General description
The Communication Module (hereafter CM) is an optional function. This option makes it possible
to communicate via a landline with three pre-programmed telephone numbers. Incoming calls
can also be accepted.
General description

5
1Use
The CM can be used to call three pre-programmed numbers. For example, in an emergency.
The order in which these numbers are called can be configured. See Section 2.
1.1 Making a call
1 Press the yellow alarm button for 4 to 7 seconds. The dialling tone can now be heard.
2 Release the alarm button. The light on the alarm button has now turned green.
3 If the contact answers, you can communicate by speaking in the direction of the alarm
button.
1.2 Disconnecting
1 Press the yellow alarm button for 4 to 7 seconds. The light on the alarm button turns off.
The call has now ended. It is also possible for the person being called to hang up.

1.3 Choosing the next number
If the connection to the first contact does not succeed, you can choose to go to the next pre-
programmed number. This is done as follows:
1 Press the yellow alarm button briefly during the call once. The next number is now dialed.
Note
If the contact’s number redirects to voice mail, you must also briefly press the yellow alarm button
once to call the next number.
1.4 Accepting incoming calls
The landline is connected to the CM. An incoming call can therefore also be accepted while using
the stair lift.
When there is an incoming call, the CM produces a ring tone. Accepting is done as follows:
1 Briefly press the yellow alarm button once. The connection is established. Speak in the
direction of the alarm button to communicate.
The call can be ended by pressing the yellow button for 1 second.

2Programming
To connect the CM to the landline, it must be connected to the base station of a DECT telephone.
If a DECT telephone is already present, it can be used*. If this is not the case, a base station can
be supplied by thyssenkrupp.
2.1 Required parts
- Communication module in the arm rest.
- DECT base station.
If possible, position the base station halfway up the rail. For the situations where the base station
cannot connect to the CM because of the distance, a DECT amplifier can be used. (Not supplied
by thyssenkrupp).
Connect the landline to the base station. Connect the base station to the mains supply using the
adapter.
2.2 Connecting the CM with the base station
1 Press the “connect / verbind” button on the base station for 5 seconds (this is brand/type
dependent, if this does not work, consult the base station manual).
2 When the CM is searching for the base station, the light on the alarm button flashes red.
3 The registration has been successful if two beep sounds are heard and the light on the
alarm button turns off. The CM is now connected to the base station (The CM can only be
linked to one base station at a time).
*The Communication Module connects to every brand of DECT base station (GAP / ETSI standard
EN 300444)

2.3 Connection problems
If, 2 minutes after turning on the lift and the CM, successful registration is not possible, one beep
will be heard, the green light on the alarm button flashes briefly and the search is restarted.
Possible solution 1:
Check that the CM and the base station are connected to the mains supply and that they are
switched on. Also check whether the base station is connected to the landline.
Possible solution 2:
The standard CM PIN code is “0000”. The base station and CM PIN codes must be the same to
make a connection. If this is not the case, the base station PIN can be reset to factory settings.
The standard PIN code is usually “0000”. Consult the base station manual if necessary.
Possible solution 3:
If the CM is linked to another base station, this link will need to be removed.
This solution can only be performed using a smartphone and using DTMF commands (audible
audio signals).
1. Download and install a DTMF app on a mobile phone or tablet.
- Briefly press the alarm button on the CM three times. The alarm button will now
flash yellow/green.
- Open the DTMF app on the smartphone. Hold the smartphone close to the CM.
2. Enter the following code on the telephone to set the CM in programming mode: **#
If successful, two low beep sounds can be heard from the CM. If this did not work properly,
an extended high beep sound can be heard.
3. Enter the following code to remove the registration to the base station: *997*6789#
The pin code of the CM is now "0000"
4. To set another pin code, use the following command:
*996*[pin code]# e.g.: *996*1234#

2.4 Programming options for the CM
The configuration of the CM must be done by dialling in. This is done by calling the landline
number using the landline telephone* or a mobile phone.
* To call an internal extension, consult the manual of the relevant DECT telephone.
2.5 Setting the CM in programming mode
1 Call the landline number using the landline telephone or a mobile phone.
2 Answer the call by pressing the yellow alarm button on the CM (press once). Enter the
following code on the telephone to put the CM in programming mode: **#
3 The alarm button light will now flash yellow / green.
Now the desired telephone numbers can be programmed. It is recommended to choose a family
member or neighbour for the first two contacts. The last number can be a number that can be
reached 24 hours per day, for example an emergency service.
This way, the first assistance will come from a relative or neighbour, but assistance can always be
called for if the first two contacts don't answer the call.

2.6 Programming the telephone numbers
Tip
Preferably, switch off the telephone microphone.
1 Enter the following code on the telephone to put the CM in programming mode: **#
2 Program the telephone numbers as follows:
To program the first number, enter the following code:
*025*0*[telephonenumber 1]# e.g.: *025*0*0101234567#
To program the second number, enter the following code:
*025*1*[telephonenumber 2]# e.g.: *025*1*0207654321#
To program the third number, enter the following code:
*025*2*[telephonenumber 3]# e.g.: *025*2*EMERGENCY NUMBER#
2.7 Setting the speaker volume
The speaker volume can be set from 0 to 9, where 0 is silent and 9 is very loud. The standard
setting for this is 7. The following command must be entered to change this setting:
1 Enter the following code on the telephone to put the CM in programming mode: **#
2 Enter the following code:
*019*[volume level 0-9] # e.g.: *019*7#
2.8 Setting the ring tone volume
The ring tone volume can be set from 0 to 9, where 0 is silent and 9 is loud. The standard value
for this is 5. The following command must be entered to change this setting:
1 Enter the following code on the telephone to set the CM in programming mode: **#
2 Enter the following code:
*020*[volume level 0-9] # e.g.: *020*2#
*025*0*[telefoonnummer1]#
*025*1*[telefoonnummer2]#
*025*2*[telefoonnummer3]#

2.9 Testing the CM
If the CM is programmed, the following functions must be tested. (See Section 2)
- Accepting incoming calls
- Ending a call
- Calling pre-programmed telephone numbers.
Note
If the third number is the international emergency number, this must not be tested.
2.10 Restore factory settings of the CM
There are 2 possible situations, check which situation applies:
1 The CM is still connected to the old DECT base station.
- Call the landline with a telephone (continue from point 2a).
2 The CM is no longer connected to the old DECT base station.
The CM must be programmed using a smartphone, using DTMF commands (audible audio
signals). Download and install a DTMF app on a smartphone or tablet.
- Briefly press the alarm button on the CM three times. The alarm button will now
flash yellow/green.
- Open the DTMF app on the smartphone. Hold the smartphone close to the CM.
a Enter the following code on the telephone to put the CM in programming mode: **#
If successful, two low beep sounds can be heard from the CM. If this did not work properly,
an extended high beep sound can be heard.
b Enter the following code on the telephone for a factory reset: *999*1234#
If the factory settings are successfully restored, the CM produces a low beep sound twice
and after a few seconds the light on the alarm button will stop flashing. The reset takes
about 1 minute. After the factory settings are restored the light on the alarm button flashes
red. The base station registration is erased and the PIN code is set to the standard setting
“0000”.
Note
When restoring the factory settings of the CM, the programmed telephone numbers are erased
and the volume of the speaker is set to 7, the standard setting.
