of two parts:
• descaling instructions for appliances with an opening to allow cleaning
• descaling instructions for appliances without an opening to allow cleaning
Use the instructions that apply to your appliance.

Appliances with a cleaning
opening
1. Switch the appliance off, following the instructions in the equipment manual.
2. Drain the appliance (see equipment manual).
3. Remove the cleaning opening's cover plate 1on the outer jacket.
See Figure 4.
4. Undo the bolts.
5. Remove the cover and the gasket.
6. Flush the appliance with tap water to remove loose impurities.
7. Close the drain valve.
8. Remove loose scale deposits manually.
9. Where the scale deposits cannot be removed by hand, use A.O. Smith
DScale.
Warning
Wear safety goggles and rubber gloves. A.O. Smith DScale irritates the skin
and can cause serious eye injuries.
10. Add the appropriate number of litres of A.O. Smith DScale, as described in
Tab l e 2.
11. Dilute the DScale with the same number of litres of water.
nNote
For severe scaling, use double the quantity of DScale undiluted. When there
is not much scaling, dilute the DScale in the proportions 1:2. The total
quantity of liquid must always match the figure given in Ta b le 2 .
12. Leave the mixture in the appliance for 1 to 2 hours, depending on the
amount of scale. DScale works for up to 2 hours. The effect decreases
gradually.
13. Open the drain valve.
14. Open the filler tap slowly and flush the device thoroughly with tap water.
Rinsing is required because DScale is acidic.
15. Look in the cleaning opening and check whether all the limescale deposits
have been removed. If not, repeat the descaling procedure.
16. Close the cleaning opening. Tighten the bolts to a torque not exceeding
50Nm (to prevent damage to the tank). Use suitable tools. When tightening
the bolts, use the sequence shown in Figure 5.
nNote
You must replace the gaskets and fixings regularly so that a watertight seal
can be guaranteed for the cleaning opening. You can obtain a special set for
this from A.O. Smith.
