The In/Out Air Release Fitting (R00019) comes pre-assembled into the In/Out Head (R0005). Attach the Air Release
System (R00018) to the hose barb. Refer to Installation Instructions #2, page 7. Refer to Figure 2.

The Monitor PCB & Enclosure Transformer (R0003) come pre-assembled and fixed to the Connection Manifold (R0001)
to create the Electronic Manifold Assembly (R00020). The Spool Adapter with Check Valve (R0006) is installed on the
inlet side of the Connection Manifold (R0001) with the Monitor Meter (R0002) attached.

Two Sample Taps (R0008-2) and one Elbow with Check Valve (R0008-10) are included in the kit and will need to be
taped and attached to the connection manifold (R0001). See Figure 2C. If you are not using the sample taps, be sure to
tape and attach the enclosed plugs instead.

The F11-FTC Valve is mounted to the filter media tank. This media purifies the oxidized water.
The Air Pump (R00010) connects with ¼” tubing that uses a quick release fitting on the pump and is routed to the Elbow
with Check Valve (R0008-10). Refer to page 4 Figure 2c. The Air Pump Bracket (R0009) is a stainless steel bracket that
provides convenient means to permanently install the pump.

The convenient Bypass Manifold (R0004) is designed as a solder free installation that can be used with quick release
fittings and our standard bypass valve (1606P).This allows for minimal water usage during the installation of the Iron Kit.

Iron Removal Setup… Installation by a certified water treatment professional is highly recommended.
1. Remove distributor tube and basket from empty tank and remove the wrapping from the basket.
2. Attach tubing from the air release system (R00018) to the hose barb (R00019) in the in/out head
(R0005).
3. Attach the distributor tube into the in/out head.
4. Secure the air release valve to the distributor tube with a zip tie.
5. Insert this assembly into the empty tank and screw tight onto the tank.
6. Screw the filter valve onto the media tank.
7. Set the filter valve to backwash (regenerate) every five days is typical. (refer to valve manual for
directions)
8. Attach connection manifold assembly (R00020) to the in/out head tank. Grease O-rings on each spool to
prevent damage and leaks. Ensure the orientation of the manifold is in the proper position with the inlet
to the in/out head first and secure with provided clips. Attach connection manifold assembly to the
filter valve using provided clips.
9. Tape and attach the air inlet elbow with check valve (R0008-10) and both sample taps onto the bottom
of the connection manifold. * If sample taps are not desired, please install enclosed plugs.
10. Attach plastic bypass to meter assembly/connection manifold with provided clips.
11. Connect the length of ¼” tubing to the air pump and elbow with check valve located on the underside
of the connection manifold.
12. Mount air pump bracket in a convenient location, ensuring the cord and tubing reach.
13. Plug in F11 filter valve, air pump, and meter monitor to a 120VAC GFI outlet.
14. Turn bypass valve on to allow water to flow into the system.
15. Manually turn on air pump using the red switch on the back of the pump until air is escaping through
air release fitting on the top of the in/out head and then turn switch off. The air pump will automatically
pressurize the tank with future water use.

Air Injection Oxidation
Aeration injects dissolved oxygen to convert the iron and manganese from their ferrous and manganous forms to their insoluble
form. It takes 0.14 ppm of dissolved oxygen to oxidize 1 ppm of iron; it takes 0.27 ppm of dissolved oxygen to oxidize 1 ppm of
manganese.
The air injection process requires careful control of the flow. If water usage becomes to great, not enough air is applied to oxidize
the iron and manganese. The advantage of the Hankscraft Iron Removal System is that the aeration is adjustable from immediate
on demand to delayed aeration based on real time water usage and the oxidation process can be optimized.
